Hello.

so, i recently bought an mp5a5 (g&g) airsoft gun, and i have a (fake) eotech scope on its rail.. my question is, is it possible to take off the current rail and replace it with a longer one? (120mm instead of the current)

also, if it is possible to replace it with the longer rail, will it be possible to mount a magnifier with a flip sight mount?

will i have enough space?

The rail looks to be the standard claw fitting that H&K use on a few models. You should be able to remove the 4 grub screws that hold the rail clamps and put on a longer variant.

The long rails exist but I haven't seen any aimed at airsoft use. There are a number of real steel ones that are much longer but are also expensive. Fab defence do a few variants.

The cheapest option might be to replace the whole RIS section for one of the plastic 2 part ris sections. It won't be as nice as the G&G one, but you will get the rail space you want.

There is also a CNC alu variant of the same design.

And what if i buy something like this... will it have enought space to add a flip mount on that extra thing there (the one sticking out from the 4 legs)

the current one that comes with the mp5a5 g&g is a 9cm one with space to mount of 5.7 cm (cuz of the legs)

i calculated the extra space that add up, it should be like 4.7 cm..

so, can a flip mount be mounted on it?

You could try running the stock one with that one. It might work but it depends on the upper and how well it's made.

It's not going to have the flat lock point on the top of the receiver so you might find the extra one slides about.

As for running flip up sights, 120mm is pretty short. You would do better with a riser block that you can sight through. That way you can use the existing iron sights and still have an optic on. It's how I have my G3 setup.

And are you sure that the 145mm rail will fit on the mp5a5 (g&g)

I don't know how long your stock rail is. I actually thought that one was 127mm it has 2 length descriptions! Typical ebay. At least you can see the sort of product and go searching for the correct one!

Those risers come in loads of lengths. So measure what you have and work from there.

One last thing, are you sure that the normal rails will mount on the mp5? Not because of length (the mp5 has like 140mm- and about 150mm if you take off the iron sight), but i dont think the normal ones can reach to grab it... if you know what i mean.. the actual base doesnt look tall enough to strap on it.. but im not sure

You still need the claw mount,

I'm making a picture up to show you.

You can see that the Claw mount goes on first. (red)

Then you have some options I put a long riser (blue) on the picture but you could go with a short one as well. It just needs the hole so you can still sight the iron sights.

You could also go with a sight that already has mounts that have a hole to spot through. There are loads of options.

The thing you don't want to do is try to put a full length rail on to then try and put flip ups on. It's a waste of the perfectly good iron sights that are already on the gun.

Hope that helps.
