The side mounting does look good but as some of you know some scopes dont fit all AK's. you have to move your mount on the receiver. I considering a Kobra, but stock are low Then someone showed the the Obzor 1P63 Tactical (mental) but real steel $$$$ The PKA looks pretty good. Purchased on 10 years ago. I've looked around for an AK optic too and come to the conclusion that for the price I can find a decent replica for, I might well be better off trying to find a surplus real steel one going cheap on fleabay or somewhere. The PKA would be my preference out of the two above. Personally, I've gone for the dovetail mount with a ris-rail on top, it's the easiest way to keep prices down plus it means I can have whatever I want on there! Works OK on an AK, but a bit too far offset to the right for an SVD.
