So i have a GNG firehawk stock that is shooting 330fps, im adding a Gate Titan, TightBore Barrel, 13:1 gears and a High toruqe motor.

Was wondering what spring i would need to keep my fps at 320-330 due to the increase fps of the tightbore

Not being funny - just change the gears to 16:1 or 13:1

You got mugged when G&G used a 8 tooth bevel instead of 10 tooth

This pushed the ratio up from 18.65 to 22.38:1

THAT is why FireHawks are a bit slower in general

The motor inside SHOULD be a blue powerful motor (24k-ish)

it is only a smidge slower than an orange ifrit (25k) so both are pretty decent

However if you got a grey 18k std motor - yeah that is a slow 27/28tpa

(so check motor before rushing out buying stuff you might not desperately need)

If anybody has a blue powerful motor in their G&G's, in good decent condition - keep it

It ain't bad, it is very likely the 8 tooth bevel robbing you of rof/response

I'd suggest a 16:1 set on blue motor

Or

13:1 on SHS/RA HT if you wish or they chucked in a crappy 18k motor

(G&G do bloody change stuff, one box is hex screws, next one is cross phillips

Or usually bronzey bushings - check for wear under spur gear and places

If worn, replace with 8mm steel type - actually wise idea to replace under gears)

check ya motor first of all....

go to 4:22 - soz it's in French but if ya got blue, that could do

not far behind a SHS in the end

How does it shoot atm - it is designed for CQB but most accuracy is down to hop bucking nub

You have a 120mm barrel aprox in between a 111mm MP5k & 141mm PDW

I often thought of getting a 141mm tbb but not easy to find and WTF - how much for a short bit of pipe ???

You can chuck a longer barrel in there but then fps could increase due to "joule creep"

Many FH owners have done this and found guns shoot hotter - IT'S A CQB GUN FFS !!!!

The spring in there is about a m115 to compensate for joule loss

(and G&G's average compression sealing)

It overvolumes a bit to give a loud CRACK that gets on everybody' nerves with duck amplifier

Thus you fit longer tbb you will get fps increase

(due to gearing being eased back with 8 tooth bevel for beefy spring maybe 16:1 on blue motor)

Ahhhhhhh FFS

Everytime, I start off with a "right keep it short & sweet" - pahhhh then as per usual off I go again

One day I should just do a guide for Combat Machines coz as usual it is same ol' same ol' stuff

First things first - USE IT FFS

Use the bloody thing for at least 6 months or a year or so

learn the gun & crap, know its limits (and your own)

After a while when it might need a service or it busts....

THEN think about service/upgrades/go faster stripes etc.......

YEAH that will cover most of it all

Finally - Gate Titan, well you can fit what you like in there

Me personally.....

£140 gun & say £90 mosfet ???

To me, just my opinion though it is your gun like I said...

When people say about Titan or Spectre in a CM16

Well that is kinda like fitting a cruise control unit on a Mini Metro

(or Fiat Punto old banger for the more younger members not aware of Metro or worse Allegro/All Agro's)

At a quick fix you could change motor, especially ifyou got the Grey std 18k motor

But you won't see a massive difference until you change gearing if you got 8 tooth bevel in there

But like I say - just use the damn thing

not a lot of work but perhaps if unsure, learn to shim or get somebody to do the service/upgrades

(though then again there are some clowns, hence many do their own work if they can)

All I'm saying don't go nutz on mega super duper go faster mofo stuff

at the same time don't f**k ya gun up either if you can help it

Yeah - gotta work on making my posts way more concise I think

ahahah you do know how to keep it short and simple;)

But thank you this has helped me out alot the only thing is im really not impressed with the guns trigger response (Hense the gate titan) and the main reasons i bought it was to test out the upgrading side of things. I wont go all out with the purchase and ill hold out on the motor and see how it goes, if it messes up then i will fix it XD only way i will learn

Well if you want more info on this subject.....

basically just skip to page 2

They originally launched the FH about 4 years ago Spring 2014

The very very first FH's were da nutz, quickly getting rave reviews

However the sneaky bastids changed the spec of later batches

When I ripped open a std FH that was much slower than a TopTech one I got

it had a 8 tooth bevel not regular 10 tooth bevel

changing the ratio to assist pulling the stronger spring often fitted in very short guns

Still to this day I haven't opened the TopTech motor to find exact spec inside (one day)

But I'd say FH is a bit sluggish due to gearing mostly

If motor is a blue motor then you can keep it - not far behind the SHS HT

if it is grey 18k std motor (shouldn't be but they do mix/change stuff around in batches)

if it's grey 18k then yeah that is slow/crap motor - get SHS HT

Blue's are fitted to better CM16's like FH & lovely CM18 models

plus they was used in many TopTech's until the recent Orange ifrit came along about 2 years ago

Trust me - if there is an expert in break stuff to learn the hard way then I'm a top contender for G&G

Try not to go nutz & make stuff worse/broken if you can

I haven't read your comments in about a year Duck, because TL;DR, but I do admire your persistence to give these full detailed answers.

As stated 99.9% is same ol' same ol'

Really should just do one tutorial on:

"Upgrading my Combat Machine....."

Trigger has done one - " Yeah DON'T BOTHER "

BUT would be easier - then link to that, but think 75% will still create a new post than use search

(or read older posts, take heed of sound advice etc.... (wish I too listened to others but hey ho))

Still - when we don't get new posts it can be like a morgue in here at times

though the schools have broken up so expect a few JustBBGuns too at times

(No the B500A1 is NOT a good gun)
