Not a bad idea at all

I know its clearly going to be a clone if something says £20 for a stated "EOTECH" but for the unwitting buyer who may not have a clue about how much real steel variants cost they may think they are picking up a bargain. If you have a look through eBay sellers (and rightly so to get more hits) they use every name under the sun in order to push their sales, type in crye for example and everything under the sun pops up and you may think you are getting a pair of lovely G3's but really you are getting TMC or Emerson.

Apologies for the pessimist in me coming out but that would also facilitate "the small percentage" of people who purposefully mis-sell.

Possibly, but with a fairly high population of people who know their stuff and the fact we have the dreamers thread would pick those up or indeed if someone suspects that its not legit then that's where people can ask questions. Plenty of ways to tell if something is legit and anyone trying to defraud anyone would potentially be banned and or receive forum warnings if it was intentional.

We want to keep the classifieds as streamlined as possible and it's always a balance between requiring information and not overwhelming people with work to get their item online. As far as a tickbox on the listing to identify things as a 'clone', this is just a bit too niche for me to consider at this point. However, I have added an extra part to the 'brand' description so that it now reads:

"Tokyo Marui, Cyma, Holosun etc. Is this item genuine or a clone?"
