Ive bought a nuprol gearbox (one extreme to the other!) and i'm going to modify it to fit in the lower, it might work. it might not. I simply dont know at this point. :D

So it would appear that the area gearbox is a different shape to a standard V2 (no surprise there really!) and a normal V2 has to be modified to actually fit inside the receiver. The part below the spring guide needs er, "remodeling" to fit and a stand off fitted because the bit you have to cut...

Wonder if a normal v2 will fit. The trigger turned out to have a crack and sheared off. Oh dear. Game over for the ares gearbox.

Yeah, thats the one. I'm missing the "extension" piece but i imagine it would need a ridiculous barrel at that point! :D

I bought a boneyard tm Aug and it turned out to have a weird suppressed front end on it. For a dinky gun, you can almost use it as a melee!! 🤣

Although every image of the ares ar021 I can find it's this stumpy little thing. Not this honking great lump I have laid out on the bench. I guess the suppressor is nearly a foot long. Weird what some people do to their rifs, isn't it? Ah well. I'll put the gearbox back together tomorrow at...
