Practical pistol... What's the crac?

Just about any GBB pistol is practical, so long as it holds enough gas to empty a mag. I use a WE F228 and its been very reliable for me. I broke a mag once or twice dropping it.

Plastic slide pistols like TM ones will work on colder weather; my 228 wouldn't cycle when there was snow on the ground but my G5 didn't break it's stride in the cold.

Pistols for me are just for very close range (ie fighting inside buildings) or as a last-resort sidearm. My 228 doesn't have great accuracy past about 15m but I only tend to use it within that range

As for practice, I use other people at a skirmish as target practice. They're mostly realistic targets and I get a unique challenge every time so it doesn't get repetitive.

Seriously though, pistols are surprisingly easy to handle under stress, precision shooting at range is hard but in close quarters its quite natural aiming and taking snap shots after just a little bit of practice

So that explains the specialisation of the pistols by Mike Cripps. On his Elite Shooting Centre website I have seen that they are hand-built upgraded TM Hi Capa 5.1 with examples ranging from £200-550. Probably not necessary for general airsoft skirmishes (budget depending) but the basic £200 ones looks do look reliable quality pieces, and have got me thinking about getting one over a standard version if I do want a Hi Capa in the future.

www.ukpsa.co.uk has Action Air rules and info. May be of interest / some use but I have only glanced at the site from a google search.

I'll tell you how good his pistols are today when the 2 that are coming arrive, different sites now do they're own types of pistol target shooting, I know Justin at the gaol has started doing timed runs and stuff with pistols

£500 isn't a lot for a race pistol...

Mine's worth about £1000, between about 5 of us at HALO we have maybe £7-8K worth of pistols.

You don't have to spend that though, some of the other guys do fine with the £200 ones from mike

Distances you engage at are typically 0-7m
and you'd be surprised how much you can miss by even with your barrel jammed through a target

I shoot it (pretty well, If I say so myself)

I (and everyone else who competes to any level) use a modified TM Hi-capa

Where are you based? There are a few clubs around, not usually attached to anything else airsoft related

Just checked on the actionair forum and someone asked this question back in January.

There is still no reply, so I think you might be out of luck for a local club :(

Have a look at any local real steel clubs or if you're the south end of durham, HALO MILL may well be the closest club down here in Huddersfield

I can now safely say that elite custom pistols are the dogs danglies, the range and accuracy on both I received is frankly beyond impressive, yes, they are costly but you get what you pay for and the finish over 'run of the mill' stuff is quite staggering, bearing in mind that both of mine are for skirmish use it was probably a bit frivolous but who cares?

Some sort of 3-gun or other practical shooting is ideally what I'd like to do quite often if I could, personally I love the idea. Need to look in to some sort of map of places in the UK that actually offer it. The impression I get is that conventional airsoft skirmishing it a lot more popular, but I've not really dug in to the topic.

I know redwolf are advertising a supposedly 'big' airsoft pistol shooting competition this year but it's not cheap to enter and gets spread out over 3 days; doesn't seem to entail a lot of actual time spent shooting either. Lot of money for not a lot of action once you factor in 3-4 nights in a hotel and food. Something like that over 1 day (maybe 2 max) I'd quite probably check out.

yup, I'll be shooting the Euros (redwolf comp) this year, £50 entry fee £113 travelodge £40 getting there.(anyone else shooting it? I'll be in the HALOMILL colours with my name all over the back)
Chance to win the title? Totally worth it. (I don't think I'll win euro-champion, but I'm hoping for top 10-15 in standard)

As for practical shooting in general, there are plenty of ranges (and more and more of them) offering Practical shotgun and mini-rifle (practical rifle with .22lr semi autos as we can't have centrefire semi-autos :( )

To be honest I can't stand the desert eagle both the real and the airsoft ones, they are for too big and cumbersome for a side arm, and I've got big hands and it's too big! the whole idea of a secondary is it should be easy to handle and practical, they aren't the real .50 AE is terrible to shoot, too heavy too big with a kick to it making target re accusion a bit of a pain plus it only has 7 rounds.

It's a video game gun, nothing more.
