Upgrading my Cybergun FN Herstal SCAR-H VFC (AEG)

So I don't have it just yet, waiting for delivery, but should be here within a week or so.

This is the one I'm getting; https://www.evike.com/products/32613/

Reading reviews of it and youtube comments, a lot of people talk about upgrades etc, read somewhere that the hopup chamber it comes with as stock sucks and to get this one: https://airsoftpro.cz/en/gun-parts-upgrade/aeg-inner-parts-upgrade/chambers-barrel-locks/hop-up-chambers-for-others/kompletni-cnc-hopup-komora-pro-scar-h-detail

Along with a new tappet plate and something else I can't remember right now, maybe the motor - then there's people talking about changing the barrel, adding a mosfet, new springs, new motor, etc.

I contacted *.cz and asked if that hopup chamber will fit the VFC SCAR-H and they replied "probably yes, but I dont know if it is compatible with Cyber Gun Scar - we dont have tested this combo..."

Don't suppose anyone knows if it's compatible? Then there's the 'sealing aluminium nozzle' https://airsoftpro.cz/en/gun-parts-upgrade/aeg-inner-parts-upgrade/gearboxes-and-inner-parts/nozzles/standard-nozzles/hlinikova-tryska-s-tesnenim-pro-scar-h-38-4mm-detail and a 'double sealing nozzle' https://airsoftpro.cz/en/gun-parts-upgrade/aeg-inner-parts-upgrade/gearboxes-and-inner-parts/nozzles/standard-nozzles/hlinikova-tryska-s-dvojitym-tesnenim-pro-scar-h-38-4-mm-detail what's the diffence? should I buy these things? any advice on upgrading the gun would be great. I'm not really looking for more FPS because I still want to be able to use it in games, more just to increase reliability and such - apparently the stock hopup chamber has plastic parts that sometimes break, or so I read on some youtube comments somewhere.

In other areas, are there any third party stocks I can get for it which are bigger to hold a larger battery? It looks like I have to do a bit of cutting on the stock stock to fit a small type 9.6v 1600mAh battery in there as it is.

Should I just leave it as it is for a while or can anyone say with any certainty about upgrades for the gun I should buy? I'm not too shabby with a soldering iron so stuff like that isn't so scary to change, just looking for any help or advice, preferably from someone who's worked on the same gun but I'm sure there are people out there who have done upgrades on loads of guns and know what they're doing enough to advise.

thanks in advance.

Just leave it stock for a bit and see how it performs and where you feel it needs improving. It's very easy to end up throwing more parts into a build than actually needed. Once you've used it a bit make a list of what you want, better accuracy, fps change etc then go from there.

That looks a decent spec TBH, and as an aside my SCAR stock takes a 2200 mah 7.4 lipo brick pack quite happily. 2 will last all day

MAXX now do a rotary hop up for the SCAR which is better than the Airsoft Pro one which is an exact copy of the stock one just in aluminium. The MAXX works great for r hopping the barrel. I was very unimpressed with the stock motor so that's going too and it'd be worth getting the aluminium air nozzle too.

What nozzle and motor exactly?

That's the M4 hop up. This is the one for the SCAR H

https://www.maxxmodel.com/cnc-aluminum-hopup-chamber-sv-vfc-scar-lh.html

This is the air nozzle I'm on about

https://airsoftpro.cz/en/gun-parts-upgrade/hlinikova-tryska-s-dvojitym-tesnenim-pro-scar-h-38-4-mm-detail

Obviously shop around for prices

As for motor that depends on the build you're going for. If you're keeping the stock gears then an SHS 22TPA motor will be best. If you want Snape trigger response though get yourself some 13:1 gears and a 16TPA motor. Is recommend AK2M4 for these bits

When you say if I'm keeping the stock gears, you mean the stock hopup? or is that something else? I just want to do a few simple swaps like hopup chamber/barrel/spring/motor/maybe add a mosfet if needed, shit like that, whilst also still being within fps limits.

No idea what snape trigger response is, just tell me what to get and I'll find the cheapest out there and sort it!

