It's a balancing act IMO. On the one hand, going all drill sergeant at your team and getting up in people's faces over the results is bad in any hobby. On the other, you kinda ideally want your team to be energised and giving it a good go.

You've hit the nail on the head there. I think what most people here are posting about are the ones who either base their whole enjoyment of a game solely on the result (yes it's nice to win but that's not the be all and end all), or will scream and shout at others (often people they don't know) to follow their plan no matter how bad it is while staying so far back they might as well be in the safezone

For me it's just this. Ive had a guy on one game day pissed out team didn't achieve one objective all day that he wouldn't say anything nice to any of our team. Bearing in mind we had a big disadvantage from the off that the other team had 90% regulars on and they worked with the marshalls to make things in their advantage (another thing I don't agree with as Marshalls should be neutral no matter who it is) and our team had all the first time players and rentals.

Marshals that try their hardest to be funny during briefings, meanwhile said briefing has gone on for 10+ minutes and everybody in the safe zone has already zoned out and stopped listening

If you're around the Central Belt of Scotland I have a sneaking suspicion we go to the same site. 😂

Marshalls not enforcing team balancing is indeed cringe. Stopped going to one field as it essentially became all the mates of owners hunting rentals like they are Rambo in first blood!

"and our team had all the first time players and rentals."

Add to that 1st time at site player and yeah, that's cringe. Marshals playing favourites; timmy, just ask them out, jesus, don't make it my problem.

Can whole heartedly agree those mocking others is super cringe, but that mocking gear or gats, we all playing toy soldier, chill. The "why not rent till ukara" crew are in this as well. It's not the bright red you have a problem with as I saw you gushing over that abomination of a hpa aap1 like its the best you've seen, just elitist.

Oh, man clique ops - been a while since I've seen it but yeah, that part/half of the team appearing and taking the last two kills of the game after "new to site" and rentals slog up a hill - especially- especially when, if they had pushed with the objective the game timer would have hit our favour. (Yes I play to "win" but mostly that's where the action is going to be)

Sadly this is too often the case, they have 1 joke that made 2 regulars laugh and they made that thier whole personality.

I would argue that marshals pointing to the players that caused items to be added to the safety brief is not cringe but a public service announcement of "people get hurt near this person for dumb reasons"

Anyone taking it too seriously , or even remotly seriously . We are playing dress up and running around with toy guns Dude !

Eh, I guess it depends on how serious is serious. It's part of the LARP to engage with it as if it matters.

Otherwise it's a bit like turning up for a five a side and telling everyone to chill out and have a beer for the 90 minutes.

Obviously it's games at the end of the day and you shouldn't go burning bridges over the results, but IMO it's more fun to take it seriously while you're playing it.

A few years back, I was playing at Anzio camp and I was deep in the embassy building.

There were a bunch of proper try-hard milsimmers there (wasn't a milsim day, just a standard open day) and they had caused a few moans from thier "we are better than everyone else" attitude.

I had dug myself into the embassy when the milsim team started to push in. I was on my own at the time.

I could hear one of them closing in on my position, so moved around him and stuck one in his back.

He took his hit and he walked off chuntering to himself, scalding himself for not checking the corner properly. He was genuinely so angry, was a bit embarrassing and It made me feel a bit bad.

A bit later on, the same team were pusing into the D buildings.

I had taken watch on one of the stair cases. I ended up in contact with 2 of thier guys; I shot one and the other took cover and tried to fire some suppressive fire.

I was able to angle a shot through a window, perfect chest hit.

He immediately got pissed and started shouting for a Marshall for blind fire. I asked him if he wanted to check my go pro (head mounted).

He fell very silent. I ended up checking the gopro later just to make sure (im very self doubting, unlogically so) and sure enough, it was a perfect shot, very clear on camera.

Lead marshal at a well known site in Suffolk (Ex RAF airfield...) Throwing a full blown tantrum at lunch time because someone had pissed on the portaloo seat was both equally funny, tragic and cringe

Yes feet were stomped, yes there was shouting, yes we were all called dirty c*&ts, yes the scrawny fecker promised to knock out the pee offender followed with the threat of a lifetime ban, no me and my pals haven't been back since (Also no we didn't do the peeing - we chose a far nicer tree to relieve ourselves against as opposed a dirty portaloo in the middle of summer!)

Don't get me wrong - peeing on the seat is a bit grim, but watching a man child have a full blown temper tantrum - was not expecting that!

Also side note - didn't appreciate this Marshall make comments regarding "mongs" and "mong like behaviour" during his briefing. I'm by no means a snowflake, but having previously worked with SEN kids and adults, that just wasn't funny - no matter how many times he dropped it into the briefing...

The biggest cringe I remembered was a team of speedsofters in their purple and white uniforms at the Battery. In fairness, a couple of them were reasonable but one player was the most insufferably self-satisfied twat who took play and himself far too seriously and had no self-awareness.

Even in CQB, you may have to give your opponent the benefit of the doubt with hit taking because you may not feel a torso hit if you're wearing a plate carrier - just shoot a different part of the body. One of the speedsofters (on Blue team) claimed to land a hit on an opponent on Red team but the latter didn't call it. Speedy boi had a go at in the game but the marshal nearby reminded him with short shrift to take it up with a marshal and not to have argue over hit calling and that it was mentioned in the briefing. Back in the safe zone after the game, the speedy boi confronted the Red team player and had a go despite the marshal's warning. It started to get heated but the speedy boi came up with an absolute howler "We're a serious team and we play by the rules." putting his hand on his chest in the most smug Will McKenzie fashion. The Red team player was initially pissed off but he scoffed and laughed at the speedy boi taking himself so seriously.

Another game I was in at the Battery had the same speedy boi team with the same self-satisfied player who insisted he shot an opponent but a marshal and I both had a better line of sight than he did and he clearly didn't as the BBs went a good foot wide to the left of the opponent's shoulder yet McKenzie swore he hit the target, which to be fair probably was true as I assume his target was the thin air to the left of his opponent.
