Hello,

I have been playing a lot of CQB recently (TheMall) and was thinking of getting a weapon for this specific purpose. I have been using my LonexM4 but it is a bit clumsy in confined spaces.

  • Budget is not a massive issue
  • Something light
  • For CQB only
  • Short

So far I have narrowed it down to the following AEG's

At the moment i am leaning towards the MP7 or the P90, a lot of people seem to have a MP5. Was wondering what peoples thoughts were? If I got a MP7 I would probably get a blank firing grenade as well as it is a lot cheaper than the others.

Thanks

Daniel

I'd start looking outside Wolf for starters (if you haven't already). Look at the stuff Land Warrior, Airsoft Zone and Pro Airsoft Supplies have in.

The MP5 and P90 you've picked out are, it must be said, seriously dated guns. Well over a decade old designs, maybe pushing towards 20 years in some cases. If you want short, light and ideal for CQB start looking at the ASG Scorpion EVO. The old style basic TM AEGs are still decent and skirmishable for sure, but in terms of external resilience and internal quality and technology the Scorpion is miiiiiles ahead.

If you are in the Reading area and can travel down to Portsmouth, then I would highly recommend going to the Combat South shop, http://www.combatsouth.co.uk They specialise in TM and ICS guns. There is an extensive choice (drop them an email or phone them to see what is in stock) and more than is posted on their website. You can get hands on and try many different models, and test fire on their small indoor range.

I am also looking to get a small CQB back-up gun in the New Year, either MP5 or G3/HK53 model as I am old school and prefer the looks over newer guns.

Pro Airsoft Supplies (for example) will change the spring to give a sub-350 muzzle energy at the point of sale if the gun is shooting hot; not a problem.

Any other decent retailer should do just the same, I only mention PAS as they've done just that for me with a recent purchase so I can confirm it for a fact. Even if they didn't, changing the Scorpion spring is insanely easy, literally no experience or special skills required.

g&g firehawk? Stubby, Cheap, reliable and fun :)

But also as realistic as a paintball marker. :P

Don't get me wrong, I respect that there is a million and one ways to play airsoft, speedsoft being one of them, but there are more than few airsofters who moved away from THE OTHER force-on-force sport to airsoft lured by the so called "realism".

My point is - all those UIFs (Unrealistic Imitation Firearms - usually in the shape of barrels the size of cat's genitals attached to AR15 receivers) are not to everyone's taste.

Eh, I am just a grumpy old git, I should just shut up :P

Might be well off the ball here but what about the L85 AFV

http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?products_id=6878

It's never going to be a high cycle gun because of the blowback, but it will clack rather nicely. It's mostly metal including the body unlike most bullpups. And it has a far better inner barrel length than most of the CQB guns.

It also uses M4 mags. And comes with a red dot sight that is shaped like a SUSAT.

The big problem with them is to change the battery you need to unscrew someparts and it only has a small battery compartment. But you could just use a battery enclosure on the side.

G36c TM or ICS if you like

folding stock, large mag, non-M4, ambi selector

mp5 or mp5k but not a fan of the little stick mags

(my aim is crap so need all the bb's I can get in a mag)

just my thoughts - by now you got loads of options so go with whatever floats ya boat the most

it's a bit unfair to blame the gun for being clumsy.

My thoughts exactly. I use a SCAR at the malls and it's fine. I've also used a full length m4, an m249 para and an m14 ebr...