Snape was supposed to read snappier lol. As for the rest I was talking about the gears in the gearbox so if you're not going to crack the gearbox than go with this one when he next gets it in stock

https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/motors-parts/sld-high-torque-motor-22tpa-long

You can leave the air nozzle as well if you don't want to open up the gearbox.

Yeah I don't wanna break it on day 1, so just the hopup unit you linked and that motor to start with and see how it goes from there?

Thanks again.

Said those motors are no longer made so they won't be getting any more,

"They has discontinued it but it's pretty much identical to the zci 22 TPA

Regards
Pete"

So, there's a short and long ZCI 22 TPA, I guess I want long?

I've got this barrel now;

When it comes to 'simple' upgrades ie not opening the gearbox, I'm looking at just getting this hopup unit (?) (is it really that difficult to change the nozzle if I'm swapping the gearbox/motor/hopup unit anyway? I'd rather not have to take it apart multiple times for each thing and do it all at once.

Thanks again.

Edit: The shipping from pro.cz is more than the actual nozzle so if I get that is there anything else they've got in stock I could grab at the same time so it doesn't feel like I'm just paying for shipping?
Thanks,
para

To swap out the nozzle you have to split the gearbox so if you're doing that there are other things you can do whilst you're in there. The ZCI is just as good so don't worry about that. The great thing about that hop up is it's really easy to r hop or flat hop. There are plenty of premade patches available if you want to do this to run heavier ammo and get an extra 5-10m

Ah okay. So if I get that hopup gearbox, that nozzle I linked, that motor, what else specifically should I get? I've no idea what you are talking about vis a vis r hop or flat hop etc and patches, I'm pretty sure I can put it together etc when I get it (found some helpful youtube videos where they disassemble the gun) but want to be sure what I am buying is the right stuff etc.

Thanks in advance.

Keep it simple to start with. Get the hop and motor and see how it goes

Alright thanks.

I made a new topic about replacing the wiring and ended up talking more about the upgrades here - can the topic be merged, mods?

I guess I forgot I actually bought the hopup as it arrived today, was just going to stick with the barrel and go from there, but might aswell get the motor now too - is this the one I ought to get? https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/zci-motor-high-torque-long?search=zci 22 TPA

I've got 'ZCI Airsoft High Torque Motor 22 TPA (Short/ V3)' written down somewhere too so I don't know if I want long or short etc because can't remember where I read the differences.

9bQO7B0.jpg

so hopup, barrel, motor, doesn't look too complicated to swap out, any other changes I can do while the gun is open that aren't too involved? mosfet? nozzle?

preferably nothing more expensive than the motor.

Is £30 a good price for that motor? I read that the Titan Supreme is solid; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRSOFT-AEG-MOTOR-HIGH-SPEED-TORQUE-LONEX-A1-SUPREME-ASG-SHS-LONG-M170-M140-M120/272035448749 bit more expensive though.

Edit: oh, and what about the tappet plate? Will this do?

Edit 2:

Some googling about and found some nice guides such as this; https://tacticalparts.com/blog/tuning-vfc-scar-part-i/ as well as loads of teardowns on youtube, feeling more confident about opening it up now.

Shs Tappet Plate Version 2 Gearbox V2

Deans connectors (suggested to switch to deans and use thicker wires)

Lonex hopup bucking / AEG MACARON HOPUP BUCKING - 60°Omega hopup nub (are these the same thing or?)

DOUBLE SEALING ALUMINIUM NOZZLE FOR SCAR-H - 38,4 MM

SHS Shim Set for Airsoft Gearboxes - consists of 30 shims

16 Gauge Silicone Wire

SELECTOR PLATE FOR SCAR L/H VFC (VF9-SPSCAR01)

SHS 14 TEETH FIBRE PISTON (BLUE)

VFC SCAR-L (MK16) / SCAR-H (MK17) Selector Plate

PISTON HEAD ASG VENTED POM ULTIMATE ALUMINIUM SPEED LONEX

SHS 18:1 AEG HIGH SPEED GEARS AIRSOFT GEAR SET AIRSOFT M4 G36 MP5

Do all these parts look good, any better alternatives or things I'm missing while i'm doing all that? I'll probably play with it for a while before even opening it but just building a list of 'to buy'.

thanks again.
