  1. Apologies, I didn't really want to delve into the make up of UTM as its a bit more complicated than I cared to write in the post. My example was poor so was edited out.
  2. I find the view on airsoft really depends on the individuals and the type of live-round shooting they are involved in. Generally people I have met who are involved in practical shooting skills such as close-protection, have a favourable view on airsoft as it allows them and clients to train on specific scenarios cheaply and without running any risks. There are a few companies within the UK that run their close protection/CQB courses using airsoft guns before progressing onto real steel in order to get the clients drilled and the muscle memory obtained. Other places that don't utilise airsoft tend to use UTM munitions which are pretty cool. Like it has already been said, people gather their views based on what is on the internet (i.e. Youtube) and this isn't the best representation of everyone in airsoft.
  3. I understand money is an issue but I would actually recommend a two-tone gun if you are brand new to airsoft. The reasoning being that it will probably be a fairly cheap and cheerful model but it will still give you the chance to practice some of the basics such as shot placement, reloads, field stripping and maintenance. That way come end of lockdown you will be pretty damn efficient with airsoft guns and have more than a basic knowledge, this will not only help out in playing airsoft games but will also allow you to make an informed decision on what RIF to purchase later on 😊 . The worst idea would be to rush to purchase an RIF that looks cool but then turns out to be a pile of shi*e, so you will probably save a bit of money! The great thing with two tone guns is that when you do have your UKARA (any valid defence) you can modify it and make it a RIF! This then opens up the modification side of airsoft where you can really make the gun your own, I did this with my own two tone gun back in the day when I got my UKARA and it looks a hell of a lot better than the stock black version you usually can buy! Failing all that, have a good chat with your brother about what RIF is decent to buy and have a look online and he can always buy it as a gift for you. However, I wouldn't approach a shop to buy a RIF and hope they don't ask for a defence because you are then asking them to break the law and that isn't really fair. Hope this helps and good luck! 😊
  4. The DTD holsters all have a MAP price of £40 so you will find the same price generally where ever you look, unless your lucky and find a discount code! The latest iteration of the left-handed DTD holster is now injection molded and they are no longer 3D printing them.
  5. Hello Everyone, Thought I would just say 'hello' as I have just joined the forum although I have been a long time lurker of the forum and thought maybe I should just sign up instead of peeping! Not new to airsoft at all and been playing for quite a while but new to the forum as a member, hopefully be able to contribute in a meaningful way in the future. I'm based up in the north west of England and play quite a bit when able to at Level 2, Alpha 55 and All Arms Airsoft so probably met some of you at some point. My preference for gun is GBB and that is predominantly what I play with although I do have a King Arms PDW which is fun when I can't be bothered to run gas! Cheers 😀
