Pistol & Shotgun Night Games at Urban Assault

Last night saw the second evening of pistol/shotgun night games at UA after an absence of 2 years. 4 weeks earlier, myself and Markuz attended the first game night with around 20 players, yesterday that number had increased to I think 37.

The games are really well organised by the two marshalls who really get the teams pumped up. As usual a warm up game of capture the flag to get us moving, we then had 2 games of sweep and clear (defenders have 1 life) followed by a lengthy game of Protect the VIP - which was really bloody tense at the end, with the VIP almost making it into the safe zone (well done to the marshall for being brave!) The last game of the evening was the daft as always zombie attack which was a great way to finish and descended into anarchy.

The guys who run the evening are taking on board any comments/suggestions we have which is great, a good addition being the lights put on the stairwells.

I think my only complaint, if you can call it that, and it's probably going to be an unpopular one, is that the Socom pistols are unbalancing the games due to their huge range when fitted with suppressors. I would like it if players removed those to reduce the range/power so it kept the games closer and less like trying to avoid snipers in the open ground.

The next game is 27th June, the gates open at 6.45pm and games go until roughly 9.30/10.00pm

There's been talk of it closing for ages but still no decision on the development side.

The site is probably so full of asbestos that it would cost a fortune just to level the place. So we're making the most of it while we can.

I think this was built before regulations were a thing 1917-1936 according to the wiki. Most of the buildings are shells anyway with a lot of innards stripped out. To be honest the vandals that often like to visit the site have probably burnt anything of danger anyway! 😄

I got some footage from the evening game - it's not amazing,  I need to improve my helmet mount so it doesn't clatter about so much (that's the bloody clack-clack you can hear when I'm running), and my camera is only cheap so it struggles indoors.

You don't quite see it in the shot but as soon as I got up on it, enemy came storming out the door I'd just looked at, both shots JUST missed me, nearly fell off the bloody thing!

And yes the vandals choice of graffiti is interesting to say the least. One such pearl of wisdom states

"People died just so you can enjoy your airsoft shit" - we still don't know what that means...

Tried that with the card, I'll rework it somehow, or try a thin but of foam around it.

I never did work out who "Feng" was (if that lovely message is still there on the way in to site!)

Socom pistols? Are you referring to the MK23's by ASG and Marui? Yeah those things shoot planes out the sky out the box, they're pretty amazing although it's a shame they're no fun to shoot.

I stopped going to UA many years ago as back then the nepotism and cliques was too much to bare although that was so long ago I imagine things have changed since then.

Yep that's the ones mate, there's a number of players who go through chrono and they go straight back in the car, shooting well over 350FPS, it's silly.

It's surprising how many people say they used to go to UA years ago but stopped - I've found it really enjoyable, but I have only been going since October last year. Sure there's some regulars who know the marshalls but they're a laugh and I guess there's probably new groups of regulars going now, myself included.

Give me a shout if you're looking to give it another go!

Id love to goto the next one but I work Wednesday eves :( Pistol only games are super fun and would be wicked at Upwood!

Found it a lovely site when I went (last year or maybe the year before, been a while) time. Lots of interesting cover and ways around the enemy through building etc.

Need to return this year for sure! will likely be a weekend game though.

And I WILL take my MK23 with silencer, not my fault its a beast of a pistol :P although mine is only 330fps it still shoots straight and far

Yeah that’s the problem there, it can be done so easily by people who don’t wanna play honestly and we all know about the cheating!!!

just ruins the game for others

Come to a night game at Tuddenham, you’ll love it as much  :)

I guess I have to keep my new g18c on semi Andy? Are we meeting at McDonald's for dinner 630pm -7pm for dinner?

It's the one near tesco pe29 7eg if anyone wants to meet up before the game. We get plenty of time to jam a couple of burgers down.

Dress code for dinner camo clothing.  Should be able to spot each other ; )

Another great night with pistols. Our team won all 3 gamed and then had zombie mode to finish up.

It's really good practice using a sidearm all evening. Racked up lots of multi kills and revived the vip and escorted him to the finish line right on the final whistle for the win.

Hope some of you guys can make the next one.

Another great Pistol & Shotgun evening at UA on Wednesday. Player numbers were lower than normal (possibly due to the heat) at 16, but that meant two teams of 8 and much more spaced out tactics.

The first game was the usual warm up capture the flag. With lower numbers, flanking was a very real possibility, me and @Markuz took out 2 sneaky guys in one wing on the building by jumping out of the windows and advancing up the outside.

Second game was massively intense, a new one called Rogue Agent - one marshal has a side arm and he is the agent. You have to capture him by taking him down, at which point he is then on your team. You then had to take him to a point in the building and hold it for a full 10 minutes, without him coming under fire. This was a great dynamic. Rather than just sitting in a corner, you had to get 1 player to keep the rogue in one place, then the rest of the team had to push outwards to keep the enemy away. With 4 entry points to the holding area, this was extremely tough and resulted in a huge firefight. Again some excellent tactics from both sides, creating weak points in the defence and pushing through.

The next game was a control point game where 1 team had to defend a series of points (shown by flashing lights) and had 2 lives. Attackers had unlimited lives and had to turn out the lights. This was very tricky, we were the attacking team and because night was falling the parts of the building we had to attack were pitch black. Turn on a torch, you were hit, try to reach the lights, you were hit! We managed to get all but 1, but the enemy dug in well and truly around it and we just had to keep throwing ourselves at it to no avail.

Final game was the tried and tested zombie run, again a huge laugh and some quite tactical zombies in play!

2 great teams this week, no aggression, jokes all round, lots of high-fives - brilliant evening!

glad you had fun!

so im guessing i'd need more than two mags for the rogue agent game!?!....or an excuse to double up my pistols...? :)

Did see the email saying it may be called off due to low numbers so you must have hit the minimum?

i just need to get to one now

Yeah I run with 4 mags which just about covers a game, but I do carry a pistol speed loader which will do another 4 mags.

They say their min is 20 players, there was 30 booked so 14 didn't turn up which is a bit crap

I managed with 2 mags but I carry  speed loader so when walking to spawn I can reload. Will be better with 4 mags but I'm waiting on stock of 50 round extended mags for my g18c : )

atmosphere was really good. Everyone had fun.

that last light Andy was in the corridor of doom. Make a few mad charges trying to take the odd defender out. But we couldn't use windows that game which stopped us flanking.

I was one of them regulars and just last weekend started playing again. Very happy to see pistol nights back on and will be looking to come along at some point. And very new to this forum 🙄
