I’m relatively new to airsoft and am very eager to get a gun, however I only do indoor cqb airsoft and I don’t particularly want a pistol as it is expensive. I’d like it to fulfill the following requirements:

-AEG because gas guns are more effort to maintain

-Compact, preferably as small as possible as the place I go is VERY close quarters

-Large mag size, mags are expensive and I spam a lot

-Relatively cheap, no more than £250

-FPS limit at the place I go to is 294

I have been considering the following guns:

https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/ares-amoeba-am-001-m4-ccr-efcs

https://www.evike.com/products/63921/

Any recommendations or advice is strongly appreciated!

294 FPS limit yikes that's a tough one probably going to need a quick change spring gun so you can downgrade it easily.

Classic Army X9 can be had for around your money and should have a spring you can change.

Ahh, old Hockley and the lowest FPS limits in the UK! I have found something that is perfect for your needs and underbudget (Just)

https://www.camoraids.com/shop/airsoft-weapons/airsoft-personal-defence-weapon/tm-mp5a5-high-cycle-aeg/

Tokyo Marui MP5A5 High Cycle, under Hockleys FPS limit out of the box at 275FPS, the hop has the TM magic dust, comes with a drum mag as standard and additional high caps are very cheap for Mp5's. Its very fast firing with excellent trigger response. Its quite small and has the retractable stock. I have the Aug High Cycle and it actually has better range then my mates fully upgraded Evo that cost twice as much.

The best thing about it is that Camoraids are based on Canvey island, so not far from you. Hop on the C2C to Benfleet and take a bus.

Check out the rate of fire!

Personally, knowing Hockley and the owners well, if you buy a gun from them, they’ll look after you.

Pete the tech will make any gun meet their limit, I might even consider selling you my ARP556 I bought from them only two weeks ago lol.

If you want to go for the MP5, the Hy-Cycle TM’s are awesome (my daughter has one, but it’s munched it’s gearbox twice now, bad Luck I guess ) Albert can probably get you one.

Drop me a PM if you want to meet up on the range  or Practical Pistol on a Tuesday night

is the TM mp5 a full V2 gearbox? Seems crazy cheap. Hard to argue with that reccomendation out the box shoots the FPS you need and it's a TM!

Certainly is!

 Ares honey badger:

Quick spring change system, sleek, compact, light, plenty of rail space for accessories, fast semi auto trigger response, m4 mags and gearbox so parts are easy to source.

Maybe slighter bigger than what you're after but a safe bet and will also suffice in woodland settings.

Had mine since they come out and not had a single issue.

You may have to pay slightly over your budget unless you go second hand.

  • Mostly Retired Moderators

Given your list of requirements, the Specna SA-E18 fits the bill again:

•Only £160

•GATE mosfet as standard

•Quick change spring

•Two midcaps in the box

•Tiny

•Rotary Hop-Up

•Really cool looking

If the E18 is too small, take a look at the E10. Essentially the same, but with a Crane stock

You always seem to hit out with an underdog I've never heard of and it's amazing quality. I am never one to suggest a longer barrel for airsoft but damn this is tiny.

Performance out the box is as good or better than any other similar guns. Build quality is spot on and with the split gearbox any repairs or upgrades are very simple to do.

Only other stubby AR that was as nice was the Krytac SDP but they are discontinued.

Thanks for all your advice!!! 👍👍

Reckon I’m probably gonna get either:

- Specna as-e18

- Arp556

- Ics cxp 15 pistol m4

ARP556 is awesome, as I said, if you want to try some stuff, give me a shout. Daughters Patriot is now perfect and up for sale, I could even chuck in a stock for it lol

Any G&G gun with a G2 Gearbox will have the quick change spring system. After owning a G&G cm16 r8 I love them as a starter gun an a platform to build off of. As for the newer guns I cannot stress this enough I don't know much about. As G&G have been updating their lineup quite a bit
