Midland Airsoft Fair this weekend and my self control has gone AWOL.

I’d give Stormforce a try, better for sniping. There are Rhododendron bushes as at the fob but better spaced out and due to the lie of the land you can look down on some from a vantage point. Lots more open play, they play a morning and an afternoon game with multiple in game objectives.
Honestly, I’ve been to both and I only go to Stormforce these days.

Amazing day yesterday at Midlands Airsoft Fair. Didn't spend the earth but got some bits I wanted.

Out of interest, was there any attempt by the venue or organiser to police the selling of RIFs?
I ask because I'm seeing that cosplay and similar fanwank conventions are now requiring vendors of anything remotely toy weapon related to not sell face-to-face on site, but to ship the item later.
I know that makes absolutely hee-haw sense, but it's the sort of idiocy that seems increasingly popular among people who don't understand the consequences of creating a duty of care where one didn't previously exist. And in our case, every sale of a RIF is a criminal offence.

A couple of the stalls said that they would check UKARA before selling a RIF.
Some of the bigger ones didn't, I think it's an almost fair assumption that to go to an airsoft fair, pay £5 for entry to wander round and purchase then you are "most likely" an airsofter.
The one which made me smile was one of the players stalls (selling second hand stuff) stating it would check UKARA as I didn't even think that was possible any more.
I can say though that I went knowing my UKARA had expired but still came away with a new RIF.

Reminiscing of my last day out. SRS made it like shooting fish in a barrel. Even the cheeky shot's you shouldn't try were landing.
-
SRS felt like cheat mode yesterday. Like I had aimbot activated! Cheekily taking shots I shouldn't have been trying and landing them. Awesome day at YTA Borderlands.

@Steveocee you were at Borderlands?? In that case, my heartfelt apologies for your loss of gameplay! Which team were you on? Did we actually talk to each other without knowing who each other was?
-
@sonofsammoWe certainly did sir. I was Als mate with the stringy ghillie.
-
Also please don't apologise, number 1 rule of Airsoft is safety, whether it's eye pro, gameplay or ensuring players are catered for. Not a problem and glad you're doing better.

Starting to get stuff together for Sunday. First sniper day for a long time and it's feeling good!
-
Me and late nights don't mix. I just tend to buy shit. It starts cheap but then it escalates to double the initial amount I decided I could sacrifice.

e.x-fire.org have a free shipping offer on. Buy PDI now if you were planning on it!

What a day yesterday! DMR in the morning and then remembered why I loved sniping in the afternoon. None of this bush wookie bollocks, fast moving and agile. Really appreciate my SRS again.

Sharing my opinion after my first time behind a DMR.

First outing with a DMR this weekend. Wow! now I need to spend big bucks on 36's as the 32's just seemed to be falling short.
-
Mmm, there's quite a jump in price between .32 and .36, I'm still too cheap to make the leap. If you splash the cash, it would be great to get an airsoft-metres estimate of how much more effective range you see from them.
-
@Rogerborg I was looking at pricing last night, 32s about £15 for 3000, 36's I was like oooo £18 that's not bad, yeah for 1000 not 3000 😐 Comparitive brand. Cheapest I've found so far is Blaster Devils for £23 for 3000.
Site I played was a 450 DMR limit, I want to see how different a 400 site feels with the same 32's. -
@Rogerborg to answer your question with the ol' range study spreadsheet @400fps equivalence (1.49j) .36's come out at 1.88m further for the "effective range" criteria, which is a hop set for 20cm of rise and the range calculated for when the bb drops back down to the firing level.
0.48's using the same criteria are 6.21m further.
of course that's assuming that the extra hop needed isn't dropping the energy, which in reality may or may not end up being more important than the theoretical improvement.
