  • Hi everyone. I have an M1919 with (what I believe is) an A&K M249 Gearbox and was wondering if it is possible to install a mosfet instead of having a fuse?

Also what upgrades could or should I have done to it?

    Thank you in advance

Yeah i think i will try and get A&K’s mosfet, but if not then i will get just a normal one

Also would i be able to have an 11.1v Lipo battery instead of having a 7.4?

Thank you for your help ?

battery choice kind of boils down to the way the build is setup.

if it's a stock box then probably fine, however if it's been tinkered with then the rps boost going to 11.1v might push it over the edge for things like pme.

the other issue is how the magazine is setup (wether it's powered directly off the main battery or has its own power source), if it's running off the main battery then 11.1v might fry the motor (or not, depends who made the mech), if it's running its own power source then the mech will be fine but perhaps the gun might end up firing faster than the mech can feed.

for example i fried the mechanism for an agm mg42 running it on 11.1v, it was originally powered by a seperate aa pack but running the gun on 11.1v had feeding issues with the mech being too slow.

tl:dr support guns can get tricky......

Oh okay i’ll stick to the 7.4 ? I don’t want to break it after just getting it ?

M249's would probably be easiest to source.

A HPA'd A&K can be brutal - someone had one the other week and it sounded like a baby A10 warthog was doing a gun run.

Other more pricey but arguably more realistic version are the G&P, TM MK46 or the Lambda MK48

The nationality of the vehicle would help , aren’t going to see an RPK on a UK/US themed one , same as you’d be unlikely to see a 249 on an OPFOR vehicle either ?

    ^as above

if the nation is a choice yet to be made then the pkm might not be the worst pick, with the aftermarket mag mech you can get 7k rounds on tap and the boxes are pretty quick to change out if you have multiples and are running the power input seperately (eg a massive battery somewhere in the vehicle, or build the box to run off the vehicles 12v system)

plus it gives you an excuse to buy a pickup truck :P
