Hi does anyone have any experience of 'The Cage' airsoft tech?
Submitted a website ticket for a serious internal build, took about a week to get a response to that (and it was a holding response at best), which asked if i still wanted assistance, responded yes and chased a few more times.
At this point i'm wondering if its worth persevering? Or AITA?
Has anyone used them? Good or bad service?
Cheers! 🙂

Hey all, does anyone know if the outer barrel assembly between the VFC HK 416 D (v2) and A5 AEGs are interchangeable, basically where the outer barrel meets the upper receiver? They look very similar on the parts diagrams, i've messaged VFC a while back and still no response!
Essentially, i'm turning my 10.5 inch A5 into a 14.5 inch, using the extended Geissele rail, you can buy the 14.5 inch extended outer barrel and gas garts for the 416 D, so want to use those (they have some nice HK trades on them) and a similar extension piece doesn't exist for the A5 variant as far as i can tell to turn it into a 14.5.
Thanks for any insight.

Random question, does anyone have any experience of putting a mock suppressor inside a Geissele SMR rail on the 416? If so pics and what suppressor did you use?
Cheers in advance!

Yup, the EXA is UMAREX spec (i have one) and the outer barrel is different, unfortunately unlikely to be compatible. 😞

Awesome - thanks for the heads up mate, great review, think i'll hang off buying at the moment....

Hey, i think i read your review on Ali! Thats a bummer, do you recon you may have got a faulty unit? What do you recon to the light, is it bright enough, or do you need to run a seperate torch with it? Not sure it's currently worth a ton plus, especially if PTS do end up releasing one.
Do you have any pics mounted?
Thanks for your response 🙂

Lots of speculation on this over the past few years, i like the look of the MAWL and like PTS 'quality' if i cant afford the real deal (which i cant for a RS MAWL).....
Looks like Ali saves the day though - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003020420649.html?ug_edm_item_id=1005003020420649&edm_click_module=item_detail&tracelog=rowan&rowan_id1=aeug_edm_19368_1_en_US_2021-08-05&rowan_msg_id=5053biz_pay_after_purchase:0:0_2378255$710735db33424d02aa40ca99edb87fa9&ck=in_edm_other
Still pretty expensive for chinese knock off, anyone bought or can recommend?

Looking to replace the stock grip on my 416, stock is good quality, but for me the shape has never been comfy. I find the magpul grips too 'thin' and prefer something a little more contoured, so the questions is, what do you use and why?
I'm looking for recommendations, i'm wary of stuff from ali as i find they're not too durable and can have problems with motor engagement angle... so it needs to be 'main brand' / OEM type stuff...
Cheers in advance!

Hi mate, i'd caveat that i've never tested it myself, but i'd say yes.
My logic is that you've tested standard G17 TM/WE and it works, as i remember the only difference in form factor is flat on the WE nozzle and curved on the TM for gas routing. Also WE are pretty much TM clones so i wouldn't expect a huge differential in the core shape of the part.
Randomly i have a GM RMR BBU for sale on here with a TM spec GM nozzle, if you wanted to send me your Ace 1 BBU i could test this fit for you?
But i think as RDB says, quite a chep part so probably just worth a punt?

So I run steel outer on steel slide and steel outer on Alu slide. For me it's mainly preference, I like a heavier pistol but I find Alu outers in particular break easily.
No issues in relation to wear as long as it's maintained & cleaned when used. I tend to find a dry PTFE spay works well and stops any grit accumulating between the Alu and steel.

Does anyone know the retaining screw sizes for the TM Glock 17 Gen 3 front trigger chassis and rear hammer chassis?
Cheers.

That made me lol.....
The flash hider creases me up!
Genuinely, each to their own, but this just ain't my bag!

Apart from the trigger, I'm not sure what this brings in form factor, looks pretty unwieldy for speeders!?!

The idea is mine, the execution I can take no credit for. I've been working with Seb at double tap designs, that man is a 3D design genius!
Essentially, I run the APS CO2 mags in Glock builds, the ones with the hex screw brass bottom caps.
I didn't like the design and lack of aftermarket mag bases on the original, this changes the mag base to be essentially like a standard TM.
The CO2 brass end cap sits in the hole, you slide it on, then screw it in place with a hex wrench through a (smaller) hole in the bottom of the mag base. A new bottom spring guide was needed too...
Final design is done, they're off to get printed in MJF by Protolabs.

will give it a tear down in a bit and clean and lube everything, the sliding movement of the nozzle does feel a bit gritty and not as smooth return as id think there should be on that part but never having a gbbp before im out of my element checking up vids on youtube lol and wanting to hear peeps opinions on here
I kind of swear by WD40 Dry PTFE spray, its awesome stuff for airsoft use, has the benefit of not holding grit and gunking up internals. Worth considering!

In fairness to Boom, i should say that the owner did get back to me, however, it appears that everything i ordered was effectively out of stock, or in other terms, the website doesn't have accurate inventory! Everything was refunded fine though.

Cheers guys, i've bought some stuff on there that its been hard to source. Seems like they take the orders in then try and get them off the wholesaler rather than holding all stock. I'm wondering if i'm going to get an email saying they cant get the items i want at some point!!!
Sourcing stuff is one of the constant joys of our hobby 😑
We'll see...

They're legit. My go to HK retailer in fact. Boom kind of runs...at it's own pace, in it's own way. How long ago did you order? Sometimes I'll find a gentle reminder e-mail is needed if I don't hear anything after a few days. But yeah, I wouldn't worry.
Thanks mate, their website is from the early days of the internet though 😆
I'll see if someone gets back to me!
