Unless your radio came pre-programmed on PMR446 channels (unlikely), I'd recommend when you get some spare time that that you re-programme your radios onto those licence free frequencies. Not that I am personally fussed about licences etc (and lets face it, the Baofengs don't comply with most of the other PMR446 rules) , but as the Baofengs have such a broad frequency range, there is a possibility that your signals could be interfering with other licenced frequencies that are used for somewhat safety critical operations (not the emergency services these days, but maybe e.g. hospital porters, warehouses, public transport, event security etc.). PMR 446 frequencies found in the bottom of this page if interested: https://www.radiotrader.co.uk/news/facts-about-licence-free-radios.htm#PMR446 Frequencies

    cheers will check this out

    2. We have been looking at radios and thinking for buying the baofengs, however if I recall accurately they required some sort of programming procedure that seemed complicated to us at the time.

    3. Also where is the best places to purchase MTP outfits. We would prefer the MTP type. Some advice for the clothing accessories would be greatly appreciated.

Unsure of 1, but re/ 2 friends and I all use the baofeng UV5R and the ear piece it comes with. No programming required just pick a channel and go. Also has a handy lock key so when youre sliding around you don't end up on someone elses channel.

For MTP outfits, literally any car boot will have loads going cheap, same for virtually any milsurp store.

Just had a quick look at G&G CM16's which is what we all got as our starting rifles and holy fuck theyve increased in price.

    Nice.

How much fettling was required to get the nose cap to fit?  Thinking of doing the same to mine.

I dont have a real bayonet, but I did purchase a rubber replica from vintage airsoft (along with a rubber commando Dagger for a seperate ww2 loadout) ,  so at least I can skirmish with it

Crap pics I know, I took them late last night...

How much did the bayonet set you back & dont suppose you know if theyre selling anymore? The shop section on their website gives me an error. Just got myself one of these as a rebuild for just over £350, shoots 335 on .28s so it looks like I'll be needing to learn the ways of shooting from afar and also learn how far 30m is for the minimum engagement distance. I've only got the one mag at the moment, can't really see myself needing more than 2?

Accuracy and range is mostly a compression/hop setup thing.

You need consistent "volume" output and a good hop up rubber/patch that gives consistent spin to the BB.

The first can be easily addressed, it's mostly a matter of lubrication and replacement of o-rings (except for the nozzle, you may want a new one and it's an easy swap), the second is where it gets interesting:

    You have four parts:

    • Hop unit;
    • Tensioner (or nub);
    • Hop rubber (or R-Hop patch);
    • Inner barrel

The only requirement I have for my hop units is to have a rigid hop arm (the main reason why I use Maxx units), it's more consistent and always applies the same amount of pressure.

The same applies to tensioners, nowadays concave tensioners are the way to go (either embedded into the hop arm or a separate piece like the Maple Leaf Omega) since they affect a larger area on the hop rubber than regular, tube shaped ones.

Hop rubbers come in all different shapes, materials and forms, it's mostly a matter of testing and finding out which one your gun likes the most, I've had good experiences with Maple Leaf Macarons. The same applies to hardness, most people like 60° rubbers, I had the best results with 70° ones.

Inner barrels don't need to be fancy, they need to be clean and straight. Given that your gun is a G&G Combat Machine I would still replace the stock one as it's horrible and made of pressed tinfoil, luckily for you ZCI makes some affordable 6.02mm steel barrels that are good quality too! Generally I found that wider barrels are more consistent, but ymmv

Thanks hugely, this is great info 😄

  5. So I'm looking to get a new M4 (me poor old Cm16 has seen many better days) but I have spent a few days scouring patrol base and zero one but there are just too many and I feel like drowning in specna arms. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? With the ideal criteria being solid accuracy and range (I've grown sad watching my bbs harmlessly drop after 20m for the other guy to turn around and spurt a laser beam into me), AEG,  and anything below £400.

Or alternatively, try and upgrade the CM16? I'm positively special when it comes to techy stuff (not in a good way) and have previously broken it while following instructions from patrol base over the phone lol. If I was to go down this route what would people recommend upgrading to help with that accuracy and range issue? RPM / trigger response time I really don't care about very much I just want to be able to have the bbs go a bit straighter & further lol

    Thanks

[In my defence re/ it being an M4, all the kit & mags I have are based around the m4 and FAL and cant afford to change that now lol]

There is an ANZAC v VC game in May.  You would fit right in mate!

There are a few who run as a separate ANZAC unit at some regular games too.  If you were the only Aussie there, I'm sure some role could be improvised, but best clear it with the organisers to be polite.

Join the UK Namsoft FB group and you'll get the events advertised well in advance.

Nope.  I have about three East German and two Rusfor kits and nowhere to go at the mo.  My last full weekend game will be next weekend and then I'm back to filmsim days up the road.  Although by the time I finished writing that sentence I'm bloody tempted...

