    I use olive drab kit with my black rig, but it doesnt really matter. Thankfully there is no camo police.

    Chill mate. You take life too seriously.

    Its legible. One thing Ive learnt is I could spend hundreds of pounds getting it done professionally and somebody would still criticise it.

    Youre right about the appearance but Id rather put my energy into the games.

    I got a bit fed up of people trying to work out what milsim games are coming from the different UK organisers and a couple of established forums and FB pages telling me it's all too difficult.

    So I've started a Facebook group called Milsim UK to act as a repository for an event calendar and general milsim questions, gossip and news.

    The calendar lives on the Internet rather than FB and is nothing fancy but does its job. Its open for any milsim organiser to use, so hopefully the spread of games it contains will grow (after all its free advertising for them).

    you just move the dot using the adjustments on the side of the holo. Make sure your hop is sorted first and pick a windless day otherwise the gusts will screw up your zeroing. Also do the zeroing on a reasonable ranged target; make sure its on the horizontal before the bb starts to fall off and dont go for something too close or too far. Try to adopt a typical engagement range you use in your games.

    If the organiser can't even get back to you with answers on questions this basic... well personally I wouldn't be giving them my money.

    The milsim I went to, I asked the company putting it on a lot of the exact same things you've asked here and they got back to me very quickly with detailed answers. You're paying out a fair bit of cash to go to an event like this and bringing the right stuff is vital, lest you end up bringing either a load of gear that's physically impossible to carry around, or are woefully under-prepared at the other end of the scale.

    I have an ASG franchi tri-shot which is a springer. Cheap, simple and fun. We have our first milsim in the Zoro series in March and its a counter terrorism game with lots of vehicle and cqb work so pistols, shotguns and SMGs come into their own.

    Dont run before you can walk. Go to a few skirmishes, get your UKARA if youre over 18 and then decide where you want to go from there. Bear in mind that milsims generally speaking, dont allow two tone airsoft guns.

    I bought some Madbull 0.25g Tracer BB's but i have still not used them. I have seen tracer ammo used to great effect during night games though, ie being able to see exactly where your fire is going which is good for:

    1) adjusting your aim to make hits on targets in partial cover;

    2) accurately rattling someone's cover so they keep their head down while a team mate scoots up and pops them at close range;
    3) preventing cheating. I have also been told that if you fire tracer ammo without a tracer illuminating unit in your faux suppressor, mag, or hop up chamber, if you are using an IR illuminator and NVG the tracer BB becomes visible to you but not those without NVG.

    The value is in the pretty colours flashing through the air in a low-light or dark environment I have only seen them used during indoor CQB.

    They are useful for marking where targets are located, and you can often see the tracer BBs bounce off players so you know they they are in range and have been hit (even if the player does not). Conversely they do give away you position.

    Some guns have different sizes and CW or CCW threads. Generally you can get an adapter but there are a few odd makes where its not possible. For example I struggled with a G&G rifle which had an odd size compatible with little.

    Sorry but you listed those two pistols in your op.

    This thread just shows that buying airsoft guns is a very personal and subjective experience.

    If youve got small hands, some of the guns in your second wish list are probably too big too.

    Suggest you visit a shop and look at some physical models to see what suits you best.

    I usually go in a shop with one intention and come away with something totally different.

    Yes we saw the opportunity for weaponfest orgies with the weapons box at the start.

    However, in the way Okto uses the tool, its more about replicating what we intend to do at a physical milsim rather than "winning the exercise" by any means possible. So, typically we would only carry weapons types and the number of mags we do at a milsim.
    As we only play a fireteam at a time, the players are all over 16 and usually keep each other in line if people get silly. A lot of weight also slows you down significantly.

    On a different note, we also find these video guides very useful although we have to filter the advice about shooting through walls accordingly.

    Baz JJ got a reaction from Zak Da Mack in Using Arma 3 for Milsim Training
    Four of us played this evening and we made an attack on an airfield. We had to discuss the objective over Teamspeak, work out what weapons we each needed (no point in unnecessary duplication), worked out fireteam roles, etc.

    The interface to the game is relatively easy and we have a virtual armoury which is available at the beginning so we can select our camo, loadout, weaponry etc and so choose what you want or need.

    We were able to work together to fight our way past the gate guards, deal with the patrols and then destroy three aircraft with an RPG and charges. The game senses your load in terms of weapons and ammo and controls your stamina.

    As you say Zak, if nothing else it gives you the chance to keep in touch with airsoft pals between games and allows you to polish your comms.
