  1. i've played fields that have on occasion used a blank firing pistol as part of "find the macguffin" games, and in that context ie on a site that allows loud bangs, with everyone under no illusion that the game will end in a literal bang, i see no issue. however random players carrying them as a secondary? at best someone recognises it's a blank, and continues play accordingly at worst someone mistakes it for a real gun, and reacts accordingly in neither case can i see the use of a blank firing pistol in leui of an airsoft pistol has any utility to its user. as for cheating chrono? ban 'em, ban their mums, ban their hair, ban their pet chinchilla, ban their best freind's mate's plumbers aunt, ban their children and lay a curse upon their house unto the 9th generation. as for sites that have insufficient chrono/enforcement procedures? well i'd say play somewhere else but that's how i ended up leaving the sport when i ran out of sites.
  2. eh, i don't really see an issue with people wearing ghillies. end of the day if you don't know what you're at then draping yourself in mock hedgerow is going to offer the square total of bugger all assistance to your ability be concealed in the same way that owning a gucci set of screwdrivers doesn't make you a top tier airsoft tech. likewise someone who's gifted in the art of the sneak can become invisible almost entirely regardless of their choice of attire. this to me is separate from the other issue with ghillie wearers, to wit, the insistence of ankle armbands or other such lacking of identifiers. if the rest of us mere mortals are gonna have to wear a bright red armband to distinguish friend from foe then there should be no exceptions.
  3. a site can have all the clear signage, shouty marshalls and mandatory things you stick on the end of it. the question is: do we trust the average airsofter to do it? the answer?
  4. Eh, its a tuna masquerading as a rifle i dont think we're meant to understand it
  5. ahh, when i meant variants i was just meaning the different versions with/without trades, as opposed to the railed/hunter versions which afaik were available the whole time.
  6. as far as my knowledge of the g&g versions of the f2000 go there were sort of 3 versions: 1. they originally released it as an f2000, only for cybergun who owned the rights to using fn's trademarks to sue g&g 2. g&g re-released the same gun, but with the markings changed to the G2010, which is what you have 3. idk the precise route but you could get cybergun re-branded f2000's which would have the proper fn trademarks ultimately, it's unlikely that anyone who cares about the serial number isn't going to want the version with the fn trademarks be it original or the cybergun variant. and tbh i can't say even being a cybergun fully licensed variant nets you anything meaningful in terms of secondhand prices, these guns are just too niche for folk to care and tackle's valuation is about the right ballpark.
  7. It's been said well enough already but it's a message worth repeating. When a much younger (but no less handsome 😛 ) hamster was starting out in this hobby he bought himself his favourite gun, a g&g f2000 because bad company 2. Needless to say as a serial tinkerer it didnt take me long to have the thing to bits and back again, and whilst the g&g implementation of the v6 box is an absolute dream to work on compared to an m4 it just means you can skip right past the easy mistakes and into the sneaky buggers that haunt you for years. For example, i installed an active brake mosfet after learning the hard way how quickly an 11.1v lipo can eat a set of trigger contacts if you let it. Had it been your common m4 of ak a new set of contacts is no big deal but being an oddball i had to order a whole trigger module from the states. So began the problems, i could never get it to fire reliably in semi auto, full auto was fine but the lack of semi annoyed me no end. I tried fully rewiring to heavy gauge wire, i tried different motors, i tried different gearing, nothing worked. And so she sat, for years, i loved and still love the quirky look, but every time i'd bring her out to play the janky trigger (bad enough at the best of times) always had me reverting to something else because even if she was running well i just didnt like using it. Turns out that looking good in a video game and actually handling a thing is a big difference. Eventually as my constant tinkering continued i ended up throwing in a warfet that was spare from another build and the penny dropped- gone was the semi auto issues that had plagued her the whole time i owned her, turned out all the fettling and filing of trigger components, lining things up just so wasnt actually the problem, it was the damned active brake. But by this point i was basically an ak convert, turns out that's the platform i most like using/working on, at least as far as airsoft goes. There are 2 key points from this story: 1. Taking some time, and actually getting hands on with a gun is worth the effort, you might love the looks of a particular platform from video games/movies etc and thats absolutely fine but you may well find that what you actually preferr to use irl is something completely different. 2. Jumping straight into trying to modify your pews, especially when you dont have a clear objective in mind and its your only pew is gonna be a recipe for disaster, trust me the walk of shame when your gun's stopped working or is shooting so wildly you couldnt hit the broad side of a barn from inside said barn gets real old the tenth time it happens and when you're just starting out it will happen a lot. That isnt to say you shouldnt get into tinkering with your pew, its fun and ultimately quite rewarding and something i absolutely advocate people should have a go at, but it's definately smarter to wait until you've got a reliable spare to fall back on. As has been mentioned paying someone to work on your pew is a minefield, there are a few about who will do excellent work but just as many who either dont know, dont care or both and will just about go through the motions of fitting whatever expensive parts they think they can convince you to spend money on with no care as to wether or not that will actually improve the guns performance.
