@Adolf Hamster's speedloader antics reminded me of a mod I'd been planning to do on mine to stop the push lock clicking open while in a pouch. Seems to be working so far! (Ignore the ropey engraving, function over fashion in this case).

Continuing my clear out I’ve made my way on to my ‘patch bag’, found this absolute relic in there. Crazy to think this event, which was around 200-300 in attendance if memory serves, would ultimately become NAE (an event I’m yet to attend but plan to if/when it runs again).
This spurred me to go on a trip down memory lane, ohh boy are those some ill fitting trousers and black boots with MC... what a sin! Good to see I was still loyal to 'mayo' ARs though. Ohh to be young again 😅.

Eye pro redone, much happier with it this time. More comfortable and overall a better blend with everything else. Definitely feels like a lesson in less is more sometimes.
Hoping to get some quick field tests in at the weekend, and perhaps a maiden voyage for the finished suit and SRS as it is now on the 31st depending on how things are with various restrictions and how comfortable I feel with the whole situation.- Show previous comments 6 more

Aye, fortunately the vast majority of my crafting is cable ties so super quick and easy to adjust as needed. Did a quick field test while out with the dog this morning, really happy with the colours just need to have a play around with the right side of the balaclava and the raffia to make sure it’s not hindering the use of my scope. I’ve intentionally done less crafting on the right side with that in mind as is, so hopefully not too much tweaking needed.

Hopefully this isn't within the realms of being an impatient prick (if it is... then sorry, not sorry), just wanted to do a bump of sorts of a thread I've got in the appraisals section... a section I myself rarely look at unless I have a post in there.
It's for a KSC G23f with some extra mags, if you have any thoughts on a reasonable/fair price please let me know because I'm clueless. Plenty of photos in the thread which I'll link here.

If you're going to incessantly chase after people trying to buy a RIF that you seemingly:
A) Can't afford the asking price of.
B) Likely aren't of age to have sold to you.
C) Can't be bothered to use proper English.
Please do so in private messages so we don't all have to read your pretty embarrasing scattershotting.P.S.
incessantly
/ɪnˈsɛsntli/
adverb
without interruption; constantly.

Our mam used to send us up the chippy on a Friday night for a shillings worth of chips and some free fish scraps for the cat. We never had a cat!
What we did enjoy though was the batter that fell of the fish and into the drip tray. The chippy would always give us kids a free bag. My god it was swimming in oil lol.
Bag of smiths salted crisps was 3d and had the little blue twisted salt packet in bag. Happy days🙂

Just got the dispatch notification for my SRS parts, so bloody excited. It’s also the first time I’ve ever put aftermarket parts in a RIF before I’ve skirmished it stock. By far one of my most frivolous airsoft purchases to date...

LCT versus E&L in terms of a ‘gucci’ AKS74U? I’ve gathered together all the pieces to upgrade the internals and throw some repro Zenitco parts on a Krink, the original plan being a relatively budget build using a Cyma (which ended up not being so budget). However, I’ve just had an unexpected bonus from work so I’m toying with upgrading the repro Zenitco parts to RS ones and jumping up from the Cyma to either an E&L or an LCT.
I’ll caveat that the most important element is probably how well either/or plays ball with real Zenitco parts, I’m expecting some fitting/fettling to be needed, but having no slop is ideal. Given I already have a pile of internal parts to hand for swapping out anything that warrants it I’m generally slightly less arsed about work needing to be done in that department.
Thanks in advance!

It's also just different elements of modifcation versus what I'm used to. Fettling a barrel nut or the like to get everything sitting flush on an AR is just a less daunting prospect versus taking a lump off the back end of rail and filling out a bit of outer barrel to get the latch working right. Largely because a barrel nut is generally going to be cheaper to replace than an entirely new handguard or outer barrel if you entirely botch it.
In other news, my first order from Zenitco arrived this morning, so that all went fairly smoothly. More than happy to order from there again for the handguard itself (and anything else that takes my fancy).

