Thought I’d start a home for your DIY kit all those pouches/slings/holsters or what ever you’ve made your self and are dam proud of ! Plus somewhere you can post up any useful little Airsoft ‘hacks’ to help out your fellow S’ofters .

only rule , no nasty comments (unless well deserved due to attitude of course!) about what people post up banter and ribbing ? yes that’s fine , nastiness ? not wanted .

so will start the ball rolling with some home made visible bullet G36 mags.

you can get low and real caps with the bullets visible but not mids (not that I’ve found anyway) AND all the mids seem to be solid black and not opaque like the lows . So I stripped out all the lows I had , placed the fake bullets on my scanner printer laid a heavy towel over the printer to block any light and scanned and printed them off .

A8E9B3D6-6082-4494-9D1A-79AE5DA8148A.jpeg

then trimmed the pictures down removed the internals from the mids I do have , stuck the cut to size pictures to these internals and fitted them inside the opaque low caps .

So I now have 5x120rd visible bullet mids ! 👍

They are nice.

I have a Magpul MS4 copy 1/2 point sling,  but found the QD point on the back of the stock meant it hung too low and inhibited switching shoulders.

I wanted to keep the adaptability of the sling,  but use the buffer tube sling loop.  Si with a spare HK clip, and some webbing strap did this.20190507_195024.thumb.jpg.2d77e4247e0393758c7d631fb9869241.jpg

Ooh this is going to be an interesting thread!

I've done a bit of bodging in my time, but off the top of my head i've got this:

If you use grenades, get yourself some of those retractable key holders and clip it onto your webbing with the other end in the pin, no more lost pins and if you have a decently strong one you can even do one-handed throws using the line to pull the pin out for you.

And if you have a multipack of them dont fret, you can also use them to hold a hydration hose neatly under your shoulder and out of the way but still leaving it easy to access when you need a drink.

Not got enough hop on your pistol? Cut up an old aeg rubber into a square and pop it under the hop arm, poor man's i key.

Dont throw away old vsr springs, cut them up and use them to push the hop unit up to the gearbox for a better air seal.

Using an etu? Cant afford a speed trigger? Well on a v2 box you can drill and tap the bit of the gearbox under the back of the trigger and pop in a grub screw. You have to remove the safety (not that clearing the gun to make safe is that hard) but the trade off is you can adjust your trigger to near touch levels of sensitivity, not that i advise going that far.

Loose iron sights on your pistol? Remove them and reinstall with some paper underneath, reciepts work quite well.

Less bodge and more old school engineering but if you need to cut a bolt to length instead of going ham with the hacksaw pop a couple of nuts on, lock them and clamp that sucker in a battery drill. Then go ham with the hacksaw with the drill spinning and you'll get a nice square cut. You can also file/sand them nice the same way. Also works on barrels.

However of everything, the one thing that i'd advise to anyone wanting to do their own tech work isnt a bodge or cheap solution but for gods sake get a proper set of hex/torx drivers with long shafts and ground heads. You'll thank me when you dont have to figure out how to get that last rounded screw out of an m4 grip.

One final one for the road- if you want to start teching, take one reliable gun, place your right hand upon it and say the following oath:

"I do hereby swear, no matter what tempt me, that i shall not fuck with this gun while it runs, lest i be consigned to the walk of shame to collect the charity rental g36 when my latest tinkering goes awry"

I have sown tabs on all my pins so they are more visible (I did the retractable thing and found it was annoying) also all my grenades are layered with reflective tape, are numbered, have my name etched in the primer cap and have smart water on them as well ;)

I've got my grenade pins clipped to lengths of paracord which are inside the grenade pouches and tied off outside the drain holes in the bottom of each pouch. When cut to the right length, you can then hold the grenade, give it a pull to remove the pin, and the cord and pin will always stay with you ready to be tucked back into the empty pouch.

6 grenades stolen over the past 3 or 4 years... I'd rather do all I can to not have them keep getting nicked although sites seem to be a lot better these days with helping get missing kit found.

once spectating at a local site came across a gbb vector mag, picked it up on the basis that at least if i pick it up i know it ain't been thieved. never seen such relief on someone's face when it's owner came to claim it.

not had anything nicked myself, lost the occasional mag but either found it again or it's been returned by someone else.

Unfortunate thing is in a lot of places Ive played you cant retrieve a bang until the whole room is cleared and while some may have disappeared into a hole or under something I hadn't spotted not once have I been contacted by a site to hand one back. Since putting phone number/name etc on them (and not easily removed) I've never had an issue.

 Funny that ? Not ! 😡

I've got hi-vis glow tape all over mine (stuff I’ve used is a bastard to get off and then you don’t get it all off) and I’ve got my name and part of my army No engraved on them as well , touch wood any ‘miss placed’ always made it back to me .

I like DIY stuff, I've made nubs n stuff. I'll have a look for some photos and add them in later.

Currently messing about with plastics at the mo. It's a long way from finished but I started making a mask. lol

Going to do a lot more to it; paint, venting, harness, ballistic eyeballs etc.

This is just a quick vac formed shape from a life cast.

You could leave that as it is for an awesome "Purge" themed loadout?

Would be awesome to smuggle into a night game and then just randomly pop up here and there during the night - scare the cr*p out of people!!

Now I'm getting some entertainingly disturbing ideas, might have to look into how to do this myself 😈
