Inspired by a certain ad in the dreamers thread.

Your recently deceased Great uncle has left you £3000 to spend on a RIF.

The rules are:

You have to spend all the money.

You have to spend it on parts that directly attach to the RIF or are integral to its functioning. (Attachments, magazines, upgrades)

RIF has to be theoretically skirmishable. (So if you blow £1.5k on gas mags, you have to demonstrate how you're going to run around all day with 30 heavy lumps of metal attached to you lol).

RS items are allowed if they can legit be attached to your platform.

Be creative.

Surprisingly easy to blow a big chunk of cash on airsoft...

GLBS DAS GDR416 £1,950 (not including iron sights!)

Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II 5x Prism Scope £440

Titan 11.1v £45

Throw in a bunch of good mags, a decent plate carrier / harness, some Crye camo gear, and I reckon you'll top £3K quite easily with a very nice 'sensible' kit.

Or there's this :)

Neither seem to have mounting points for a stripper pole though.  I fail on being 'creative' :(

You could probably get close with an archwick MWS build without going OTT

MWS doner - £450

L119 kit - £1,200 (shipped from HK)

5 mags - £250

RS stock - £55

G33 3x - £700

XPS3 - £800

That like £3,500 and perfectly usable

TL:DR - £3k isn't enough for me :P

What can I say? I love sniper rifles! The real difficulty of this is that my ideal gun would probably require the help of a gunsmith. In essence, I'd make the absolute gigachad of airsoft sniper rifles from a KJ m700p, ideally using either the Magpul Pro 700 stock or the MDT ACC stock. Where the gunsmith comes in is the modifications to make it compatible, but I know Remington stocks can work with KJ or Tanaka rifles, because my Tanaka m700 is in a Remington 700 wooden stock (it's a lovely display piece and target shooter, but like hell am I taking it to a skirmish!). Outside of that, my usual slew of upgrades, some gas mags and a real-steel optic and I think I'd run out of money before I even had a chance to think "oh god what am I going to pad the build with..." since the Magpul Pro 700 stock is around £1000, the MDT ACC stock is around £1500, a good real-steel optic can easily be over £1000.

Instead, I'll go for a build I could do myself. Spoiler alert, it's very similar to the KJ m700 I'm building at the moment, just... not the same optic...

KJ m700p - £200

Action Army custom outer barrel for m700 - £50

Action Army KJ m700 hop unit - £40

Maple Leaf Crazy Jet 470mm or 510mm - £50

Maple Leaf silicone Autobot 85 degree hop rubber - £10

Maple Leaf omega nub - £5

4x Action Army m700 28rds magazine - £200 (4x £50)

Some sort of KAC-style QD suppressor (5KU or Big Dragon or something) - £50ish

Midwest heavy-duty sling swivel x2 - £40

Magpul MS3 2-point sling (non-QD) - £70

Real-steel Harris bipod - £150ish

EoTech Vudu 3.5-18x50mm - £1800ish

Some sort of 50mm killflash to protect that damn scope from BBs - £10(?)

Badger Ordnance 34mm scope mounts - £260ish

Sprinter Custom Ghillie multi-season rifle wrap - £65

Total - £3000ish

Can't even afford the stock I want or the gunsmith to help me get it to work 😧

But for the stretch goal, to reach 3.5thou..

£100 - TM Tracer unit

£674 - Torrey Pines T12 thermal reflex sight

Total £3420 😎

Edit: Misread, assumed £3.5k. If £3k is the target, I'd remove the Torrey Pines T12 and add a couple of mags

How many mk5s can I get for £3k?

Edit: if it has to be a rif then £250 - £300 on a King Arms M79 with a short barrel and the rest on TAG rounds

I'd want to build an mws with decent 2 stage trigger and 2 uppers. One for cqb and one spr upper. I'd also get a folding stock adapter for it just because. 4 or 5 spare mags and whatever internal upgrades I can afford with what's left.

That or a gas Uzi with a bunch of mags and real steel parts whenever that comes out.

This is likely what I'd go for if I were to copy one of my AEGs kitted with the finest wares of Aliexpress and turn it into a gas blow back rifle with real steel kit.

TM MWS (long barrel variant) £459

6x MWS 35rnd Mags £300

Magpul CTR stock Milspec FDE £79

Magpul MOE+ Pistol grip FDE £30

Geissele Automatics MK16 13.5" FDE Handguard Milspec £525

Geissele Automatics Super precision 30mm Scope mount 2.04" £383

Vortex Razor HD Gen II-E 1-6x24 Rifle Scope £1550

Streamlight 88066 Pro tac flashlight £130

ARISAKA DEFENSE M-LOK INDEXER £40.80

Total: £3,496.80

Stumped at what else to add to round it to 3.5k but I tried my best to get near the budget rather than over it.