To add to what @alxndrhllsaid in case it wasn't clear: TM's VSR Gspec is a shortened version of their classic VSR and is pretty much the benchmark BASR.
-
Oh, right, neat. I do with I'd been able to get a shortie MB-02 rather than the longer MB-03. If I do get back into sniping (woodland is booked) I'll probably just throw in a shorter inner barrel and take a hacksaw to the outer. Can't be doing with lugging around weight that's not contributing to performance.
-
FWIW I believe 303mm barrels (prommy are ideal unless you're planning on going all in... like this idiot) reap the most reward when it comes to VSR cylinders, I won't even pretend to understand why I'll just throw the phrase 'volume matching' out there in an attempt to sound smarter than I am. I honestly can't remember where I read it, but it was definitely on here and from a source I deemed more reliable than the internet at large.
Edit: It was in this thread, I was quickly skimming to try and find it. Barrel talk starts toward the end of page 1 and follows onto page 2.

PSA, if you enquire about an item on the classifieds with a view to buy and then change your mind have the common courtesy to tell the seller. You’re well within your right to change your mind and spend your hobby pennies as you wish, but fuck me are woeful communication skills infuriating.
Much better, I needed that.

It also works the other way,i wanted to buy a RIF messaged the seller ,agreed to buy asked for paypal address and then nothing, bloke went dark on me .
How hard is it to let someone know that things have changed.
Be polite in both buying and selling ,you never know one day you may come face to face and have to have a Duel for Honour ..lol

Put in a bunch of work over the last few evenings to get the autumn suit and balaclava ready, decided to start again on the eye pro as I wasn’t happy with the blend with the balaclava. Greens will gradually be removed as we transition into winter and replaced with the cloth I dyed over the weekend. Will be paired with some Phantomleaf z2 KSK trousers.
(Blacked out the area my eye pro will be covering, partly to remove how distracting the skin tone is... partly because I had very derpy eyes. Waiting on the delivery of some Quietwear to cover the AAP grip, happy with the overall blend on the chest rig.)(Backpack still needs crafting, wanted to finish the back of the suit first to set myself up for a decent blend.)

I’ve done a mixture of onsite crafting, and crafting at home using reference photos. I agree to a point, which is why there is plenty of space to add natural vegetation on the day of. But have found natural greens need supporting with artificial ones (be that haloscreen or artificial leaves, or a mix of the two which is the route I took), natural greens have a habit of not staying very green for long!
Thats a great thing as we move deeper into autumn and winter because it adds to your variety of brown tones, but it’s a pain when you wanted some vibrant greens!
As with anything to do with ghillie crafting it entirely depends on where you’re playing, I certainly wouldn’t expect this to perform well in a pine forest for instance.

Sometimes a shit day and pay day coincide, and you make some potentially questionable decisions. Let's see how this plays out 🤷♂️.

at the risk of getting a bit philosophical, i think it's more of a doctrine/culture thing when it comes to the russians insofar as their focus seems to be more "close enough for government work", at least outside of special forces.
the thing i notice with the russian stuff is what often doesn't necessarily seem the most comfortable if you're sitting thinking about it (eg if you're messing around at home just holding the thing) just fades into the background when actually on the field.
-
For sure, outside of something being obscenely heavy I don't think many of the things we mess around tweaking do much once you're playing... but I definitely think they have an impact on how you feel afterwards. Much the same as a pair of ill fitting boots, you don't notice anything when the adrenaline is going and you're focused on other things. But then you sit down at lunch and realise your heels are throbbing. In that instance, unless you're a dope, you probably look at getting some new footwear because you know what the root cause is... and the same applies to me for attachments and the like. Though without intentionally trying to sound like a 'elit3 0per8r' (because I'm certainly not), many throw these things on RIFs for looks and don't actually know what they exist to aid with and with that, know what they could improve in terms of comfort by changing things out. We have the luxury of not having to consider a whole host of stuff that comes with real firearms to largely follow whatever list of priorities we have for our RIFs.
All comes with the caveat that folks should do whatever the hell they want, as long as they're having fun and not putting anyone (including themselves) at risk of any injury or grief.
(Thank you for saving my Saturday afternoon with a natter about ultimately useless shit, Christ I am so bored)

