Wondering what everyone's favourite game mode is at their game days.

For me I have two I really enjoy at the Depot.

Domination - They have spread over the site spinners just a plank of wood screwed in the middle to a wall and on each end of the wood there is a circle with the team colours on. Spin your teams colour to the top and hold it doesn't matter if you hold it all game only matters who holds it when the whistle blows.

Drug Wars - They have white blocks of wood sorry I mean cocaine spread all over the site. In cars, on shelves, in corners literally everywhere 20+ blocks between 2 floors.  The site is 2 floors so 1 team is downstairs with their spawn and their base on opposite sides of that floor same for the other team upstairs. You are only allowed to carry 1 block at a time and take it back to your base. You can raid the enemy base so defence is important as well as  exploration to find blocks. Winner is the team with the most blocks when the whistle blows.

I like when they start the day with Infection, which we haven't seen for a while.  A couple of marshals tape up and start hunting the untaped players.  Once you're hit, you go and get taped up and join the infected team.

Why?  Because it gets everyone playing quickly, and should in principle result in a more even split of players than a split at the briefing ramp which can result in a lot of rentals or first timers being put on one side just due to where they're standing.

I agree with Domination and Drug Wars because you can choose a role that suits: camping a point / base, or pushing out.  In both cases you've got a fair chance of actually finding an objective and contributing to the win if you go looking.

Modes that I enjoy less are VIP escort / hostage rescue / find the McGuffin.  Because quite often you never even get to see the objective, or know where it is, and it just turns into random ball slinging where most players aren't actually contributing to the game mode.

Anything with spawn clocks can die in a fire.

drug wars sounds pretty cool, one of our locals runs a domination game but the site layout basically means it almost always ends in stalemate.

personally i'm a fan of push style games, without any kind of respawn flag just a simple 30 steps back or 1 life per zone. can make for some epic frantic defence moments, keeps the game flowing, and you don't feel so bad about losing when the game rules are biased so just concentrate on putting in a good fight.

I do think sites need to draw out their maps and spawns in a scale so they can check simple things like length to objectives etc via an actual walking route not as the crow flies.

I played in fife and they had a rule that if you die you can't attack that same angle so if you pushed up left and died when you re spawned you weren't allowed up left again on that life.

i have a few favourites first being Cops and Robbers, where you have to get all the robbers in the jail. ( if you shoot them they are catch able unless revived by there team) my other being fall back.

FWG yea. They actually played cops and robbers while I was there. It was fun. When I got "arrested" the cop was hand on my shoulder wanting me to walk to the jail but I kept going the wrong way on purpose or just walking past the turn for the jail. It was fun to be bad.  I also arrested at least 3 filthy robbers.

My only issue with that is I want to play with the guys I came with often my group size on attending depot is 4+.  Also who ever thinks blue tape is as easily seen as yellow needs a reality check it should be blue and green or red and yellow.  I have played infection in reverse so untapes vs tapes as a way to finish the day off. They up the stakes a bit too much IMO with the winner getting a free game day.  So naturally it always sparks someone to cram them selves in to a cupboard or something else stupid instead of work as a team to hold of the untapes.  I personally like to be in the front wall so I can swap team and hunt.

As much love as I have for Baz I think the dynamic games are his brain child. The flag games are good with the predefined locations to take flags to and each team has their own flag. Tactics can be deployed i.e go and lock down a site to prevent the enemy getting a foothold. Or stay with your flag carrier and get him through hot zones to the objectives.  Hostile VIP can go to hell seen them just go rogue when hes literally surrounded.

What do you dislike about spawn clocks? I see them as beneficial on some ways as you spawn as a new "unit" so you can pool intel and go as a group to push or defend something.  Of course everyone just goes "I duno" and wanders off to die on their own but the opportunity is there!

