Just BB guns - Skirmish site < (lol!)

I just found out that JustBBGuns have decided to open nation wide skirmish sites in various halls. Etc. We all know they do utter sh__ guns. This presents an opportunity (though unfair)...

Let me post a quote: "BB Skirmish (part of Just BB Guns) offers a totally new and compelling way of Airsoft Skirmishing for all ages. Specialising in 2 Tone BB Guns and not UKARA (Black Airsoft Guns) like most other Airsoft Skirmish sites..."

In some ways this presents an advantage. Elsewhere, on the site, it recommends the minimum age to be 10. There, my friends, is an advantage. The site has a 320fps limit. It is only for two tones. It also says on the site (somewhere) that you do not need an electric gun.

Haven't spotted the obvious flaw? No?

Lemme explain. There are going to be a lot of parents will read the rather friendly description on the site, buy a cheap-o springer (from JustBBGuns) and let their kid take part. We, are more prepared. We are older, more experienced. We have experience. We have the knowledge. They are a new generation of airsofters, no knowledge, no skill, no tactics. They may play COD, (Surprisingly, their parents let them. Hell, I've seen 8 year olds on COD!). This is both an oppertunity, and a great flaw.

Flaw:

JustBBGuns may have just ruined the future of airsoft. They have basically inducted a whole range of inexperienced players. They need to learn, fast, from us. They must know COD is not real. They must know that gaming tactics do not work in the field. They must know, springers are not the way to go. JustBBGuns will potentially gain a lot of business. More springers will be ordered and bought.

After all that, the advantage:

There will be a flood of players who only have and only use springers. We can literally dominate the field. Sure, they are having games in age ranges. There will also be games where ALL players will be on the field. Easy targets. Bad shots, bad tactics.

Answer me this.

Has JustBBGuns ruined the potential of airsoft, or have they improved it?

Wow. That took me a while. Anyway guys, I'm sure some will agree with me that this may cause discomfort among airsofters. Of course, we could just never attend a site like that. But think, it is still winter. They offer indoor sites, with an easy advantage for us. What should we do? Spend the winter ordering parts and upgrading? Or should we take our guns out of hibernation, and teach them a lesson?

(Looking back, I just realised how much like a campaign this sounds!)

Whilst I can see where both of you are coming from - I kind of think JBBG have a good idea. To me, their heart seems to be in the right place.

I am not sponsored by, nor do I work for Just BB Guns. I have made one purchase from them in person, last year, and whilst I expected my purchase (a £15 walther P99 AEP) to be a piece of junk, it actually out performed a mate's £90 GBB P99.

Anyway, I think it is a good idea, although it could probably have been better planned - here's why.

Why I first picked up a springer rifle a good few years ago, I won't lie, I liked the idea of shooting at my mates - as I knew it couldn't hurt them (much). A mate picked up a springer, and we had the same idea. But, we had no-where to play. Neither of our back gardens were big enough. We couldn't go to the park. Good lord no, obviously two 10 year olds playing with rifle-shaped objects in a park are 2 10 year olds with fully automatic assault rifles, intent on killing everyone

We longed for somewhere we (and eventually 3 other) mates could go with our springers and 'plink' at each other, with face protection, without the threat of the local rozzer firearms team coming in and arresting us.

And that's just what JBBGs are trying to do - give the group of mates with springers somewhere to plink.

Like i said, I can see where you are coming from with your concerns for airsoft, but like I said, I believe that JBBG's heart was in the right place when they came up with this idea.

These sites would never attract the players wishing to use anything in excess of that FPS and might be put off if it's just kids running about. Everyone will have to move up to the normal sites at some point and they'll soon learn.

If there's the gap in the market for them they may as well take it.

wont nearly all guns need a downgrade to play at this site? also, wont it be boring playing against people who havnt played before and have springers?

i think all they should do is open a site and then have certain days where only beginners are allowed, that way they could turn a decent profit.

If you think about it.... it might even improve the big boy sites.... cose all the inexperieced players will be playing with there own kind at a differnt site....

Very cleaver if u think about it

i agree it can only improve "real" sites, when i last played, towards the end of the day was ruined by moody marshals who understandably were getting feed up of the "lip" given by the mass of 14-16 year olds that seemed to of decended on to the site that day.

or just have special days at the normal sites where all the guys with springers and the "noobs" go. That way you get the best of both worlds on one site + a larger profit and the newer players and experianced guys are doing there own thing; and when the inexperianced lot want to join in with the rest of us they can at a site they already play at. I think this would work better because a site just for springers seems like a bit of a waste of a site (its hard to find somewhere to open a site).

Ok, I can see their idea, and fair enough. It is a way of legitimising the springer 2 tones and saying "look we have this sport, please don't ban these guns" Could be easily set up in a sports hall/lasertag arena with surrounding netting and blow up barriers, ala paintball.

However the fps limit of 320 is a tad high for under 10's. I have had decent AEG's putting out 315 full auto to a good range, which would kind of ruin it. Also for the 320 fps and under 10's I can see liabilty/insurance issues when little jimmy takes his mask off and gets a bb in the eye, and it will happen somewhere.

Will be interesting to see if it takes off

I don't know why it double posted? I started when I was 10 (nearly 4 years ago) just after xmas and pain wasn't really an issue for me, howevever like you said under 10s may have a problem. When I satrted it was mostly adualts playing and barely any kids my age which I acctualy prefered because you always get a few idiots who ruin it for eveyone else.

Sometimes its good to have a BB limit if your playing at a milsim and your forced to conserve ammo which is much more realistic and makes you think before you fire, but for a normal day a BB limit is plain stupid!

I don't see how this would work, but! it gives young people with little money a chance to play airsoft which is great and it means they wont be spraying there 2 tones left right and centre which benefits all of us!

I completely agree. However this could benifit all of us. Think of the possibilities of us all turning up with our guns... Enough said. :P
