I saw a couple older threads for this, but they're from '10/'11 and I didn't want to necropost.

What other hobbies do you guys have? Anything that can merge with Airsoft?

For me, my main other hobby is parkour, and it merges well with Airsoft when I'm doing the whole assassin thing with a pistol. It's kind of a shame that there isn't any construction site skirmish sites, because parkour can potentially have a high tactical advantage against usual maneuvers (Great for ambushes from above, even moreso with a partner and attacking from multiple angles).

I like to frequent the gym myself. It has a slight merge or use for airsoft as being a bit stronger means being able to carry heavier weapons without fatiguing quickly. The disadvantage is being a larger target it's harder to hide and you get lit up pretty bad (which I actually find fun lol)

I cycle. This is my baby:

IMAG0044.jpgIt's a 1967 Royal Enfield Revelation. They are rare and unusual small wheeled bikes. I bought mine for £50-ish off ebay and it was a state. I had it repainted and rebuilt it with modern hub gears and hub brakes, skinny wheels and mudguards made out of laminated balsa and oak veneer. I then rode it from John 'O' Groats back to Bristol. I have 2 other bikes. There is however one more I would love to add to the collection...

As some of you may have realised, I am more into WW2 airsoft. WW2 airsoft involves slightly more travel to get to games and I don't have a car anymore. I therefore need a bike that can carry a rifle and all my airsoft gear, plus camping gear. If it could then be used in the games as well and fit the period that would be awesome.

The BSA Parabike. It's a folding full sized bicycle, designed to be dropped by parachute or strapped to vehicles and you can add various kit carrying accessories, such as a rifle rack, frame bag for carrying your kit and a front rack designed to carry ammo crates to the front lines. I sooo want one :)

Angling and Mountain biking.

At the minute the Mountain Biking is on hold due to my bike dieing on me.

I used do a bit of match fishing but I've diversified to fishing with plastics for perch on small rivers and general pike fishing and a bit of fly fishing on small rivers :)

I've competed in Muaythai for 12 yrs and made the transition to MMA 4 yrs ago. I'm the head thai coach for Elements MMA under the Duane Ludwig's Bang Muaythai system. Aswell as my Muaythai background, I train 10th planet jui jitsu and roman Greco wrestling. I'm English champion, I've got a British title shot on sept 6th.

I'm an welding engineer by trade and both of my kids do gymnastics and train on my classes. Fitting in airsoft is tough but I get the odd weekend to go skirmishing..... Drakelow tunnels this Sunday!

Really? You'd never know....

Personally, I used to mountain bike a LOT but my personal geometry has become pretty downhill specific these days so it's video games (console and PC), airbrushing (yes - on guns as well as other stuff) and the usual pottering about. Work is pretty stressful so I like to unwind in front of mindless entertainment of an evening.

Photography, though I'd not risk my lenses at a site unless I could get some one to make up for me a couple of 2mm lexan filters to put in a cokin frame.

Also very much in to gastronomy, primarily eating, cooking and food history.

Cycling and cross country mountain biking.

I keep road biking to Ukraine. The roads in some villages near the Karpathian mountains are not at all bad. Bike is my dad's old Custom rig, made with a mix of French,Italian German parts and a custom welded frame. Say what you want about the soviet union but the steel quality is amazing and the welding is pure porn. It survived several cross country trips around europe and sure to survive under me for a while. I plan to eventually ship my MTB to Ukraine and the road bike to Ireland but I'll keep this routine for now.

For MTB I have a bog standard Cube Aim 29er, also my main mode of transport if I slap on some carry bags. Nice Taiwanese alu frame and SR suntour shocks that although do not travel near as much as advertised are fairly durable stuff. What I love about it is the shimo gear set and mineral oil brakes, stops on a dime this thing. Once i get into a high gear and down a slight hill I can get into some fairly good speeds especially for a bulky chunker of a bike like the Aim.

I'll admit I'm a bit of an irresponsible arse because I wear protective gear under clothes everywhere but my head. Will try force myself to get a good one since there have been too many inattentive pricks nearly hitting me.

Gym, MMA, video gaming and being outdoorsy (hiking/camping/trekking). Used to mountain bike a little but I gave that up when I split up with my ex - she kept the mountain bikes, I had the car and snakes.

Think I came off better haha

I do a lot of stuff with the Army Cadets, I'm involved a little with recruit guidance and passing knowledge on as I've been in about 2.5 years- which is a long time when people are always coming and going.

I also dabble a little in video gaming, nothing major like a £1000+ gaming PC though.

Aside from that I haven't found much time outside of school for stuff. I'll probably pick a hobby up and have a go over the summer, however all my funds go towards gear and parts for my guns.

  • 2 months later...

Apart from being a comic book nerd and star wars fan my other hobby is collecting trainers, and no its not a transferable skill to Airsoft lol... If im paying that much for trainers I am not about to mash them up skirmishing!!

However I enjoy kayaking and rock climbing too, so these could be useful.....

Always messed computers/modded most consoles I guess so have a kind of grasp of how

stuff kind of works - but gotta quit smoking I guess n get a little fitter n healthier I suppose

I used to play a lot of Golf before Airsoft and I used to spend a week in France every year touring various golf courses which included Omaha beach. Golf took a back seat when I discovered Airsoft!

These days though work takes up much of my time and I love spending time with my two boys who are 1 YO and 3 YO respectively and my teenage daughter too, but I can only walk around a shopping mall for a short while! Once the boys are old enough I hope to get them into Airsoft.

well I officially love DH cycling. Trying to get a cheapy kona stinky, about £500 but then there is the gear and on top of that you have to do the repairs, forks and rear suspension being the key thing, it's expensive like airsoft but you get a lot more injuries, however it is just as fun as airsoft. Looking to build a trail in my woods, there are a few old jumps and a huge 10 foot jump someone put in, which is ridiculous (haven't done it on my hardtail yet, bit worried about the tyres and the rear hanger :( )

  • 2 weeks later...

These dont tie into airsoft but I love model railway building and Second/first world war modelling on a tiny board I have in my room. Love playing the piano and cricket. But I think I spend a bit too much time at the weekends on my ps3 with friends...I love running and cycling!

Wish I had a bike like the one Russell has or the para one! :P

Cycling - Mostly mountain and a tiny bit of road. I used to race when I was younger but once I reached the point where I would need to seriously train for it to get anywhere I decided it was a hobby and not a career :D (that backfired as I know work in Halfords in bikehut <_< ).

Also like modelling in general - especially painting the models although one day I will build a model railway when I have my own place;

and PC gaming and messing about with my PC. I guess reading counts as a hobby as well

Oh and eating!!
