It just needs sling mounts and some parts haven't been blued yet. It should be finished in about a week. I have a WW2 game on 28th Feb so I should have it for that.

it's a really impressive build, but i just can't call it cool / the gun is 'kin hideous!

Some guns, like the SMLE are just good looking. Guns like the Owen are a bit more untilitarian. It just looks wrong to have a top loading mag, but it means that it feeds well, it can be reloaded easily when prone and doesn't catch on vegetation as the Sten would. It's quite a bit larger than a Sten, this is because the main tube has a bulkhead between the bolt and the cocking handle. Dirt can get into a gun via the cocking handle slot but on the Owen, this doesn't matter as th...

try to go in there all co-operative so to speak but if it starts getting sh*tty then turn it around about the pressures recent put upon you in the role have meant difficulty sleeping due to stress etc......

That should make them ease up and back pedal

first and foremost they have to prove you was asleep, you could have just blinked your eyes ;-) 2nd go to see your GP, your suffering with stress caused by being suspended etc

  3. Looks like I will have to convert to Lipo's. Evelyn's (my Owen gun under construction) battery space has been confirmed as too small for a nimh.

Makes sense to do so, far better batteries

  4. managed to find a suitable washer and add extra tension to Matildas firing pin spring. No more misfires and significant improvement in power :)

Good to hear she's working much better now :) I've looked for Lee Enfield scope mounts but they're all $40-$80-ish and I don't think you could get them so easily in the UK. Most of them look too modern as well.

Seen those already. They're on about the Lee Enfield No. 4, I have the No.1 mk3. There is a hopeful looking groove and screw on the left hand side. I do wonder if I could get some metal bar the right size and screw it into the groove, then bolt the bar to an M14 type mount with some countersunk machine screws. Basically making something like http://www.midwayusa.com/product/141392/b-square-1-piece-interlock-receiver-mount-with-1-rings-smle-mk-3-2a-308-cal-matte . The correct mount i...

  5. Matilda my SMLE has arrived! The red stain on the wood is actually really nice in person and it looks like the internals are not smothered in grease as early ones were so tomorrow I shall try gassing her up and putting some rounds through her :)

The bolt is so easy to use. If I can get sniper fps and get the mad minute drill down....

I can't see how I would mount a scope without a £200 actual SMLE scope mount.

      Esoterick

Nice, I think they are lovely rifles but it really needs a loadout like you have to look right IMO.

  6. Matilda's first test outdoors and she let me down :( I think in the heat the gas pressure was higher and the hammer was unable to depress the gas release reliably. It looks possible to increase the spring tension on the firing pin though, which should solve this and make her more powerful.

    1. Russe11

      Russe11

Just took apart the bolt assembly. lots of small parts to lose! The striker seemed a bit rough around the edges so I gave it a light polish. I will need a small washer I don't have to improve the spring tension. Putting everything back together, Matilda is already noticeably crisper when shooting.

The firing pin tension system is brilliant, I've had a fiddle with it on my KJW and it's noticeably different. Need to try it with a chrono though

  9. NOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo. Was testing Matilda and she exploded! Pulled back the bolt and the gas release valve blew. Luckily the scope mount deflected the workings of the valve away from my head.

When Matilda works, she is very accurate. Not really a sniper as so far the power has been too low, but perfect as a DMR. Unfortunately, like all really sexy looking women, she appears to be rather high maintenance :D

  11. Owen Gun has a trigger and trigger guard and is now looking nearly complete. Just the stock and hand grips left to be done. I have also ordered the LiPo's and charger ready for it. Beginning to get excited about it now :)

I asked on here and ww2airsoft.org.uk whether someone could make it, at the beginning of October, I got a reply from Dadio on ww2airsoft after a couple of days but it took a month to get the Sten on which it's based. You can follow it all here: http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18577

  13. Owern gun has a trigger guard. Just the stock and hand grips and finishing work left before it's ready for me. I can't wait. I have just ordered the LiPo batteries and charger for it.

  14. Preparing to meet up with some WW2 re-enactors tomorrow. Webbing all blanco'd and Brasso'd, boots all polished (as much as they can be). I managed to find Tan Parade gloss polish, the boots look battered but shiney.

I'd say go for it mate. Always another type of game to go to. You can get some of the stuff pretty cheap too. Would also be an excuse for more guns later on!

  16. Soldier of Fortune order arrived, spent the evening re-blancoing my webbing in Aussie Khaki instead of Late war Green. I also promoted myself to Corporal as I also ordered some stripes :)

Might get pictures on Sunday, I'm going to meet up with some re-enactors at Lacock at War. Annoyingly you can only buy stripes in pairs and the Aussies only wore them on the right arm.

  18. Soo happy with my Owen gun. According to the Germans it has some insane range. Jingles couldn't be arsed getting out of bed 'cos it was raining in the morning though. Shame, it was an epic battle and would have made an awesome video. I got 3 knife kills with the P08 bayonet :)

I kinda got that at The Mall last week. Brought three guns; my Raider GBB as my primary, my ACM P90 and my backup, and my new ACM MP40 to chrono. Turns out, it was too cold for my Raider, and my P90 had a grease buildup that caused it to have an 80fps jump. So I ended up using an MP40 at a modern game. Got a few people asking me about it. Shame about jingles, but at least you had fun

  19. Sooo close to having the funds for my SMLE. If I don't eat this week I could order it now :D

Blanco is used to colour the webbing. In this case I now have 2 sets, the new one came blanco'd green so I scrubbed the blanco out of my original set and then blanco'd it Khaki.