    I will PM you

Sorry that's all you are getting. I am sure the event will be fine, its just one of the personalities behind the company I wouldn't touch with a barge pole

Admittedly new to the adult world but surely bad mouthing a company / person saying they're criminal but refusing to elaborate doesn't exactly help? Maybe its because I've got more skin in the game given the purchases, but if you wouldnt touch them with a barge pole surely its reason enough to say why...

    --- Edit ---

Had a look around online and found what it is I expect you were referring to about one of the directors and now I understand why you didn't want to put it on a public forum. Like I said still learning lol

Personally, given who runs Frontline and his criminal history, I would rather book on with Satan himself.  Gentleman has changed his name more times than I have changed  socks.

A little history pls, have booked a milsim weekend and just bought a fal from them oh dear....

Gunman Airsoft.  Frontline have a good rep too.

If you want to tag along, I expect that @RebelScum or I would be more than willing to buddy up with you for a first game.  I play VC, Rebelscum plays US.  Pick a side, sign up to the Facebook group appropriate, get help with kit, meet new airsofters, get pissed in the woods.  It's all good fun.

Sierra Bravo Airsoft do the same type of games.

Awesome thank you I for sure would love to tag along. Dyou know if anzac impressions are allowed at the games kr is it on US?

That would be the .30 Cal we had.  An amazing piece of kit put together by an incredibly talented engineer on our side.  Great for spraying the trees when we couldn't who was shooting at us.  There were a lot of dropouts unfortunately, but I have to say I had a great day, even with low numbers.  It helped that everyone got into the theme, which I think is half the battle for filmsim.

Who was it that organised this? Am booked in for frontline events games coming up but these guys sound amazing and I'd love to see what stuff they do as well

Christ I don't think j can afford anything else lol if jt breaks I think I will lose my mind

Thanks chaps. Put the sten kit up  at 275.00

The AEG IS 220 new  mags 15.00 each bag 50 and sling 20.00 & suppressor  £60.00 I guess its idown to if anyone wants the lot or not.  I'll put an ad on here too. They're  surprisingly good to shoot. Rof about right for a real STEN and accurate. 370fps too. I've also got a NOS pistol grip made for operation  Market Garden, designed literally on a fag packet days before and rapidly produced.  Turned sten into a great cqb weapon. So simple a design  too. The original STENS designed to be produced by the likes of Raleigh bikes as just bent steel tubes. The bolt and barrel the only high precision  parts. Plus they were designed to use the  MP40 mags so ammo could be taken off of the enemy.

The finish on mk1&2's was pot black. The paint used to paint motorbike  engines and cylinder heads at the time. Cheap and simple to produce was the spec and they certainly were. British ingenuity at its finest.

Thanks for your input all. :)

If anyone is interested please message me. I'll get an ad up.

Dont suppose you've settled on a price for the MP40 set?

  12. 1 hour ago, Paul H said:

I will be putting them both up for sale in the near future. Wall brackets included I kid you not.  Some idea of sale prices would be a great help.

    Paul

70% of the cheapest new was thrown around on another thread I think? So could do that for each thing and see what it comes up to.

Anyone been to Bristol Airsoft? mid-week games work best for me and now my super-local Z-mart aren't doing them anymore I need to find somewhere new to get my fix.

Bristol Airsoft seem to run games all through the week which would make fitting it into the diary much easier, but it'd be good to know what it's like before driving the hour there. The other option (also an hour) is Strikeforce CQB.

Bristol Airsoft courthouse was probably my favourite site, had some amazing fun there especially when it was only about 10 of us at a game. Sadly though the site has shut down for the foreseeable.

  14. First game in 2 years last weekend at Spartan airsoft CQB, went with a group of 6 friends from school, one of which was his first time. Overall good day, as always the stairs acted as massive chokepoints in games where there was a lack luster objective but other than that the marshalls & games were good.

    [rant ahead]
One massive peev I have though is the fat fuckers who love to mouth off at the back ranting and raving to rentals, kids etc that they need to f'ing push up more and stop pussying around, while they sit at the back catching their breath from walking 2 feet. I can understand a bit of encouragement, most people usually give some and it is helpful for pushing out a choke point but when its the same tards with about 3 teeth and as many braincells all day, arguing with marshalls and saying they'll wrap their 'rifle' around someones head, throat punch this that and the other it gets annoying as fuck. Hit taking was alright, apart from one classic SAS patched black multicam warrior who obviously thought his plates were real as it took about 5 bursts for him to stop shooting other people (If you're going to wear a bulky set up and can't feel hits, for the love of god take it off). The whole thing seemed to have way more agro people than I remembered with a couple of out bursts through out the day from people who forgot we are running around with toy guns for a bit of fun.

Other than the aforementioned rant, a good day and everyone came away happy in my group and wanting to go even further with upgrades and such, especially the new guy who's first time it was and is now saving to buy his own kit. He did mention a couple of times he people weren't taking hits but that was part and parcel sadly. Was also really fun to put the radios to use within the group. Now to get me ukara back in time for that fal
