  1. Looking at getting red dot + magnifier for sniper rifle... am I insane? I've noticed I don't really go above 3x on scopes and I play sniper aggressively.

I mean, yes. But at the same time Ive run red dots on some lower-power lever-actions and such, so its feasible. Personally Id run a 1-4 lightweight LPVO - you still get the 1x if you want it, and LPVO glass and clarity is exponentially better than a magnifier. Magnifiers kinda suck, even in the real steel world - youre magnifying *everything* by 3x or whatever, which includes your reticle; Youve just turned your 2MOA reticle into a 6MOA, taking up a ton of space in your optic and now instead of aiming at a specific spot on a target, youre just aiming at the target as a whole. They also fisheye pretty badly, and are just overall not a great idea. They also tend to take up the same space and weight as a LPVO, and tossing a throw lever on a LPVO takes the same action as flipping a magnifier to the side, so you really get 0 positives to using a magnifier over a LPVO.

Cost is pretty similar, though a LPVO will add a few quid - looks like the Vortex Crossfire 2 1-4x can be had for 200, while a G43 and eotech are a combined 150 or so. Vortex does have that no questions asked returns policy as well; that alone makes them my preference in airsoft. There are cheaper red dot combos you can go for; G33s are cheaper for instance (but larger and heavier), but my vote would still be on a LPVO.

  2. Can anyone recommend a replacement fire selector plate for the vfc hk417 or somewhere that doesn't want £100 for shipping it

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

Have you tried talking to VFC themselves? Ive ordered parts for my 417s direct from them before and the shipping costs were negligible enough that I dont even remember them.

  3. Seriously thinking of turning this MG4 into a MG4a3... Someone talk me outta this...

@Adolf HamsterThere is. VFC made it and its odd. But I am legally required to own one since I run German kits.

  4. Spicy take time. Plate carriers look stupid on larger individuals. I'm not just talking about carrying a bunch of extra pounds, I mean for big and tall people. I've got a carrier that I want to use with my normal rifles when I'm not sniping, but every time I put it on I think it looks comically small on my 6'5, heavy-set frame.

This year I'm going to put together a CQB / speedy-aggressive / breacher loadout to go with a future MWS purchase (and also to use with my AK, but mags are nowhere to be found :(). A bit of a change of pace from being a bush monster, but I want to diversify my loadout choices!

Danglers help a good bit tbh. Also, go with a soft armor carrier to fit form better. Though after a point youre always gonna end up at the "bulletproof bib" if youre just too big.

For instance. At the end of an 8-hour game at a MilSim recently, I was tired and forgot to suck in my gut for this pic. Not my best look haha:

On the flip side, heres the same thing a week or so earlier - but with a dangler pouch this time. Much better at hiding my curves lol - and Im even wearing the bulletproof bib in this one - a Crye JPC instead of the larger IDZ vest I have on in the first pic:

Took one right above the belt line in March. Broke skin, and has turned into a bruise-looking scar. Guy wasnt shooting hot either - sub 1J.

  6. Was getting pestered to get my booster jab, one day before gameday.  Glad I told them to F'off.. As had it yesterday and today I can't lift my left arm very well...and have a mad headache. (Will be fine tomorrow)  AIRSOFT comes first..then booster.  ;)

Yea the latest booster wiped my energy levels, but it did make my mom somewhat sick for a day. No reason it cant wait a day haha.

So far the 1903 seems better than the Lee - trigger mech, hop, and barrel being VSR compatible is a good thing.

  7. Forum fudged then...1 year in when I joined in 2016 lol

  8. Doubt it, but anyone have a P* F1 and F2 lying around? Trying to get accurate measurements to adjust one of Bingo's gearbox shells to fit the apparently slightly different F2.

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

Afaik its more than just that. The shell I have printed fits the F1 just fine theoretically. I sent it off to the shop to have an engine installed in it, they say the F2 doesnt fit and want to know if I want to just buy a F1. Id much rather go with an F2 but dont know the sizing differences, and I dont really want to have them send the gun back to me for me to do that hopefully simple meausrement and then send it back to them.

  9. Parcel arrived from HK today, so I now have stubby mp5 mags! I way prefer them to full size, especially since I use the mp5k as a secondary.

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

I love my short mags. I use them in my mk23 carbine, my new PP-91 Kedr lookalike Mosquito, and as a triple set to make mags 8-10 for Sims.

  11. Does no one want to swap a PSG1 haha. I wonder why oh I’m asking a lot for it. Maybe I should make it cheaper.

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

Several factors honestly. Most people arent going to want to pay 130quid over retail even if it has an added scope. This is even more true if its a GBB. Then the market for GBBs is generally smaller than that of AEGs, so your crowd of potential buyers is smaller. Next, GBBs as DMRs tend to be less accurate than their AEG counterparts, so people looking to field it are going to be turned off by that. This is compounded by only having one mag - people are going to need to buy more if they want to field it (and the mags arent cheap - an extra 50 quid a pop adds up fast). Any gun once used generally drops in value by a third, so at best you should expect to get about 675 by following only that rule ((860+165)*2/3)(though that can vary wildly based on availability, desire, etc.). A collector is just going to buy new, as they will want a perfect condition version, and brand new that gun plus the scope would only cost about 1020 quid. Id set it at 800 open to offers, and see what comes along, expecting to get between 650 and 800 for it. Theres no major issue leaving your starting price that high, but most people are going to ignore it with that high of a price tag, even if its just a fill-in.

  16. Welp, TRMR got stolen this weekend. Thats gonna be a PITA to replace...

      SeniorSpaz87

Fun times. Im still baffled how it happened - I drop it around a corner, goes off, and Im hit as I pull back. enemy breaches my room, and after they clear onto the next I turn into their old room to pick it up and its gone. Spent 30 min wandering the area trying to find it. No dice. This was early Sat morning and by Sunday afternoon it had not been turned in. Ive got keyword flags up on the popular secondhand sale sites to keep an eye out for me, so we will see.

Maybe, but I guarantee its found its way into someones collection. With almost 600 people at the Op theres always a handful that are scumbags. Granted, I had a VTG "stolen" two years ago and it actually did get returned to me, so Im still hopeful...

  18. Looking at running a 558 holo, anyone run a G33/G43 replica magnifier? Worth the money or not?

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

@Adolf HamsterYep, its true. Personally I just set all mine (I have like 6 now haha) on 4x and leave them. Most have MRDs on them if I need to go 1x.

  19. Where on the scale of "Cool" is the PP-19 Bizon in your opinion? :D

    1. SeniorSpaz87

      SeniorSpaz87

Its OK, but the Vityaz is Ace. I refuse to own an AK, but I love my other Russian guns - though I like to be a bit odd with my choices. Went SR-3 instead of AK, Vityaz instead of Bizon, DP-28 instead of PKP, and I turned my VSR-X into a SV-98.

  23. Unprotected, not even once! Did a quick chrono yesterday, with a cardboard box filled with packaging material and even a towel as the backstop. One of the shots ricocheted and smacked me right at the bottom of the brow bone leaving a sore welt. It goes without saying had I been positioned even a CM to the left, that could have been a lot worse!

I keep at least one set by the table saw, one by my dremel station, one in my airsoft area, and one by the lathe/milling machines. A BB to the eye sucks. A metal shaving is worse...
