unfortunately the ports were all blocked too and no admin rights to get around. they'd hired some nerds straight out of a computing course and they seemed to know all the tricks
i started smoking with the Admin at my college most mornings, after a few weeks i discovered he's an amazing csgo player and he ended up giving me administrator rights on the high spec rigs in my college, but now im f***ed haha!
