Battery contacts?

Rub them with very fine abrasive paper 'emery' or 'wet and dry' about 1000 grit.

Or, use a 'fibreglass pen' they are designed for polishing metal surfaces before soldering. Gt them from a model shop. They are used by modellers working in etched brass or brass castings.

If you mean the switch contacts Maplin have switch cleaner.

You can get a sheet of 1000/1200 grit wet and dry or emery cloth from your local car parts shop for pennies.

Emery cloth is the same stuff as wet and dry but on a fabric backing, it is for polishing metal whereas wet and dry id for rubbing down paint and has paper backing.

For what you need get the wet and dry it's a lot cheaper and you will have enough to polish contacts for the rest of your life.
