Need help on sniper rifle, desperate!

Hey guys, just got my shiny new Tokyo Mauri L96 Olive from Wolf Armories. The whole look and feel of the gun is great. However, there is a major draw back. The fps is only around 280. I am hoping to get it up to 500 fps to shoot accurately at max distance of 100 meters.

In the shop my friend told me it would cost all together around £700 (including gun, £275) to upgrade it (excluding engineering price). On the tube back I thought well for that price, I might as well buy a sniper that costs around £500, is as sturdy and long lasting as TM brand guns, and performs with accurate shooting at 100 meters with 500 fps (out the box, or at least have cheap good quality up-gradable parts in the market). A major drawback on TM L96 is that there are limited number of upgradable parts out there, so that's why it's so expensive to upgrade (and for goodness sake, what kind of 'genius' would decide to make a springer sniper 280 fps in TM in the first place??? <_< )

Is any one selling like new snipers that fits this description, or can you give me any EU.UK/US weblinks so I can buy it? will return my gun to the shop.

Thanks very much.

A £500 sniper will still need upgrading.

Good luck returning it to Wolf. :L

Contact ASPUK, they are the people to talk to about sniper upgrades. I'm pretty sure they have TM L96 parts.

Pretty much every sniper rifle will need upgrading no matter the base rifle cosr- he means around £500 in upgrades specifically.

Look at aspuk, as said by tariq, they do some decent low cost upgrades that'll get you started (though I'm not sure they do stuff for the tm l96)

PDI ans Lay lax are the best options to look into but you will pay for it.

You'll also be doing fairly well to find a sniper that is consistently accurate to 100m as well

TM are very well known for accuracy and not needing massive fps to get it, most of their AEG's don't come out much more than 280ish out of the box and out range most others with more fps

You'll be lucky enough to get it shooting 80 meters.Maruis generally have a max range of 50 meters.I think long range in the UK is 70 meters.

Being a sniper in airsoft,in my view,is not about out-ranging everything.It's the play style,mainly a stealth/scout role.

FPS =/= range. In fact,Marui VSRs and L96s do not work well at high FPS,losing accuracy over distance.Range is really determined by your hop unit, which is already great with your gun.

You do not need a 500FPS uber machine to snipe well. It's all about tactics and play style.

Now,last time I checked,I have never seen a sniper that cost £500 and shoots accurately at 100 meters. In fact,I do not know of any airsoft gun that shoots at 100 meters.Except a ridiculously upgraded Socom gear Barret firing at 600 FPS that cost $2000 on a forum once.

That 280 FPS limit was determined by Japanese law.

Besides, would you rather hit what you're aiming at at 280 FPS or miss at 500?

Upgradeable parts are abundant.Check out ASPUK or Ehobby asia,in the Marui VSR/L96 upgrade section.Laylax and PDI make great upgrades.

I don't know where you got the idea that parts are uncommon for VSRs/L96s.

If you plan on upgrading the shit out of it,you bought one of the best upgrade platforms available.

Here are some upgrades I would recommend, but since I live in a country with different laws,I might get some things wrong.

Laylax PSSL96 High pressure piston-Better air seal, minor increase in FPS.

Laylax PSS 110/120/130 Spring-Heavy FPS increase.I recommend the 110 or the 120.130 is the absolute max for good performance.

Laylax PSSl96 cylinder head.-Again,better air seal, minor FPS increase.

Laylax PSSL96 Zero trigger-More reliable trigger system that extends the long activity of your weapon if you have upgraded parts.

PDI 6.04mm barrel. It has the best compromise between accuracy and power for barrels.

If anyone has spotted any cock ups or misinformation, feel free to correct me and add info-I'm tired too lazy to do MOAR research on this stuff.

Again,I want to add that having a 500 FPS sniper rifle and wanting to fire 100m accurately is a load of bollocks. It's all about play style. Not outranging

everything.

Most of what you said is correct. Except the bit about VSR's not working well at high fps' that is, they work brilliantly once upgraded at high power. I can only imagine the same for the l96. Every gun will lose accuracy over distance too.

And, the anti long range shooting stuff, not sure about anyone else but to me at least, one of the main characteristics of a sniper rifle is the range they have. Of course that's not to snub tactics etc and as anyone who has sniped would know, using just superior range sitting at the back is exceedingly boring.

they just don't have the anticipated range over a standard rifle:

Real steel:

M4 - 500m? (pushing it)

L96 - 1500+m (happy to engage)

effective range over trippled

Airsoft

M4 - 50m (at £150) 60m (at £2000)

L96 - 50m (at £150) 80m (at £700)

effective range 1/3 better

So you can see, the range is +20 or so meters, but you loose those 20M of engageable distance (the area you can shoot people in) by the minimum engagement.

The other thing isn't neccessarily that 'ALL good sniper rifles cost £700' but much closer to 'ALL good sniper rifles need £500 adding to the price of the rifle out of the box'

There is a special Bipod for the L96 made by marui...But it's expensive.

http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Tokyo-Marui-L96-Tactical-Bipod-airsoft-p/45900.htm

There's also a G&P one that can fit the L96 lug.

http://www.airsofteire.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=839&category_id=37&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26

You don't really need 500 FPS,400-ish with an m130 or an m140 spring will be fine.To shoot 400-500 FPS safely, you need the zero trigger, new piston and spring guide, all of which I linked.
