So I had a good if limited time at the Night time battlesim recently. I am unsure if I can write a fair review. Basically, 25 people who booked in never showed up. 40 showed up with half leaving before 3AM because they were not equipped properly and the sim was called off. On the fence about whether to write it up!

@Steveocee Totally agree!
I think a review is needed, but put in there what to bring as it may help people attending the next one

Bugger, my completely upgraded MG36 gearbox is perfect, great rate of fire on just a 9.6mah NimH, not much noise considering whats going on inside.
Unfortunately shooting at 365 FPS on a weak M95 strength ASG Spring. I think I must have done a decent job on the air seal!
Hopefully going for an M90 or M85 wont cause double feed on single shot as its pretty close to doing that already!

So I require a Red torch for my up coming night battlesim, to preserve my natural night vision.
I don't want to spend money...
I took my torch (Which I made a bunch of new lenses out of roughly cut Chinese takeaway Tupperware boxes as the original plastic one broke) and coloured it in with permanent red marker.
Seems to do the job. If I want to make it redder then I will put layers of clear Sellotape on the lense with a coating of red marker pen per layer.

A year old barely used PTS PDR-C for 228 shipped worth it? Sight unseen purchase.
Its a real looker though I am aware of its short-comings. I can still get it new for 320, which makes me pause, maybe getting a brand new one to make sure there are no wear issues with the proprietary parts...

So I got the MP5 back from the tech today.
Shoots lovely and fast with its all new compression gear and barrel and the built in tracer unit for the hop is fantastic.
Unfortunately the one fault I asked to be looked at still occurs. The hop adjustment lever shakes into a neutral position within seconds of full auto. Looks like it's going back...

@Adolf Hamster that's what I will tell them to do. Otherwise I may suggest to TDC mod it!

Anyone got an opinion on Maple Leaf AEG 6.02 barrels? Usually would go with ZCI ones, but the lengths I want are out of stock and quite hard to get hold of (Over 509mm)
-
The MP5 is ready to ship back to me after a delay. They also knocked a-lot of money off of the work to say sorry. I am paying much less then I though I would be! Pretty happy bunny
They also offered to help with the work on one of my other RIFs that is currently with another retailer to be fixed.
-
@Druid799 I actually believe its a coincidence. I sent them an email asking for an update before I posted the rant. I think the Email itself gave the impetuous to complete the work rather then the off chance of them seeing that post.
Having said that, this particular retailer had me waiting less then others and responded to email enquiries fairly promptly.

Decided to take this Instagram lark a bit more seriously. Add me on https://www.instagram.com/asomodai_airsoft/

Got up early to go to Tactical in Croydon as it was the only site I could visit this month because of scheduling. Charged my batteries, all dressed up with bus times in hand, walked to the end of the road and turned back around back into the house and unpacked.
Even if I could get there in time the safe zone is too small and I might be setting up on the ground etc. It was the only site I have ever left from early before, 2 and a half hour journey on underground, southern rail, bus and a 40 minute walk.
Cant be arsed. Maybe I'll book into Bunker 51 for tonight if I feel like it.

@Albiscuit I decided against that too. Though there is talk of a gas and spring night soon which I'll be up for!

Wondering if any other AFUK'ers looking at the latest Legion Battlesim, from Dusk til Dawn 12 hours overnighter. Combat throughout the night. Looks pretty interesting and my Battlebuddy is up for it too. Anyone else going?

Rats. Just booked coach tickets to go to Bristol for Mothers day weekend and Bristol airsoft aren't skirmishing that particular Friday evening. Unfortunately my Mother likes me and wants me with her on the Sunday!
-
@Druid799 Any private games on Saturday the 30th around Bristol? Maybe Friday the 29th in the evening?

Could it be that I have found the only stock M4 that I actually like the look of? And only costs £120?! Hmm. Dare I join the majority...
-
Anyone got a spare Well MB03/VSR style hop unit lying around? Managed to strip the adjustment lever holes and had to locktite in place for today's skirmish! Blimey.

Looking at 9.9V LIFE batteries for my TM Famas. Even after the motor upgrade, very occasionally the motor wont quite turn the gears enough on semi, locks up and needs a quick burst on full auto. This is using a 7.4 lipo. I have used a 11.1v lipo in storage mode and I no longer get the lock up.
Even though it has a mosfet, I loathe to use 11.1v lipo on full charge as breaking the Famas means a lot of work to repair.
Would a 9.9V Life battery be a good halfway house? Looking at this one.

Nope never have , I just don’t buy in to the whole “stops the connectors burning out / faster trigger response” gumff . Me personally I think if your not spamming the trigger or firing huge bursts all the time then your not going to be pumping that much juice through them are you ? And my 10yr old TM socom recoil proves that , it’s connectors are absolutely fine and the trigger response bit ? seriously ! is the trigger responding point something something of a second REALLY going to make a that much of a difference to a hit or not ? Yea right ! 😂😂
-
@Druid799 Just received it last night. Bigger then I thought it would be but firing on semi has no issues. Genuine halfway house between the 7.4v and 11.1v lipo. I may need to buy a couple more slightly smaller ones.

Just sold some old guitar equipment. Got a couple of hundred in the account.
Should I go for:Cyma/ASP SVU Bullpup DMR and Cyma AEP in the Gunfire sale.
ORRRR
TM M93R AEP, plus mags, Leaf suit and a small Airsoft Camera? -
Anyone else thinking of popping to Red 1 Chislehurst tomorrow? On the fence about going, but would be nice to see a familiar face!
-
@CiderPunk awesome! On the underground heading there now. Rocking the tricked out FAMAS.
-
Just filmed my first Rifle YouTube review. It's 30 minutes long, Rambling, lots of repetition, contradictions etc. But you might learn something about the ARX160.
-
@AK47frizzle I get that all the time. I am from Bristol as well 😕
-
Anybody got a helmet recommendation for someone with a large bonce? Size 63cm...
-
I got the L/XL "Ops Core Tan Sand DE SWAT Tactical Maritime ABS Helmet" from HWAirsoft and it fits me fine, has more padding to stick in it if you need a tighter fit too as well as the dial to tighten it up. I've got all the padding in and near enough tightest setting and I'd have said my head is pretty big so I reckon that'll sort you out!
-
After upgrading the ARX160s short outer barrel to the long barrel kit and switched from the stock 250mm barrel to 404mm ZCI 6.02 barrel, the FPS leapt up by 30 to 365. As it was a quick change system I installed a particularly strong example of an M90 spring, which brought it down to 346FPS. Sounds like perfect compression to me. Amazing for untouched stock compression parts on £105 RIF.

Just got back from the latest Skirmish site to be reviewed. Urban CQB, very interesting day. Somehow my project P90 made it through the entire Skirmish!
-
Stuck an SLD High Torque 22TPA motor in my stock ICS L85 (Which had the anaemic ICS Infinity 2000 in it.) ROF is a little bit better, the response has improved a fair bit and it doesn't sound like a weak old man going number 2 for a change!
-
The motors seems solid enough. Be wary though, the screws that keep the armature in the can had a very long head and I had to dremel into my CYMA P90 gearbox to get the motor to sit low enough.
Its not easy to replace the screws either because its partially threaded and longer then most I have seen.
This is a torque motor, so great trigger response, but slow rate of fire.
And yes I got it from there.