The only site Ive ever played at with spawn clocks was at the NAE last year, and it sucked. Mostly because we were stuck trying to push up a god awful near vertical hill with a respawn point at the bottom of the hill. It took about 5 minutes to get up the damn hill, get shot in seconds (because Delta are all bushwookie tryhards hiding in the trees :P ), stumble your way back down the hill to the respawn point, where you had to wait however long it was (5 mins?) then scrabble your way back up the damn hill, only to repeat it all over again. Youd get about 30 seconds of pew-pew time, for 15 mins of up the hill, down the hill, wait to spawn, up the hill again. After a few times of that we al lgot fucked off and just wandered off to go do our own thing somewhere else rather than futily assault that point. Long/difficult re-spawns = more people cheating because they dont want to have to fuck about taking 15 mins out of the action respawning.

As for my fave game mode? Any where I get to shoot lots of people, because thats what Im there for! I like the rolling retreat style games they play at EAG Dorking, where defenders cant advance, once theyre hit fall back 30 paces and carry on playing, not allowed to advance past where they respawned. Play from one end of the site, swap sides and then play it again backwards, see who can clear the site the quickest. Its simple, no complex rules making people go "oh fuck it, lets just TDM it nevermind the objective".  Which is the most common outcome when sites try to organise more complex games.

interesting, although possibly hard to police and open to interpretation.

i know one of the local sites the guy that runs it has a nasty habit of micromanaging you, making sure the enemy doesn't get flanked etc.

kinda stupid as being part of a good flank to break a defensive line is one of my favourite bits of the sport.

Anything not overly complicated where I spend most of the time playing how I want to instead of pussyfooting everywhere or waiting to respawn.

CTF

TDM - I rarely play nowadays so it doesn’t get stale for me .

Any kind of domination.

Find the things (of which there’s many, hidden bombs and vip can suck a dick) and take it to your base - Raiding the other teams base and stealing there’s never fails to entertain.

Cops and robbers - Generally a good game to end the day as it’s pretty chill. Better with low numbers.

TTT - Same as above.

2 v 2 Pistols games at start or end of a day are great fun.

Simple attack and defend games can be great, especially if you've an interesting layout or area to attack and defend. Nice, simple and gets everyone warmed up.

Sniper Hunt game varients. Can have a number of different sniper hunt based games, I personally always enjoy them though, playing as either a sniper or hunter.

Mortar positions. At Cerberus we have 3 mortars operated via HPA, and its always fun when they are brought out, especially at the Sandpit. One of the most fun games we played there was when they were set up on a plateau on the top of a hill to the right hand side of the quarry. We had to take all 3 positions as quickly as we could with the mortars firing down onto us and each mortar having a small defence team.

Sorry we all know being a gamer makes me a violant angry person.

They still build fake structures or objectives to fight over. If they are going to put the effort in to build something they should try to consider where to place it balance wise. I'm not saying sites need to symetrical copies of each other but if it takes red team 2 minutes to walk to the object but blue team get there in 40 seconds from spawn it hardly fair if there are no other rules to balance it i.e medics, respawns.

Nah, Phil Campion is a big mincing nancy boy, and you can tell him that from me if you go. ;)

I actually quite enjoy the content from Jet Desert Fox, Unicorn Leah and Femme Fatale, but I rather suspect that they (and the nancy boy as well) will be monopolised by fanbois, and I wonder how much actual airsofting is going to get done.

Could be wrong, hope I am, but I'm not minded to pay a premium to find out.

Bright side, they've really spruced the place up for company coming, even painted the toilets.  Bye bye hessian, helllllo new wood walls.

Practically guaranteed to be wanky. Doubtlessly all the weirdos will escape their cages for the day to see jet, Leah and femme fatale, especially the latter two 😂

tbh it seems a common theme for the bigger airsoft reviewers that there's a formula:

1. never give a bad review

2. always make sure people know if a gun is ambidextrous or not

3. always make sure people know which bits are metal and which bits are plastic

4. never reveal any details on the operating mechanism beyond is it an aeg or gbb

5. always chrono it, but never comment on consistency

6. if you are going to accuracy test, don't do it scientifically

Nail on the head as soon as the magnet comes up the video goes off 😂

A few other common things

Show the hop up being adjusted (mindlessly)

A magazine dump

Comment on the authenticity of the trades or mention the lack of.

out of the box reviews can piss off I want user experience. Force someone to use it for at least 1 game not fire it at a few targets.

I seem to have derailed my own thread.