  8. What it says to me is that they arent confident enough in their tech departments work to stand by it like it were a new gun, which discourages any notion of buying even a new gun from them if you might need to avail of the warranty. As someone who has only ever played 2 games with an ootb pew i can say that i'd rather spend a month with an eye cast lazily over the classifieds for a good secondhand example at secondhand prices. Although i suppose to be fair, i'm not one who's put off by a little bit of natural weathering on a gun
  9. Torch+treebranch+place to hide= hours of fun listening to people get annoyed at that guy who wont take his hits.
  10. I dunno, seems ok to me. Certainly better than the abominations many people willingly do to their tm hicapas......
  11. whilst i don't disagree with the notion that many cases of cheat calling may well be the result of misinformation, it's worth noting that this doesn't mean there aren't people wearing copious amounts of plot armour in this hobby.
  12. I did think paintball might be more suited to the curved barrel thing, intuitively it would seem less strenuous on the round and i'd have assumed an airsoft style hop might results in bursting rounds if its set too tight. Plus curved barrel would only suit one particular weight/energy combination which wouldn't be popular in airsoft given people want to make dmr's out of basically everything, change hop weights on a whim etc.
  13. I did suspect basically this: Although i've never really dug into it enough to find out conclusively. The issue i have with that as an explanation is that whilst the bb is in the barrel, the airflow past it will be inverted so the magnus effect would be pulling it down against the bottom of the bore, and that additional airflow around the bb would magnify this effect, ie that it would rattle in a tightbore and run along the bottom of a widebore. I did for a while contemplate the idea of an intentionally curved barrel, putting a slight radius along its length to force the bb to roll along the top surface which would help add a little more spin (although likely still need a hop for adjustability) but more importantly mean that the bb would consistently be riding along one surface. Ultimately though in practical terms the trick is getting a pew consistent enough to even be able to notice these sorts of minutia, and that generally the main boost from a better quality barrel is not in its nominal diameter but in how consistent that diameter is along its length, how straight it is and how good the internal surface finish is.
  14. Not in all cases, some setups can have a dramatic drop in power when the hop is almost/completely off, so dramatic the bb can struggle to even make it down the barrel. I've never quite figured exactly how that works but i've seen it often enough that i got into the habit of setting hops at least mid-way when bench testing. Hence why it bugs me when sites do the whole "chrono with the hop off" thing because its basically asking for false readings.
  15. If it aint that then the only other explanation is all but 1 of those radios are dead, because i have no idea why you'd want more than 1 otherwise......
  16. Also why are there as many radios as there are spare mags?
  17. Ahh yes, fully upgraded..... With what? By whom? And to what benefit?
  18. Even better when they shout "freindly fire" and play on, needless to say continuing to fire on them rarely ends amicably.
  19. I've used macarons with pdi, cant say had any real issues.
  20. Is that a front sight block complete with a cut stub of outer barrel i see pictured?
  21. Dont think i ever managed to push it north of 30, but then i was very much tuning for accuracy and mainly running in semiauto. It's worth noting that the auto rof doesn't really define the snappyness in semi auto.
  22. I have in my memory the f2 has an 11mm stroke of the nozzle, so slightly longer doesnt affect it too much. I ran the 800c and cant say i noticed any issues, can't be turned off independant of setting the pressure but otherwise worked well. Certainly kept the jack fed. The f2 is a bit trickier to get to be real speedy without sacrificing accuracy, it'll handle mid 20's fine but an a10 it isn't.
