The T97b shop got back to me. It's a little shop soiled and have offered it to me for £356 shipped.

It's made the decision harder!

Have you managed to get the 20mm rail adapter too?

Got the full size one as I think it looks like an 80s muzzleite bullpup.

Yeah I purchased one from Pro Airsoft in March when they were about to go bust. I knew I would get a T97 at somepoint! It's just a shame I only have one!

Yes, but at least you've actually got one.

I'd like to see how they compare when you've got them. Mines the best airsoft gun I've owned.

Well. Some slight respite from the T97 customs and border nightmare and this one came in.

Replaced Tamiya with Dean's, pfte a loose body pin and had to dremel buff out the red tip on the flash hider...

  • 2 weeks later...

So thought I would update this. I wanted to wait until the seized Real sword T97 came in to take a group photo but... well I'll recieve it when I recieve it!

In the meantime, the other choice I made was... both! The Ares Soc AR AND the T97b!

The Ares is heavy, but I skirmished it on the weekend and it at least worked throughout the day after my L85 failed first game. The heaviness was quickly forgotten as it was comfortable to use.

It came in running at 300 fps. Quick spring change later and its now around 340 fps. The accuracy and consistency and mag compatability is pretty poor as per the standard plastic Ares Hop unit. But a Maxxmodel hop will drop right in and I have a spare Prommy barrel laying around.

The EFCS is amazing, burst fire is so much fun, looking to get some smaller Life batteries to run on as the battery compartment is long but thin. The trigger is a speed trigger and has the best trigger response out of any bullpups I have tried!

The laser is disabled as this was built for the german market, but I dont mind and I am sure it wont take much to renable it if needed. Had to PFTE the back body bolt to stop it from falling out and buff off the red spray painted flash hider.

So all in all, it has problems, but it's a very solid rifle beyond that and I am sure with some tweaks will be a excellent performer.

The T97b certainly feels agricultural compared to the Ares, very long trigger pull and reset meaning I cant trigger spam, battery space is laughable, but will be doing the required body mod for it.

However it feels amazing to hold, it's pretty tiny and the metal feels better then the Ares, the plastic is tough nylon style, ROF feels pretty good, haven't chronoed yet but will do soon!

All in all, I am dead chuffed to have two of the best bullpup rifles. 😄 when the T97 comes in that will be it for ARs for a very long time!
