Post here with bugs and critique.

Already potentially found by @Sitting Duck - some notifications for 'questions' not coming through. Potentially down to the posts merging when replying to someone.

Improvement: Make the thumbnails use up all the thumbnail space and not sit with a wired whitespace to each size if a vertical picture.  Fixed

Hyperlink to view the next page of 'questions' in a Classified ad doesn't seem to load.

I'd like to see questions by the same user in one area instead of creating a new box for each question.

Clicking a notification doesn't 'jump' to where the reaction/comment is. Instead it just brings you to the ad.

To get people to start posting in the new classifieds perhaps one could do with renaming? At the moment they're both called 'Classifieds'.

Not a bug.  As the strap line for Feedback says - Whether it is good or bad we want to know about who you just sold/bought from!

The Seller/Buyer Feedback sub-forum needs to be located in with the Classifieds as well, so that we can see comments about previous sales. There are a few members that I would not buy from based on reading their feedback.

At the very least I can have it prompt someone with the link as they close their listing. At best I might have a slightly more in-depth, on-profile feedback system we can implement akin to the way ZeroIn do it. If that's the case it's entirely possible that I can then call those values and display people's feedback on their listings - this isn't possible with a subforum due to the adhoc nature of how they're formed, but if it were added to your profile then finding ones feedback would be quite easy.

Something for the weekend though :)

A separate feedback system just for sales would be handy. Perhaps a rating out of 10 next to the reputation icon would work? This then links to an area on the users profile for sales feedback.

On completion of a sale a user would be given the option of leaving feedback similar to how it is on eBay - with an area on the profile showing who they traded with and a quick message from the user on how it went.

As far as I know many of the out of the box solutions already do that, yes. Really what I'd be looking to do is linking it and the new classifieds together in such a way that makes feedback immediately obvious and encourages a user to leave some when they're done too. Maybe I could even have it trigger an email reminder a week after or something, but that's something I think would need further discussion given that it's a bit more intrusive.

Any limits to current sale items ???

Just wondering if say 3 items or 5 items max listing at one time running

Just to stop possible traders/scammers (not saying traders are scammers btw)

but to limit being flooded by "new members" all of a sudden with nearly new stuff

Most of the time this crap shouldn't be needed tbh

But just to limit new member listing up say 2 G36's, 2 AK's, 2 M4's never skirmished etc...

A limit and then an option to notify an admin for post approval. This limit will increase or decrease depending on the user's sales feedback.

Most people put a bunch of stuff in one post though. Could just be a waste of time.

Obviously anyone scamming sould be dipped in boiling oil before being full auto'd by everyone who has ever been scammed. But wouldnt a trader who offered good deals be welcomed? Especially if they did special prices for af-uk members. Please dont shout at me as im asking out of ignorance and certainly wouldnt want to see the forum commercialised. But cheap consumables?? May be even af-uk branded?? Im all for bringing the cost of playing down.

Pease add more sub categories like zeroin. Where do I put my gas sniper? Sniper is listed under spring and it isn’t a GBBR. Same as gas shotguns.

Cant we just copy/paste their sales layout. It’s much less dicking around to look for specific stuff

Just because Zero In has a layout, does not make it better, and certainly do not want a copy pasta of that. A gas shotgun is still a gas gun, and how many are ever actually up for sale. I would just search on word shotgun, and hope the seller is smart enough to include the fact that is what he is selling in the title. Agree, may need to change the sniper category. Maybe also include a Two-Tone guns section to put all those in one place away from the RIFs.

I do think we can do better on the categories, but we're working on this. Certainly less can be more when it comes to it, but again we do need to strike a better balance I think.

I never understood the point of forum feedback... you make a suggestion (Zeroin IS the place to go to sell stuff and it’s not just me that thinks it) and you get the typical “bleh bleh we don’t need that!” attitude.

Zeroin IS better for buying and selling. 10 seconds after the lights got turned on the only section being posted in was the sales. It’s not got any magic discount code or anything like that, it’s just better laid out. This forum is great, but it needs to start listening

I don't disagree necessarily, but it can be hard to separate whether ZeroIn is better for selling because more people use it or if it's better for selling because it's better. I'm inclined to think the former given just how much downtime its had in the past year or so.

