3 pin Lipo battery?

3 pin is for 2 cells aka 7.4, 4 pin is for 3 cells aka 11.1v

 

Depending on how the charger works it should simply ignore the missing cell or you'll be able to set it to correctly charge a 2 cell.

The lipo balance lead runs as follows by way of explanation. 

 

Common ground (normally black)

then one red lead per cell. So for a 2S (7.4v) it’s three pins.

9.9v LiFe also use a 4 pin port as well .👍

What model of charger?  Got a picture?  If it's one of the cheapo VTE600 clones, then you're find to just plug it in, but be sure that any switch on it is set to Li-Po rather than Life.

cheers gents, its the exact charger you have shown in the pic. Done some research on lipos now and all batteries charged ready for tomorrow and shall be purchasing a battery tester. 

Amazes me that the charger can be so cheapy made when charging something that has potential to cause damage.
