I don't really see much of a problem with the BAC proposal for the retailers who stand to benefit from reduced costs or the players who can play anywhere to get and keep their defence - cost £7 per year - thats less than a bottle of BBs. However the sites stand to lose their regular players, especially noobs.

Although a bit quiet, this is the best Airsoft forum Ive come across. I use Facebook a lot too and there are some big groups there, but they are also hit and miss.

the other general airsoft forum isn't much better. run by mods who only like the sound of their own voice

Dont go there. Any firum run by a retailer is going to be a bit biased

the people who are starting it up are retailers I believe

The transistor is a switch. When its off, the emitter voltage is 0V (transistor not conducting is effectively a high resistance = open circuit).

When its switched on by applying a voltage, its emitter output will increase. In this case to 6V. Normally you use a resistor in the collector leg to reduce this.

In an emiiter follower circuit, you take the voltage from the emitter which is what this circuit is.

As soon as the transistor switches on, the emitter resistor is connected to the potential divider circuit through the B-E. The 6V sees a 5K resistor in series with effectively two 10k resistors in parallel. This will put around 3V at the base, still enough to keep the transistor on. The important thing is that when the transistor is hard on,its resistance between collector and emitter is virtually zero, a short circuit. This effectively connects the 6V rail voltage to the top of the emitter r...

if you consider the moment when the voltage is switched on at the supply, the potential divider of the 5k and the 10k will put an initial 4V at the base.

The transistor will conduct through its base-emitter (from the 6V rail through the 5k resistor across the b/e and to the negative rail.

sorry that is 2-4V is at base w.r.t negative rail. VBE will be 0.7V. However the answer you need is the emitter voltage which is 6V. Do you follow why ?

so voltage across the emitter resistor and therefore at the emitter w.r.t the negative rail is 6V as the transistor will be turned hard on (saturated) by 2-4V at VBE

If VCC is 6V, then the voltage at the base will be 4V initially due to the potential divider, falling to 2V as soon as the transistor switches on.

As soon as this happens, assuming there is no resistor in the collector leg, then the full 6V will appear across the 10K emitter leg resistor.