Also removing forum feedback because you think people shit on every suggestion? That's a pretty unfair characterisation. I was in fact mostly agreeing with you there that it's not where we want it right now.

Forum Feedback - Tell us what you think of AF-UK! Is there anything missing?

Just because you like an idea, does not mean that everyone will, and I have a counter viewpoint to "ZeroIn IS Bestest".  However, I am not deciding what is or is not in the Classifieds, that is down to proffrink. Feedback is a way of offering up suggestions or critique. Hopefully some other members will add their thoughts.

I actually prefer the classifieds here to ZeroIn, a lot easier to search, easier to read, and use a better layout. (Might be because I do everything on phone rather than desktop)

A note on this, the new classified pages doesn’t format well with phones. You can’t scroll sideways to view the other listings easy enough.(if you can’t tell I’m a PC Noob)

I will look into that, thanks.

Regarding ZeroIn's classifieds format vs. ours: Again I want to stress the current format is far from final and we will vote in some way on how the categories are formatted.

Just so you know, my response to this is informative - I don't hold the keys here anymore.

It's very hard to please all parties here, you may have an idea, but there's 15,000 members who haven't posted their opinion on this. Do they agree, do they not? Zero In works for Zero In because that's what people on Zero In are used to. If you migrate from there, you probably have a hard time adjusting.

The current forums are laid out based on the theory that over-categorisation leads to a lack of trust as a lot of forums/categories can look empty. This leads to.. "no one uses this, I don't want to buy from there", "this looks like bad advice, no one really contributes". As a forum that was growing, this proved to work very well. These comments have arisen in the past, and for sure, there may now be room for improvement (always is!). This wouldn't be the first time that the sales section would have been split up into more categories. I think the response is that the guys are happy to change and update, but just jumping straight to someone else's solution because it's "perfect" doesn't make it the same here.

I hope you aren't dissuaded from leaving feedback, because it's an important part of any community, but the guys have a very fine balance to run. As soon as any change is created, people will react instantly.. they'll get used to it (although they don't like to be told so), and that will be the new ideal.. until someone comes along and tweaks things again.

I trust the guys to make the right decisions on balance based upon their knowledge of the community history and how things have gone before and I would encourage you to do the same. This is the only place that does that.. we haven't been down for 5 months, had an insecure website, advertise our own business/run and agenda or have old fashioned rules.. that's come about from a flexible administration.

Sorry if it has been mentioned but please add filtering if possible. Maybe with saving the set of filters and maybemaybe a notification when something gets posted that matches the filter.

Perhaps the ability to tag the item under multiple categories would hit two birds with one stone?

I’m not saying “Zeroin is bestest”. This forum does a lot of things much better. Instead of my opinion I’ll give you some facts..

in the one day Z1 has been up there have been 38 new classifieds just in weapons, not including wanted/swaps or any accessories or gear. This is on a forum that has 1 new post.

There is no downside to extra categories. Sure some are redundant like gbb lmg or HPA pistol, but for the most part they work great. When things of the same nature are pushed together you stop getting stupid prices. I saw that just yesterday with a GHK g5. Someone else advertised one for £100 less and all of a sudden the dreamer dropped his price and it became competitive.

If you want a loaf of bread in Tesco, do you want to go straight to the bread isle or do you want to go searching through the 40 ‘food’ isles?

if someone wants an electric sniper/DMR for example.. on Z1 i click on the category and I’m met with m110’s, SVD’s, PSG-1, sr-25 etc. I don’t have to wade through 14 pages of combat machines to find one. Or worst not go back far enough and spend too much, only for someone to bump a better offer after their 7 day period.

If theres enough variations of a catagory, there’s no reason not to have one. There’s is NO disadvantage to a more refined choice. We’ll get better and more competitive prices and easier searches without having to have the bump police out in force, because things won’t get buried after a day.

I dont know if this this is an option due to the nature or layout of the forum. I don’t know how they work on the technical side, but let’s not kid ourselves and say it’s better to look through 20 pages in the hopes that we find what we’re looking for.
