THE TM MWS thread

Some info regarding Mapp Gas. Today I was out playing in the cold: 9C but no wind. I did a test using 3 different gases, so here are the results:

14kg Puff Dino: 1J

Smart Gas Power Green Gas (they claim it works in low temps): 1.16J

Mapp Gas: 1.2J

But the real difference was in recoil and cool down. Mapp had no issue firing on full auto even after I emptied the mag by releasing all gas at once (so the mag was really cold). Sorry for no pictures or video but I had no one to help me with that today. I will continue testing even in lower temp.

Second outing with MWS today and after using red gas (nuprol 3) it was fantastic couldn't get enough.

Managed to get 2 full mags out of one gas (12c) which is what I'd expect, just looking for a good red dot now and should be perfect.

Oh and a rear sling plate.

Sounds promising..... although I may leave my MWS for the warmer months. Unless that is next Sunday we have a heat wave? What’s the chances of that? Hmmmm🤔

By the way, why do you need a rear sling plate. The MWS comes with one already yeah?

My MWS didn't come with a sling plate able to put a sling through. Just a blank one.

Apologies for putting it here and not as a wanted in the classifieds, here just makes more sense to me!

Don't suppose any of you fine folks have a stock trigger (part number MGG2-44) and/or trigger guard pin (part number MGG2-145) going spare that you'd consider selling?

In the process of taking the GRY kit off mine and have found out the seller opted to not include a majority of the fittings or the stock trigger which was a LOVELY surprise. Not spotting the trigger wasn't there is admittedly my fault for missing something so obvious, and I'd foolishly assumed all the fittings were in the box of bits... silly me. PIcked up a few bits from the classifieds on here and was going to order these two parts from Eagle6 (both in stock this afternoon), only to find out the hammer unit is now out of stock. Another lovely surprise. On the verge of assuming this RIF is cursed and chucking it in the cupboard for the foreseeable future!

Links to the two parts I'm looking for are below, Impulse101 is the other option but I imagine I'm looking at a fair old wait for that to arrive so figured I'd chance it!

https://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/product/view/id/2576/s/tokyo-marui-m4a1-mws-hammer-unit-trigger-for-m4-gbbr-series/#
https://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalog/product/view/id/3037/s/tokyo-marui-m4a1-mws-lower-frame-trigger-guard-pin-for-m4-gbbr-series/ (Yes, that's £6 for a bloody pin... but none of the ones in my box of tricks fit)

An another note, has anyone used the UAC Steel Hammer set? I've had to open the hammer unit as is and have one of these sets. Weighing up if it's worth throwing it in there while I've got it in bits.

Nice one, thanks again for the info, if you can remember what sort of FPS are you getting with what weight BB please as I don't know how to convert joules to FPS and I don't think it's even possible without BB weight? Did it stay under 350fps on mapp, I realise the nozzle should dial that out and send most of the extra energy to blowback?

Additionally is that rothenberger mapp pro perchance?

I was testing on 0.3g bbs. On Mapp FPS were over [email protected], Puff Dino was [email protected] and smart gas was giving [email protected]. Using NPAS is a must in such case. I used Rothenberger. When it’s below 10C imho it makes sense switching to Mapp but some small npas adjustments may be required (however on lighter bbs it may not be a problem).

I had to google Maap gas if I’m being honest. it’s all beginning to look a tad ‘inflammable like my bbq lol.  So why not just use black gas? Will that not work in colder temperatures?

Mapp is as dangerous as green gas, they are all highly inflammable. Black gas is just Nuprol’s trade mark, what it is chemically I don’t know but Red and Black most likely contain propylene. Mapp is just cheaper.

Ahhh gotcha.... do you need to use any additional  bits or additional kit to use the Mapp gas? I assume the Mapp bottle has a nozzle which fits into the MWS valves?

No idea if it's of any use (depends what sling you're using and how you're attaching it I guess) but I've just purchase this lot because I needed some of the fittings etc. If that sling plate will be sufficient for your needs send me your address in a PM and I'll send it out to you once I receive it as it's surplus to my requirements.

Nope. You need the same adapter that is used for propane bottles. I use this one

Thanks mate, ready to go to war now! Real propellant smells like shit too and poisons you with lead and after s full day on the range cleaning gpmgs you look like you just spent a day down the pits.

As an added bonus I'm glad it smells, so that I know I've got a leak.

Cheers

There are tons of red dot options, but I can recommend the Vortex Crossfire.  I have them on airsoft and real guns and they work great. If they can stand up to many hudreds of rounds of what my 12 gauge shooting slugs dishes out, I feel certain that they could last 100 years of continuous shooting on the MWS. There is no lighting situation in which they can't operate and present a good dot.  reasonable price relative to the quality.

Don't forget the lifetime replacement if it gets shot out / dropped / run over / eaten by the dog 😁👍

+1 on vortex crossfire - the last red dot you will buy.
