Hello to everyone that reads this post.

My name is Kroshy and I'm 32 and live in North Hampshire.

So the really about me and why I'm here... Well in my younger years from 19 to 24 I played Tournament paintball and I was a dirtbag bunkering people left and right and it gave me such a buzz. Coming off of the field with welts and bruises the size of golf balls and waking up the next day to go to work as stiff as wood. Oh, the good old days. well, that had to come to an end and I was forced to sell my prized kit to pay the everyday bills.
Many years fly by and a mate from work invites me to his stag doo (2 months ago from now). So what did we do on this stag do... well... AIRSOFT and then a bar, a casino, two nightclubs and just to top it off a strip club where I became a poor person. This one trip to play airsoft made me have all these great memories come flooding back, the thrill of the kill and the fear of being shot. Oh my god, I missed that! but it was also so different.

I came off the field shattered but not covered in vegetable glycerin and dye. I didn't have to go stand behind a net curtain while I was dead and waiting for the round to end to collect my pots, I didn't just have one life per round, I could run back and respawn. As for the welts and bruises, the worst ones came from the stag group as to be expected.

Since then I've been watching review/tech/comparison videos. I've been watching YouTubers like Silo and Desert Fox for a bit of gameplay and I thought to myself "Hell I need to get into Airsoft"

So I've started compiling info on -

What brands are trusted and reliable

Best AEG platform for a new starter

Costs

Secondary load outs

Apparel (trousers,shirt,tac vest etc)

So on and so on...

So what I'm looking for here is community, reviews and recommendations of sites. Also I want to start a Scrub to Killer thread showing all the upgrades and new tac gear as my life as an airsofter progresses.

So any way

Talk soon

Kroshy

Roger also talks about himself in the third person, like the athletes do. [chest thump]

Great to hear that you've been bitten by the bug.  I hope your finances are in better shape than when you were paintballing - you're going to need them. ;)

Welcome Kroshy! I'm not sure about local sites near you, but I'm sure someone will come along shortly to recommend some. There is a list here that is currently being populated - http://www.airsofteventsuk.info/

The new players guide is a good start if you have not already read it

I'd recommend you play a few games with hire guns, get a feel for what style of AEG you like (most airsofting are really friendly and will check out their AEGs) One you have played enough games to qualify for UKARA then get that and you can buy a RIF rather than a two tone.

As for cost, if you have a decent amount of will power you can keep to a low budget if needed 🙄 This also applies to what to wear. You don't need all the camo and vests and loads of pouches unless you want them. Plenty of folk play in casual clothes.

What I would say is pick up your own eye and face protection rather than using the hire stuff. You will be more comfortable.

Enjoy!

Hi

Welcome to the forum.

Don't jump in too deep until you have played a few skirmishes, lots of good guides on the forum.

Eversley is in North Hants, there are two sites there, Gunman and Ambush Adventures.  I've only played at Ambush. It's a good site for beginners.

The Mall is popular for CBQ, it's in Reading, but not that far.

Cheers

G

Oh the finances are in much better shape ;) and that's a good thing considering I have my eye on the LVAO or the SAI GRY :D

Thanks for the advice, I've already read most of the new player stuff on here already :D

I also have a mate that is lending me his M4 until I decide to buy my own rifle, so no rentals for me woot-woot.

But.... low budget, ah hell no. The day I decide that airsoft "is for me" I'm going all out. But not to the point where I have better gear than the soldiers protecting our quaint little country

Welcome! :)

Great to see somebody read the pinned posts ahead of time for once!

If you've got the cash then absolutely buy whatever you want. I do recommend the whole 'try before you buy' thing though.

If you see something you like at your local ask if you can have a look at it. Great way to experiment and see what's best for you without putting any money down first.

True that, folk are always keen to show off their toys.  Comparing a basic budget AEG to some of the fully pimped out guns out there is startling... but then so is what they've spent on them.
