All I can say is buy the best you can with the budget you have, everyone will recommend a TM gun as they have one of if not the best build quality but you'll struggle to get one with a mid budget. I went for and ICS G33 for my first weapon and still going strong after 4 years (with a few upgrades), 1 because everyone and there mum run's M4's an AK's, 2 there a great mid range gun straight out of the box. Just remember at the end of the day it will be your weapon and you'll want to feel comfortable with it in games.

If you can get a Krytac for that price, I’d get that. ICS is another very solid choice. Can’t say enough about ICS m4’s.

If if you could save up and buy a TM recoil (2nd hand perhaps) you’ll never need another.

I heard from a few shops that a few of nuprol’s are not reliable compared to other manufacturers and they won’t be restocking them once they’re sold out.

They look good but what’s the point if performance is not solid.

Id recommend ICS or SRC for first time purchase. Their Gen3 gearbox are solid hitting 330-340 FPS

Good luck

TM, ICS etc as above but I'd add G&G and Specna Arms in at that budget.

I'm a novice but was surprised nobody mentioned G&G. They appear to be well thought of and have lots of M4s in that sort of price range.

Is there better stuff out there for the same money?

G&G M4's are about the best or rather the safest bet M4 gun to buy in the starter to mid range

A G&G Raider has recently been updated to include the new Raider 2.0...

Image result for G&G Raider 2.0 tan

Bit of an improvement - will create a lot of Raider 1.0 envy I think

Don't think much inside has changed - they put on deans with a small tamiya adapter

(a few guns are starting to do this)

Using the FFR A2, or Hog type polymer receiver with ambi mag release

Nice folding FFR/Hog or CM18 or FireHawk type sights

The bright White CM paint is gone (at last)

About time they upped their game - 99% sure it hasn't got a mosfet

(with G&G's reliability or lack of it in mosfets that is not a bad thing)

EDIT - MY BAD

THERE IS A NON ETU VERSION & A ETU VERSION

my old site shop has some in stock:

https://www.tacticalairsoftshop.co.uk/gg-armament-combat-machine-aeg-cm16-raider-20--aeg---black-2399-p.asp

Also defcon has both ETU & non ETU versions - but like first batches they selling quick:

https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/gg-combat-machine-cm16-raider-2-0/

&

https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/gg-combat-machine-aeg-cm16-raider-l-2-0e-etu/

Me personally I'd still think I'd play safe and go for the non-ETU version

They might have improved stuff but I'm still not 101% trustworthy on ETU's

Still for £12 extra it is a nice fancy gimmick to consider

though you might have to go with modest 11.1v batteries to reduce ETU pickyness

Think I like the CM18 still but this cheaper improved Raider 2.0 comes very very close second

Thankfully I have stopped buying guns - ran out of room/money/excuses

plus Mrs Duck will really have my balls for ear rings if I even think of getting "not another bloody gun"

Aye for a starter G&G Raider it just got a lot more sexier

Just losing that old piggin' fixed front sight is a bonus on its own

Good to see the option of ETU or no ETU too - finally doing some stuff right offering a choice

Damn it - now I want one, look away, log out and do not return for a week or so

G&G are great too, alongside ICS and SRC. All depends on the gun you buy and which season they were manufactured.

Newer guns these days are much more reliable than the older one...
