CM028 range are great airsoft starter guns. Good range, though may need a spring downgrade as they are 400+fps but have brilliant reliability. Perfectly skirmishable at woodland or indoor sites.

Yes it is plastic bodied with fake wood, but this is a budget gun. However there is nothing wrong with that in any way whatsoever. It will out perform many more expensive guns with a careful hop adjustment.

For £170'ish you can get the CM040+ range which are full metal and real wood.

The shortend versions you are talking about are either the AK74SU or the beta spetz. Beta spetz are brilliant guns for the money and a lot of sites use them as hire guns. I use one as my loan gun. AK74su are short AK's with folding stock, again great for the money.

DO NOT GET THE M109 thing IF YOU INTEND TO GO SKIRMISHING RATHER THAN PLINKING IN BACK GARDEN

Thanks for the reply, think I'll be getting the CYMA AK. Cam-the-airsoft-sniper also has one for sale here as well, and that looks like a pretty good deal, although I don't live in the Southampton area, so I may as well just try and get it local first.

Another question, will these magazines fit into the gun? I heard somewhere all CYMA Ak's take the same type of magazines, but again, I'm not 100% sure.

[EDIT] - I've looked around some more and found this: A tactical CYMA AK, from NOVATCOMBAT. This thing looks really, cool, I know it'as not a shortened version, which is what I originally wanted, but this looks very high quality. Also has a two-tone option, and magazines can also be bought from the same sight. Anyone know if the stock could be taken off also? Doesn't really matter that much, but it'd be cool if I could replace it somehow, or take it on/off for field/cqb type games.

[EDIT] #2 - Ok, I've got a list of things that I think I'll be ordering. If anyone has any suggestions what to add on/take off, please feel free to say.

(Also please note that I have got the basics of airsoft, such as eye protection, camo clothes, etc., as this is my second gun. But I'm still fairly new to the world of airsoft, so any help is very much appreciated)

I just thought I would add, I will post it and pay for it depending on the offer, but you go with what you want, and the tactial ak looks tasty!

That is a cyma 028 tactical. Plastic bodied, metal ris, good starter gun and will last you years of abuse. However I thinks its, which means the battery goes in the stock, so no removal there unless you re-route the wire to the top and get a stick battery.

I have a tacticool AK, but a metal version with folding stock and they are great fun, if a bit heavy (though not as heavy as the RPK I had!)

You may also need to get a better charger and battery than the ones provided as they are not the best chargers in the world, though the batteries arn't bad.

is the place to buy batteries and chargers

Golden ball BB's are quite good as well

Wouldn't bother with the RDS yet, play with the iron sights for a while first.

Grip and magazine I would look at getting from either ebay or here

http://www.socomtactical.net/

as they have decent prices, cheaper postage than airsowftworld and their bb's arn't bad either
