I have spent way too much on Aliexpress this week...

@pyromancer6 I've always wondered how much of that 20% actually gets paid to the UK government!

Is Dogtag any good for bolt actions? Heading over this weekend, but heard that a lot of areas they play in are sub 30m engagements all around.
-
Depends on the areas and the game modes, much like Worthing. You can make it work in the right circumstances, but there is a lot of rapid advancing and cover in small areas that makes either a DMR or a 1J no MED a better option. They do also tend to play a trench game in the afternoon which is also going to give very limited opportunities for a bolt gun.
I tend to find running the MP5 works better at that site for me. By all means take a boltie, but maybe plan to be able to swap out if you find it's not working.
-
I've been to Dogtag loads of times and every time they've started with the same hold the line, attack and defend game. Defenders get one life and then have to retreat to the next point, with the attackers respawn being immediately behind the players furthest at the back. It's a good way to get warmed up, as on either team you don't have far to go after being hit. As mentioned, it is fast paced and target rich. I had a friend use his Boltie and he had a great laugh when he dug in and let the attackers advance past him, before picking them off with a pistol. The afternoon trench game is great fun, but again you'll likely want something which will allow you to burn through a few more BB's.
-
Dogtags my regular, bolt actions are good fun there. Back when I had one I never had an issue with any part we played, theres always engagements over 30m. (obviously their cqb village is a bit tricky but they only tend to use it at the end of the day). Definite worth bringing a boltie but as above, bring something you can fling bbs with too!

Super impressed by Orga and Japanese post. Ordered something like... a week ago, it was sent on the 6th and Parcelforce already attempted to deliver it yesterday (10th).
And by attempt to deliver, I mean they shoved a card through my door without knocking. Getting them to redeliver it to my local post office so I'll have my VSR widebore barrel ready for this Sunday's skirmish!

Ordering from Evike Europe, items from USA warehouse, took 1 month to arrive.
Ordering from Evike US, already got the standard UPS paperwork through that I always get from Evike, filled them in and sent back. I think I'm going to have the items next week, so that would be just over a week to arrive.Excuse me? 🤣
-
Customs have my parcel, I've filled out all the paperwork and there's no RIF in it... So why do I still feel so anxious? 😂

UPS? They can't be bothered to read the HS code / product description or I wonder if they even bother to scan, so they just make you sign a form to cover their own ass whenever there's a hint of airsoft. RIF or no RIF.
Don't mind so much but surely they could create an electronic form that's linked to your tracking number than you can fill out.

Probable atrial fibrillation means I can't play too hard this weekend, so now I have an excuse to be a bush wookiee. However, also gives me an opportunity to have a bit of a tuning day so the Tanaka m700 is coming out as well as the KJW one so I can tune them both!

Might take a pass at trying to persuade the staff at my local site to allow DMRs to have a 20m MED instead of 30m (1.64J is the power limit). Wish me luck

@Rogerborg See, I wouldn't mind that; very much a fan of practicing what I preach, but I started airsoft in a time where we were full-auto-ing each other up close with slightly hot guns (because the chinese clone guns came out of the box too strong and nobody chrono'd back in the mid 00s). I'd even be happy to take it at 1.88J if it meant bringing the power up to that too, but that will never happen at my local site because I think one of the owners hates DMRs and is perfectly fine with literally nobody using one at Worthing.

Had all my gats out earlier, so I finally fixed the leak on the VSR (one of the o-rings in the engine wasn't in place) and sent my TM m21 to High Pressure Airsoft to get the alignment/feeding issue sorted once and for all. With that, all of my guns should be in perfect working order as soon as the TM m21 is sorted and sent back.
-
Finally got around to sorting my leaky mk23 mags. They were sitting around doing nothing, so I tried my hand; best case I fix them, worst case they stay broken. Filled the pressure valve with epoxy (stupid design!) and replaced the o-rings with silicone gasket and I am now back up to 5 mk23 mags as they're gas tight again!

Playing in pitch black tunnels in total silence with earmors amplifying all the ambient noise... Really showed me how squeaky my current sniper belt setup is. Going to be revisiting that configuration so I don't feel like a walking megaphone (it's not that loud, but with the earmors all I heard all day was my kit squeaking!)

Action Army m700 hop unit is the best hop unit I've ever used. it's TDC, uses VSR rubbers and has four grub screws that secure the barrel in place and make sure there's no wobble or rotation.
Just took the 85 degree rubber out of my m700 and put in a 70 degree. Hopefully now it won't overhop .48s into the sky at any power over 1J (and even 1J I had to put the hop completely off for it to be fairly flat) -
A question to the history buffs: when did the 10rd removable magazines for the m700 release? Was it before the Vietnam war, or were they still using the 5rd internal mags at that point?

Does anyone know anyone who could do custom sorbo pads? v7 gearbox sorbo pads just don't seem to exist in Europe

Honestly, part of the reason for the consideration is because my HPA m14 has been a disappointment. It likes to jam itself open when I take the mag out and fire it to clear it which is a pain in the arse. I have a 2nd m14 and already had most of what I needed for a good build with it, so figured I may as well.

Anyone who enjoys sniping, might I recommend a gym membership? I just played my first game since starting in the gym about a month ago, and all the slow, deliberate movements, keeping my aim steady, low crawling etc are all waaaay easier now that I'm packing on a bit more muscle. Makes the game so much more enjoyable!

I know what you like @Rogerborg 😚

Great. Now I have to add a gun to the "I want one" list. At least the "I want one maybe" list. I think a WE m14 might be a bit of fun, but I also have an aversion to anything WE...

