Just a quick review with lots of pictures because who doesn't like pictures??? Anyway:

Got ahold of one a while ago and finally have time to take a good look at it.

Externally, it is excellent. The aluminium upper body has a matte but very smooth finish. Very nice to touch. Everything on the body is aluminium apart from the flash hider, rear folding sight, and obviously the pins and screws: those are steel. The lower is plastic and more grainy to the touch than the metal upper. The only other SCAR i've had is the DBOYS SCAR L and the quality of this SCAR H is light years ahead; they do not even compare. It even has markings on the body as you can see.

The bolt even locks back and releases with the button on the other side, just like the real one. Makes adjusting the hop ez as fok when testing.

This gun also has a feature where switching it to safe releases the anti reversal latch which makes it perfect as a DMR because no lockups ever? Perfecto.

I used these videos to aids in disassembly, just in case I'd fuck up something:

Both WE SCAR H and SCAR L model are the same except for the mags of course. The gun is incredibly easy to disassemble. Like, I'm not joking. watch the video. Legit one pin and the lower falls out. The DBOYS, in comparison,  takes like 3 screws and 2 pins. The hop chamber looks to be proprietary. It's not bad though; does the job just fine and doesn't seem to unwind itself, yet.

Gearbox time.

The stock motor is quite a bit more torquey than usual compared to other stock motors like the G&G 18000rpm or JG G36 motors. Stock rate of fire is a bit on the slow side because of that. It was also a bit grindy which indicates it doesn't have a great stock shim job. Stock FPS is around 330 with a 0.25g which is around 1.30J from the top of my head. A bit too hot for sites with 350 fps limits on a 0.2g.

The gearbox itself is actually pretty decent. No quick change spring though. It is also radiused at the front by default.

Splitting it apart is easy like any v2. A bonus point for the safety switch unlocking the anti reversal latch which makes it even easier to take apart. It's also not really that dirty inside. The stock WE grease is black and I don't really trust it, so I just wiped it all off with a few tissues. Another bonus point for the trigger design: it doesn't pop out like a maniac. This trigger sits still and securely inside the gearbox which makes tech work and assembly really nice and easy.

Following the advice from the video, I ditched the gears:

If they're prone to snapping, I'm swapping them straight out. I replaced them with SHS 16:1 gears and an SHS hi torque to accompany it, because... why not?

Another issue:

The cylinder head is proprietary... it's a rubber cap that goes over the plastic head. What a weird design. But, this rubber cup does secure the cylinder head well into the cylinder itself. I don't really want to glue sorbo onto the rubber cup...

On checking the AOE:

This is further back than usual for a stock gun. The rubber cap on the cylinder head sets it back quite a decent amount. Honestly, it's OK. This position is significantly better than any JG, CYMA, or G&G shit that you'd see. I don't really need to adjust it for now. I can't anyway because my usual airlab sorbos are too long for it and will correct it the wrong way. The piston itself is of decent quality doesn't deform significantly when I dig my nail into it. The stock seal is also very good. However, I changed it out for a viton o-ring because.... no real reason, really. Just routine.

Mosfet? Na, no need just yet. It'll run fine as it is for now (I'm kinda broke anyway).

Another issue is the motor grip base:

By default, this base sets the motor height waaaaaay too high, even on the lowest setting. This had to be changed out:

Now works just fine. I'd recommend getting a stock E&C m4 grip.

Fitting it all back together is super easy compared to other V2s due to nice trigger and anti reversal latch not popping out like a tard.

A quick basic shim and a half charged 7.4v:

Not too bad. A reasonable rate of fire for those dreaded purists.

Pros:

  1. Super easy to disassemble body
  2. Very nice quality externals
  3. Super easy to work on gearbox
  4. Gearbox radiused by default
  5. Bolt lock is nice
  6. Safe position releases anti reversal latch

Cons:

  1. Bad motor base (change this shit out asap)
  2. Bad gears
  3. Weird cylinder head design (not major, but can't install my usual airlab sorbos)
  4. Only hi caps as mags

Would I recommend this gun stock? No. Would I recommend this gun if you were willing to change out gears and grip? Yes. It's a pretty solid AEG overall with some very nice design features, like the safe switch decocker and easy one pin disassembly. The externals and finish are also very nice to the touch too. You'd also have to accept that there are only hi caps for the gun too... which may be a deal breaker for some.

But honestly, I really like it. It's around £100 - £150 more than a DBOYS SCAR and I'd say it is totally worth it for the externals alone. Compared to a TM recoil SCAR??? No idea. I've yet to get a hold of one. They are £200 above the WE SCAR H aeg and I don't think I'll ever purchase one at full price. Maybe through a second hand trade someday.