yeah i do agree. whilst i'd be the first to advise new starts not to cover their gats in superglue and drag them through wal-mart i also don't do super-light guns. the latest krink build is verging on sa80 heavy and that's just an optic, suppressor and 2dp in my defence, it's mostly for the exercise and my crippling addiction to blued steel.
i'm not against putting carbon fibre on an m4, to make it light but that m4 will have an alloy reciever. its a weird philosophy i know.
i can see your viewpoint on the whole comfort thing, maybe my views are centred around my build just suiting most standard length stocks.plus ofc arguments about effectiveness with this sort of thing in airsoft are kind of moot anyway given if we really cared about performance we'd be running those stupid m4 pistol things the speedsofters use

Welp, against my better(?) judgement I've gone ahead and ordered my first AEG in roughly half a decade. Also my first ever Taiwangun and Gunfire orders, so intrigued to see what that experience is like. That's the base gun, mags and external parts on the way for my 'heretical' AK. Let the hunt for tech to make it sing commence... because it certainly won't be me!
Sidenote, any advice in terms of batteries which fit in battery space of a CM045a would be appreciated. I'm planning on running 11.1's in it once it's had the things installed to make that safe/not at risk of making it die. It's weirdly refreshing to feel like a total noob again.

Of course you ask that question and i immediately forget what length the pdi in my aksu was. I wanna say 250 but honestly cant remember.
It did finish up right at the muzzle nut so was fine for different muzzle devices (although i was running a huge can because hpa+can=silence)
Internals wise changing little is a good move. The base cyma internals arent too shabby although air seal might need a little tlc and a fresh hop rubber to lift some proper weight ammo.
-
Haha, always the way! I won't lie, it's weird having to be even remotely specific with barrel length. I'm much the same where it's largely HPA with a can so if the barrel over runs the outer a bit it's not an issue.
I'm curious to see how long it takes before this ends up with an F2 in it... or gets kicked to the curb to be replaced by a GHK. But I convinced myself going for the more budget option of cladding an AK in Zenitco was likely the right call, at least to begin with. This one is very much a fashion over function (though I'll happily take both). In all my years I've never used an AK, so jumping in at the deepest of deep ends to start with seemed ill advised. -
I think a Perun V3 or an optical unit of some sort (titan v3 or the new aster v3) would definitely fix the semi auto lockups.
As far as batteries, my E&L can only take batteries that are less than 17mm in diametre if I want to fit them inside the gas tube.
If you go for a warfet, I recommend routing it through the front, into the front trunnion so that you keep the whole top cover dedicated to batteries. I didn't and I'm stuck to 7.4s (my 11.1s are too chubby to fit in the gas tube).

Absolutely blown away by the standard of service from X-Fire. The process for ordering is certainly a bit odd, but you can't argue with ordering something from Japan and having it in your hands 5 days later. Been struggling to find somewhere with a good stock of PDI barrels for a while, suffice to say should I ever need any more that's where I'll be going.

X-Fire are fantastic. I tend to default into a PDI barrel into all of my weapons and the order process is weird but yes very fast delivery. My last parcel got caught by customs. £16 charge (£12 handling - thanks parcelfarce) on a £36 barrel but I honestly don't care as it's easier and often cheaper than sourcing from anywhere else.

Can highly recommend Echigoya guns as well from Japan , been using them off and on for years and never had a problem of any sort and as an added bonus every now and again they chuck out free international delivery , couple of yrs ago a team mate picked up a TM recoil Scar L for £350’ish from them all in !

Booked on for Gangsta City, first 'non-regular' skirmish day in forever. Apprehensively excited!

Contemplating doing a step by step once all my ghillie garnish has arrived and I start the bulk of the crafting, not entirely sure where to put it. Tutorials would imply I know what I’m doing... I don’t. Guns, Gear & Loadouts? Thoughts?

Currently fending off the temptation of picking up one of the SigAir MCX's with the intention of throwing a Kythera in it. I know I shouldn't, but boy do I want to.
