Over a year ago, I bought the expensive paperweight that is the PTS mega arms 308. Now.. while it was a beautiful and well built looking gun externally, the FPS was much to low for the DMR it was designed to be, and the KWA hop was next to useless. It remained on a shelf gathering dust until I spoke to someone at work that told me about airsoft engenuity, that soecialises in 3D printing.

Just a few miles down the road from me, I sent him a message and went down to drop my gun off with him and have a chat. I wanted a new nozzle with higher power and a fix for the hop up. He showed me his LM4 (KWA m4 gbb) with a 3D printed nozzle and hop chamber.  The gun had thousands of rounds through the nozzle and was absolutely solid. He even handed me a spare and asked me to try and snap it, to which I failed miserably lol.

After discussing what I was wanting from the gun, I left it in his very capable hands.

Now for the parts themselves...

The nozzle is printed from carbon fibre reenforced nylon, and is a much better design than the standard kwa one. Instead of a skirt to seal the back of the nozzle, I now have a nice O-ring and a potted rear for a great air seal. The rear also twist locks into the nozzle, so you can swap it out for another to change the FPS without the inconsistency of an NPAS valve.

With the power and consistency where I want it, I now needed it to shoot how it looks. The Hop chamber converts the gun to run standard gbbr barrels and buckings. It currently has a maple leaf 70 autobot bucking and an RA tech barrel. I cannot put into words how much this has transformed the gun. I HATE kwa hops with a passion. They have no real adjustment and can’t lift anything worth shooting. The airsoft Engenuity chamber will happily sky a .43 BB in my testing, so there isn’t really a BB anybody is going to use that this thing won’t lift. In comparison, I spent £50 on a TNT chamber and it was abysmal. No better than standard and kept smashing BB’s.

Shooting test to follow soon!

Maybe I missed it, but how much were the bespoke parts?

Cheers

The lm4 and 308 nozzle  is £29.99 plus postage, additional rear sections of the nozzle are £5. He’s thinking of having set FPS ones and some at very low FPS and the user just sands down the end to increase the FPS to their precise requirements. Hop unit is £19.99 plus postage.

Thanks, was good to have an idea of prices in case I need anything down the line.

Cheers

Very few people doing aftermarket LM4 stuff (let alone good designs and in the UK) and the hop is definitely the one down side of the gun in my experience.  Thanks for posting this up, very handy.

No worries! He's a great guy and his weapon of choice is a an LM4, so everything is rigorously tested before it saw the light of day. That hop unit has transformed the gun. He does all sorts of stuff though, from 3D printed mp9 silencers, WE deagle barrel stabilizers, tappet plates, printed dan western shells (and other shells), the optirod cleaning rod etc. I'm thinking of dropping off my MWS to see if he can print nozzles for that.

What range and fps are you getting? Would this be game legal and playable with, say, .25s?

FPS was 430 FPS set up as a DMR, but it’s getting a new rear nozzle piece to shoot 400. With a maple leaf bucking and RA tech barrel I was throwing .4 BB’s past 70m. I was hitting a 12” plate at 50m easily. He can build you a nozzle with a set FPS if you want 350fps

I spent all day yesterday at Airsoft Engenuity, ostensibly to help

out a bit with testing of his new CF nozzle for the KWA Vector. What a great day.

The nozzle, similar in principle to the LM4 above, is just brilliant, the design and printing process fascinating, and hospitality superb.

I can’t recommend his tech skills enough, being an aerospace design engineer by trade, airsoft is a walk in the park for Charles. I can’t wait for the finalised product in about a weeks time.

He also has a few more ideas around the Vector, including a version of his LM4 hop which should be very interesting.

you live local to me then? He really is a great guy. He's currently got hold of my 308 GBBR and gas P90.

ouch! 15 minutes for me.. He's worth it though. Anyone who designs shit for the Eurofighter is welcome to work on my guns!

Up to now, I haven’t broken a nozzle or anything, so I’m good in that respect. I do have the airsoft God that is SixG R hopping one of my Mws as we speak though 😎

In two minds about trusting someone with a desk as messy as this, on one hand it shows stress and poor managment, on the other its a sign of a genius, as i tell myself anyway.

Sounds like this guy leans towards the genius spectrum!

I just got my PTS Mega MKM (LM4 with gucci externals) back from him and the nozzle is superb and I think the barrel and hop are excellent too, I'll have to drill a hole in my outer in order to make the hop adjust accessible, (something he didn't do).

It now shoots really well, very crisp and satisfying and much more consistent - not as much on gas as his HPA setup he was testing it on but still a marked improvement.

I think HPA beckons as some of that improvement will be down to the unseasonably warm spell we're having right now and I fully expect it to get crapper come winter and having tried it on his HPA the consistency was great, (albeit not sure about the amount of dangly stuff that would involve: HPA line + sling + pistol lanyard = a right old tangle  or OCD levels of ritual to get all that working right together).
