I’m interested to see this next time you are out at Enemy Down 👍
Sounds good! Probably won't be until next month, gonna stay relatively local for the time being, it's getting around that time of year 😂

I wrote a little about my recent outing to Anzio Camp (with photos) and a little problem I had with my beloved PDR-C:

I wonder what you guys think about this type of content (“Battle Stories”), would you like to continue reading stuff like this, or is it not your cup of tea? Let me know!
A great read, I could hardly pull away! Really enjoyed the pictures you added to the post as well, I'll definitely be stalking that website now 👀

I picked this up thinking of all the cons of an Eotech clone (Seeing your own reflection when light is behind you in a dark area, horrible parallax etc) and was pleasantly surprised when this sight had none of those downsides! The XTO seems to have little to no parallax and it has a mirrored finish on the front glass, but you don't see your reflection if you're in a dark area and have a light source behind you. I paired this up with Vector Optics' x5 Flip-to-side Magnifier and have encountered no reticle ghosting, nor any distorted image when looking through the lens, it's crystal clear. The buttons function as normal, with pressing the up and down buttons simultaneously turning off the optic, pressing the up button turning it on, up and down changes the brightness of the reticle, and the NV button turning the reticle from red to green and vice versa. The optic also has working elevation and windage controls on the right side of the metal outer shell. It also uses a CR123A battery, the same as the real steel. I'd been looking for a good, or even usable Eotech clone for quite a while, and I never saw anyone reviewing this sight on the website, the only 2 video reviews being on YouTube. Here's some footage of the parallax from one of the reviews, in case you're wondering.
Here's a link to the XTO on Patrol Base and here's a link to Vector Optics' 5x Flip-To-Side Magnifier, again, on Patrol Base. I highly recommend this holo sight and magnifier pairing!
Here's a picture of my VFC HK416A5 with both the XTO and Magnifier installed:

you mean valid defense...
Yes, I was going by the most popular method, being UKARA.
49 minutes ago, EDcase said:The law states that a buyer of a RIF must be over 18 and have a valid defence.
This is done by retailers with 'defences' such as UKARA, Reenactment Society membership, Museum Curator, Film/TV production.
For private sales its the sellers responsibility to ensure the buyer is a legitimate airsofter.
You can sell to anyone (if you think they are legit) BUT if that person then commits a crime with the RIF then it can come back to you being prosecuted depending on the gravity of the crime.
(Has there been a case of a seller being prosecuted?)
True, however this law doesn't apply to "gifts". To have a UKARA membership is to have a valid defence, ie proof you're planning on using it for airsoft and nothing else. However, for private owners, so long as you're gifting the firearm, it is not against the law, which is what I was referring to in relation to OP's original post. OP should be fine to send the RIF to his friend legally, so long as nothing was exchanged in return for said gift.

Subsequent analysis over the years since have shown that reduction in gun crime did not lower by taking legally owned guns from their owners.
Gun-related deaths did drastically lower, as did overall gun crime. Also, I was told the majority of people were slightly annoyed at handing in their firearms, but they agreed that school shootings should never happen again.

There's a huge difference between trying to complete a loadout and walting and it seems that most of the people getting all hot and bothered about "stolen valour" aren't actually servicemen at all but wannabe try hards. I mean yes, there's the whole "don't wear something if it has to be earned" like a commando insignia or whatever but if ANYONE tells me that they think a 14 year old kid or some overweight, middle aged weekend warrior is honestly trying to make out that they served by wearing an SAS badge to a Sunday skirmish then they're being bell ends. The old boys covered in gongs at remembrance services or people trying to pass themselves off for a discount or special treatment are the problem, not a few airsofters looking to replicate a 90's Delta operator!
As an ex-serviceman, stolen valour genuinely doesn't bother me, nor the people I know, unless they're trying to get something out of it/expect something. The amount of times I've seen a walt in pubs chatting up women is uncountable, and every time me and my friends just laugh at him at our table because at the end of the day, it's not really harming anyone, and they're not disrespecting those who do/did serve.
The only time I can understand a serviceman going off on a stolen valour is if one of their friends was KIA, in which case ol' walty's gonna be in for a rude awakening. But rocking a patch in airsoft? I couldn't see that as being disrespectful. If anything they're only showing their support by rocking a unit patch, or they're making a tit of themself, depending on the player.

I have a UKARA membership and one of my friends has recently decided to start airsofting, I offered to gift him one of my old AEGs but he lives relatively far away (2 hours). Obviously he does not have a UKARA membership, and due to the distance I would rather send the RIF by courier. Is it legal, and will I encounter any problems sending a RIF to my friend via a courier? Would I need to put my UKARA membership number on the packaging, and would that cause any problems since the package would be going to a different address than that which is registered with my UKARA membership? If it's too much hassle then I could charge it up for him and bring it down the next time we go skirmishing. Thanks all
To add on to the other lads, the law states it's illegal to sell an RIF to someone without a UKARA membership. This means no goods or currency can be exchanged as payment for the RIF. If you're gifting the RIF to your friend, with nothing being exchanged in return, then it's perfectly legal.

Have you bought a gun only to discover its an absolute pile of shite ?
bought my eldest a Evolution Tango Down ECR-5 ETS a few months ago and was shite from minute one.
Took it in for a deans conversion and straight away problems occurred - mosfet was fried and despite having issued sorted it was still only achieving just over 100 FPS.
Anyway decided that I wasn’t wasting money on it and now its a expensive wall hanger.
luckily I’m happy with rest of my purchases and other than the one dissatisfying experience everything else I’m more than happy with
What optic is that? Looks nice

You’ll have to post a pic when the new riser comes in id love to see it, what are the optics you are using? Ive tried the repro G33 and vortex optic but didn’t really get on too well with it
I'm using the Feyachi RDS-25 and the Vector Optics 5x Flip to Side Magnifier (The 3x was out of stock rip).

