Do you feel like this in the morning?

Bread.

It's like the most basic breakfast you could have. But, do you get bored of it having the same old again and again?

Like for example, porridge lovers, I know that you know that I know that you know that you love porridge. (looking back to see if it makes sense eh?)

I do too, but you know that it gets boring after a while. Everyday. 6 AM. 3 min in the microwave. Ding. Hot porridge. Hmmmmmm......

So i used eat bread with butter and ham everyday and it has become a norm for me; an automatic checklist for the morning. And it gets unbelievably repulsive. When i go downstairs, I see bread on the table...... and i think, "oh god, this same old again, cannae be arsed."

So then 99% of time now, I move away and try to look for something else to eat. Sometimes i do, and sometimes i don't.

Usually, I see a 415g can of heinz baked beans in the cupboard, and if i see that, I grab it, tear the lid off, grab a spoon and dig in.

And no, I don't heat up baked beans and if you think i'm some sort of a weird psychopath for doing that, so back to room and ride on that tricycle you silly buoy.

I only heat up baked beans when I'm eating it with a meal, like with sausages. But on it's own? No. And a 415g can is my entire breakfast but that means that i'd risk having to hold in my fart for the whole day..... until I go outside when it's windy and nobody can hear me fart because the wind takes away the sound and smell. Yeah.

If there are no beans, I look to make toast but then again...... eating toast all the time isn't at all healthy, that's why I eat microwave chips instead with some mustard. And occasionally, i'd find some left over bacon rashers. I fry them and eat them.

If all the above are not there, I look for a sugary meal, like jelly. I'm only kidding, i don't fill myself with only sugar in the morning, of course not you silly children; I accompany it with half a tub of nutella with some rich tea biscuits from Mcvities, NOT the Tesco crap, NOT the Sainbury's crap and most certainly NOT the Waitrose crap, BUT the Mcvities brand.

If none of those are there, I look for cereal. And no, cereal isn't my first option because most of the time, my family don't even close the box or the packet. They are too lazy to even get a clip and put it on. They leave it open and who the fudge knows what kind of shyte has flew into it. Flicked bogies.

If there is no cereal, I crack on a liquid supper. I usually look into the fridge and search for some instant soup by heinz; it's the kin of puree that when you pour boiling water onto it, it melts it and makes lovely soup although i do sometimes accompany this with other food. But then again, I have to wait for the fudging water to boil up. And dat iz kno phun.

If none of those things are available, I crack on some noodles. But this is most lengthy process in the morning. Most of the food describe above only take maximum of 5 mins to make and eat. But with noodles, I have to boil the water in a saucepan, wait for it to boil (or I can cheat by filling it with hot water from the tap instead to decrease the overall cooking time, *HINT*) which takes about 2-3 min, then put the meat in first; you really think i'd eat noodles by itself?! Silly boy, go watch some cheap, low budget porno films and you'll understand. Then it usually takes the meat 3 - 5 min to cook. Then the noodles go in. Another 3 min. Then the veggies go in; "WHAT?!?!?! YOU EAT VEGGIES????"

Why yes, of course I do. Meat by itself doesn't balance out the meal for me. Then 1 more minute and then to empty the contents into a bowl. I get the fork; "WHAT????? Y U NO USE CHOPSTICKS?!"

Well, i'm too lazy in the morning. And besides, a fork is easier to use. Then 2 minutes to eat the food. And then a few secs to clean the dish. Not my type of job.

And also, I eat noodles that are from good chinese companies, not the ABSOLUTELY SHIDDY POT NOODLES. Pot Noodles and Sharwoods are the WORST chinese food companies that have ever existed. And don't even try to start with, "Oi! How would you fudging know you filthy casual?!"

Well, my answer is, I'm asain. Nuff said.

Well...... this is my breakfast routine everyday...... fun times.

I really havn't had breakfast in 4 years.

Working in a bakery for a few years put me off bread for a while.

Cinnamon Bagels may have finally made it into my breakfast regime though.

I also make a mean Ramen or Stir Fry

I haven't bothered with breakfast for the last 4 years either. Imagine all the money I've saved.

I do try to have breakfast. Admittedly, it's usually a choccie croisant and a can of red bull from tescos on the way to work, but the effort counts, no?

I tend to find that Dave with breakfast in him tends to get hungry around 11.30ish and needs a bigger lunch, whereas breakfast free Dave can keep going until Dinner at around 7pm, no questions asked, not missing a beat.

Obviously, that's quite unhealthy and is the main reason I try to eat brekkie.

Seriously, put the veg in first, take it out when nearly done, then you'd have a nicer base for the noodles. The meat should only need a 'flash boil' at the very end otherwise it might start getting tough (parboiled meat).

On the other hand, in the 5 minutes before getting out the door, a pot noodle is more realistic.

POT NOODLES ARE HORRIBLE.

And.... I like my meat fully cooked and yes, it is still soft afterwards. I don't like to take a risk.

Plus... if veggies go in first.... it would get cold and yes, i know, pour the water in to make it warm again but i don't like that. It's easier to put it in near the end of the cooking time.

Whaaa? Slice the meat thinly, each piece being not more than 13mm x 25mm x 3mm. 3mm slices across the grain. It will cook just fine, even if dumped in boiling (ebullient, not slightly moving) soup and taken off after about 45 sec, worked in to the centre. Works better with fresh meat, not something sat in the fridge over 4 days (I'd probably parboil that). You have to dump the veg back into the soup at the very end as it will have cooled down, but then you have perfect combination of veg, just-cooked meat which hasn't gone tough, noodles.

You must be using lettuce or something for that result with veg at the end, don't think it would work with choi sum.

(Not Pot Noodles, I mean Nissin Cup Noodles or Kung Fu Noodles)

I rarely have breakfast either, and when I do have it it's usually because I know I'll need the energy for airsoft and it often comes in the form of McDonalds or Subway.

When I'm off I don't usually eat anything until about 4pm, which tends to just be a peanut butter sandwich or something, and then I have a proper cooked meal at around half 8 - 10, then go to bed around 1am.

Get up at 7, earlier for airsoft, rinse and repeat.

My diet is a bit fuller- cereal for brekkie, sandwich + crisps and coke for lunch and a proper meal at around 6.30-7.00, plus all the snacks, doughnuts etc you can throw in between meals. And i've maintained the same weight for the last 3 years!

Well, i eat pak choi, so it needs to be cooked properly, it's not like lettuce where you can half cook it. And yes, putting pak choi near the end of cooking fully cooks it afterwards. :D

Then a drizzle of sesame oil and ITZ NOODLE TIMEZ.

Oh and that's not my full breakfast, i usually follow that with some toast or canned sardines. My metabolism is very high, so... i usually eat 3000 - 4000 calories a day. Sometimes 5000 if i feel like being a fat bastard. I'm still thin.... but surprisingly i'm stronger than most people in my school and they have much bigger arms than me.

Most restaurants get away with half sauteed baby pak choi (the one that is no taller than 8cm), slathered in clear ginger sauce. Not too bad, actually! But not really a breakfast thing.

I am too stingy to splurge on pak choi these days, and just use siew choi, so I need the extra time for the stems.

If not going out later, spring onions cut into tiny 2mm rounds soaked in soy sauce, then crackled over with boiling hot sunflower oil to take burst the flavour out of the spring onions and take away the raw edge. This is a dipping sauce for the noodles which are not always left in the soup.

If feeling fancy, and if there is time, frozen won tons (for soup) instead of meat. Makes a pleasant change.

I've off topicked away from breakfast and into oriental one-pot cooking...