Yeahhhhh, they look like so much fun and I'd totally tweak mine if I did get one (as I do with all my guns). DO I think it'll shoot as well as my HPA m21? No. Not in the slightest. It'll be loud, inconsistent and temperature dependent, but maaaaaaaaan would it be a fun gun to use.
But yeah, it's also a WE... I've seen a lot more WEs fail spectacularly than work spectacularly. 🤔 -
Playing devils advocate it’s the parts you’ll probably swap out anyway that have the potential to fail ? 🤔
plus just to stick an extra bit of ‘no pressure’ my mate had put a wooden stock on his and quite frankly I’d say it was as near to handling the real McCoy as you could get in this country 😍
-
Installed the new internal parts for the MWS so all that remains are the externals, but that can come later.
it's so much harder to get to the barrel and hop unit in the MWS than the TM GBBR AKM

Welcome to my world of guns. I think I only have a single gun that is stock and it's an AEP. Blame it on me doing sniping for 16 years where the mentality is "change all the things!"
Though considering I do want to build 3 more upper receivers for it (CQBR, M16A4 and XM177), this is only the beginning!
-
You know, I realised why I prefer my m700 over my VSR, even though it won't ever shoot as well. VSR feels like a toy, m700 feels like an actual rifle.
-
Both have the same metal parts, but the m700 stock is far thicker and substantial than that of the VSR, which is pretty small. Also, the realistic operation just feels like a dream to shoot. Been in the hobby for about 16 years now and I am definitely a bit of a collector. Once this m700 is done, I'm revisiting the Tanaka m700 to make it shoot just as well because it's my rarest and most eye-catching piece.
Though I'm under no impression it will ever shoot as well or consistently as the VSR (unless I HPA tap the magazines and that would defeat half the reason I like it...), I will do everything in my power to make it shoot as well as possible. Very impressed with the Action Army hop unit for it.

Looking at Magpul bits for the MWS and I have come across the hardest decision any airsofter ever has to face... Aesthetics! Do I go...
- OD and be pretty unique (as I rarely see people with OD parts on their guns)
- FDE and be oper8r, but then I turn up to the prom in the same dress as all the other girls, which is diabolically taboo! (I think it looks the best, but it's also by far the most common look I see and I don't like being like all the other girls!)
- Or do I go black and be boring (I won't. If I wanted to stay all black, I'll just keep the original parts, thanks)
Decisions, decisions. Accessorising really is the most important thing, after all.

Ultimately, like it or lump it, if you’re going with Magpul furniture you’re already in the same dress as most of the other girls. The colour is somewhat a moot point. Have nothing against it, but if you have the desire to be a snowflake in any way, shape or form avoiding Magpul is probably wise. I’d just got with whatever your preference is, irrelevant of what you go with you know full well you’ll run into someone with something almost identical on your first day using it.

I might have just made a big purchase as I might have received an "in stock" notification for something in this time where things being in stock is rare...
Should be delivered tomorrow too
-
@Rogerborgin my defence, I've been waiting about 6 months or so. Then it was in stock and I knew I was going to be made redundant. Now I'm starting a new job and it's back in, so I figured I was allowed to treat myself

Off to my first Namsoft game this weekend. Time to hunt some GIs

@ImpulseWhere is this namsoft game? Not sure if I have anything appropriate for it (AKM and Chicom? :D). But I am looking for something a bit different to play this weekend.
-
@Rogerborgwell, they let me in so I'd say rice-hats filmsim
@Asomodai It was at Gunman Eversley Alpha. There's another one June 11th - 12th which is only £55 for the whole weekend if you come along as VC/PAVN. While I could only do Saturday of this one (Worthing game day on Sunday and one of the guys in our group is staff at Worthing), I'll be doing the whole weekend for the one in June! https://filmsim.co.uk/event/vietnam-june22/

I was looking forward to playing this weekend until illness poked its unwelcome head in. Don't know if it's covid (don't have any test kits) and I don't care if it is or not. I simply won't go and spread illness to all my friends just because I want to play BB wars
-
Had a dig around my assorted kit and rejigged my belt kit to incorporate an assault pack attached to a back panel so I can now use my large HPA tank with my m21 (small tank was fine, but now I can shoulder transfer and have no worries of running out of air). VSR still uses small tank, as I had a very active day last week and still had about 1k psi left in the tank, but the m21 had a tendency to almost run dry on a quieter day due to higher number of shots. On an active day, I could see me running out, and I did run out many times during AI500 last year and had to quickly pump up the tank.
Redid one of my chest rigs to use with the m21 as well, so I can carry 5 mags (350 BBs) plus a BB bag and speed loader in a utility pouch for those more active days. Also added 4 more pistol mag pouches to the rig in case I run the m21, a pistol (with 4 spare mags on the belt) and my mp5k on a sling with 4 spare mags on the chest rig. Won't be properly field testing it until spring and the foliage at my local site thickens up because at the moment I'm having way too much fun with my VSR and the open sight lines. -
Spicy take time. Plate carriers look stupid on larger individuals. I'm not just talking about carrying a bunch of extra pounds, I mean for big and tall people. I've got a carrier that I want to use with my normal rifles when I'm not sniping, but every time I put it on I think it looks comically small on my 6'5, heavy-set frame.
This year I'm going to put together a CQB / speedy-aggressive / breacher loadout to go with a future MWS purchase (and also to use with my AK, but mags are nowhere to be found ). A bit of a change of pace from being a bush monster, but I want to diversify my loadout choices!

@strykerles same, dude. Same.

@Impulse not sure what kind of colours you're looking at but I do have an OPS/UR-Tactical Advanced Modular Plate Carrier that I'm looking to move on. It's one of these https://www.ur-tactical.com/product/advanced-modular-plate-carrier-system/ in Kryptek Typhon. Fits me well, I just don't use it!
Drop me a message if you're interested.
