I'm not 18... I'll just get gifted the gun. But what colour would the gun come in?

Black and either bright orange, blue or green. I.E two tone. my first gun was blue and black. you can't buy your own all black (non two tone, real imitation firearm) gun, until you're 18 and have your own ukara number, as already mentioned.

What is a skirmish? I've googled it but doesn't come up...is it a mission or a place? All it says is airsoft Mansfield?

If you're from Manchester just Google airsoft sites Manchester and I'm sure a few will come up.

I think there are quite a lot of sites around Manchester so you're in luck

First & Only Airsoft run a couple (called 'Manchester Woodland' and 'The Sandpit')

There is Skirmish Mansfield or whatever it's called as well which I know a few people on here go to

Skirmish is another word in airsoft terms for an for an airsoft battle / game day / war etc but also the name of the Mansfield site so I can see why that might have been confusing

What is the best mask/head gear to get? (Budget...)

I usually get my equipment from ebay I would browse airsoft websites first to see what sort of things you like then search for them. If youre under 18 then you need a full face mask the fencing masks you can get are good value and they cover your whole head really. That is the most important in my opinion then as the others say wait to see if you like it then invest in an assault vest, clothing etc...

Good luck bud

Basically and I am by no means expert only been playing a few years myself. There are two types of full face protection you can buy there are always risks and advantages and disadvantages no matter which option you decide choose:

Mesh Masks: These are masks that have tiny holes for you to see out of, but small enough so that BB's cannot enter an example of this would be a fencing mask http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=287_438&products_id=7272 or you prefer a mesh mask http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=287_438&products_id=2439 these are very common for starting airsofters as they are cheap and effective

Glasses Masks: As you are under 18 youll need a full face glasses mask which fog up like crazy no matter how much anti fog you apply to them. There are easier to see out of though (debatable) however fog tends to ruin my day heres an example for you http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paintball-Proto-Goggles-Switch-EL-Black-Paintball-Mask-UK-SELLER-CC1-/271177017874?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f2368ea12

Please note these are just examples you will have to do research on which masks have protection for your eyes, no sport is worth loosing your eyesight so be sure you are buying a worthwhile official product. Dont let this scare you though ive been using mesh masks for years. Just do your homework if its glass ensure they can withstand the penetration of a bullet

Find your nearest brick and mortar retail airsoft store and ask them, it is only the RIF/IF that they cannot sell to you, you can still buy everything else - also note that assembling/creating a RIF/IF without a defence is effectively the same as being sold one (and not allowed).

However I would recommend you find out the difference between them here:

Hint: Look up the effect of different voltages in airsoft guns