Nice build buddy, how you finding the magnifier? I tried running one at one point in time but didn’t get on too well with it, I found there was too much wobble so couldn’t really hold zero all too well
My rds' riser is slightly too tall for the rds to be perfectly level with the magnifier, so I've ordered a slightly shorter one in the meantime. As for holding a zero, it's held up surprisingly well. I had to adjust the magnifier so that the rds' reticle was in the centre of the optic, and it's been fine since then. Both the red dot and the magnifier is rated for actual firearms, so it's very nice.

Might be easier to change the stock to a CTR one instead. That has built-in qd sockets.
Or maybe a qd sling plate? As for better quality swivels, anything sold for actual firearms will be fine. Of course if your qd fittings are cheap, what is your sling like?
I'll need to find a CTR stock, any ideas/websites?
I'm using the Viper Tactical VX Sling.

My Umarex HK416A5 w/ suppressor, angled foregrip, PEQ-15, 5mm polycarbonate sight protector, Feyachi RDS-25, Vector Optics 5x flip-to-side Magnifier, PTS EPM Mag and genuine Magpul MOE Stock. Also using a Viper Tactical VX Sling. Got somerubber rail protectors, to make it more comfortable to hold. The internals were upgraded primarily for longevity, with a new inner barrel for a slight range boost. Here are my upgrades:
ORGA LEX05 6.05mm inner barrel – 275mm
Prometheus Air Seal Chamber Packing – Soft
Firefly Namazu Flat Hop – Hard
Air Pad v2/v3 3/16” 70D
I also cleaned up and shimmed the gearbox. Fair to say I'm happy with it! -
Currently using a cheap QR buckle and have my sling wrapped around one of the sling slot on the stock, but I'd rather have it in a QR configuration. Preferably not breaking the bank, if possible.
The only mount I've found so far is this one, but it's out of stock.

Huh, I did not know that. All I really knew is that they make what am bestest gnu EVER, the Double Eagle M83 A2. I mean just look at this bad boy, that's nearly 200fps of raw pulsing plastic gearbox power there, a red dot, 10,00,0000 lumen tactical flashlight, 100% grippable grip and a fully suppressed silencer.
Most noobs go for the orange, but just between us, blue adds the most Joule creeps.
This was my second ever airsoft gun, but mine was orange and black. I still have my first ever airsoft rifle:
The good ol' HA2020BA Spring SA80, albeit mine was orange. I still actually have it lmao

From the Titan power website:
It'll fit, but the stock won't collapse all the way. If that's not a showstopper then yeah, go for it.
I'm using a real steel sizing technique to gauge what position my stock should be in and it's like 2/3 positions from full collapsed, so here's hoping that'll be fine. Thanks for the reply haha

I'm wondering if a Titan 11.1v 3000mAh stick battery will fit inside my HK416A5 w/ the Magpul MOE stock. I know that I want a Li-Ion battery (Primarily due to my newly acquired phobia of Li-Pos potentially exploding), and I'm usure of what 11.1v battery will fit, as I can't find any information on the length of the 416A5's buffer tube

Fair enough. To be honest it would have been fine for a while but each to their own!
At 350 FPS 0.28 should be absolutely fine, flat hop should allow you to use heavier ammo though so test it with the 0.28 ones and see how it goes. If it's overhopping them, start looking at heavier weights!
Gotcha, thanks! I got all these upgrades to prepare for England V Scotland, but now I've no clue how many BBs, batteries etc I'll need to bring, as I've never participated in a multi-day event haha

OK, he's fitted a flat hop nub so if he hasn't flat hopped the rubber or used one of their straight, moundless rubbers then that's odd. I'd say it should be fair to assume that it's running around 350fps (you could probably ask him to see what it chronoed at when he modified it - if he didn't test it then that's a problem). 0.28 should be no problem at all. If he has flat hopped it then you may well be able to go heavier.
Do you have the full details of what he put in?
More to the point, was this a new gun being upgraded or one you've had for a while?
All the upgrades I sent to him were installed, and it was chrono'd at 350FPS with 0.20G BBs.
I got the gun new and immediately sent it to Ross for an upgrade, as again, I heard the internals weren't exactly the best, so I wanted to increase longevity haha

What FPS are you getting? Did you flat hop the Prommy rubber or is it one of their ones without the bump?
I'm not entirely sure, I haven't tested the FPS yet due to only having access to Nuprol 0.20Gs, which is why I'm planning on ordering Geoffs SP 0.28G BBs, as I heard they're some of the best quality BBs. I also sent the AEG away to get upgraded by Ross from The Cage, so I'm not sure if he flat hopped the prommy rubber. All I know is that the upgrades I listed above were installed, as I heard the VFC internals aren't all the best, so most of the upgrades were to ensure longevity, whereas I was told the barrel would increase the range.
-
Here are the upgrades that were installed:
- ORGA 05LEX 6.05mm Inner Barrel - 275mm
- Prometheus Air Seal Chamber Packing – Soft
- Firefly Namazu Flat Hop - Hard
- Air Pad V2/V3 3/16" 70D
I also cleaned up and shimmed the gearbox. The reason for the post is that I'm currently wondering what BB weight I should use. I'm thinking of using 0.28G, but I'm not entirely sure. Naturally I'll be using Geoffs Super Precision branded BBs.
Needing a new Eotech clone? I highly recommend Theta Optics' XTO!

And I'm not trying to grow any sort of social media presence lmao
