I use Howard Leight Impacts for the ears. The comm plugs straight in and they are useful for RS if you have a .22. I used to use an earpiece but I took a shot from a sniper to the bit that fits in your ear. Being hollow it went with a hell of a bang. It seriously hurt volume wise, and set my tinnitus off something terrible! Few weeks later I took a direct hit to the earring. No damage but it stung like hell, hence the Impacts. With the 'phones on you need a strap or very flexible arms on your specs for comfort. Summer they bake your ears, so I use a separate mic on my webbing and a mesh mask that covers my lugs.

All Hail God-king of Elbonia

Too intriguing a description not to have just ordered it. -

You lost me with that. I had to Google The Line. I don't game, so I was unfamiliar with it, but the premise looks cool for certain. Cheers for leading me to it. I had to watch my lad play COD etc to really understand what some of the filmsim games were trying to emulate tbh. I was thinking more of the original book and film(s) themselves. The atmosphere that Conrad creates is one of stifling fear and trepidation, the prize is always externally noble but flawed when examined. I suppose, given the budget, I fancy sticking us into a truly challenging environment, and a totally foreign culture. Conradian metaphysical pondering and airsoft all in one would be a disorienting and exciting game. A game built around the battles in Nostromo would be amazing - separatists versus a rag tag army of conscripts and fanatical nationalist leaders. In fact, now that I think of it, I realise that that is what I was thinking of when nicking your idea! The spec ops angle could go beside an infantry assault. I like the idea of anything goes, with local command taking decisions and objectives changing as the game progresses over a huge playing area. If you play US in Namsoft games, the ambushes do get your adrenaline going. I'd like the same on a bigger scale, with vehicles etc, and Africa always gets you closer to raw life. I would love to play in proper jungle to be sure. -
You've received good advice Linton. If you like tinkering then you have even more scope for gnus. A cheap but solid basic rifle is infinitely modifiable. You may try someone else's and find it amazing to shoot, only to find that it's just the shell that's standard. Just another thing to think about. The games that you wish to play come into it too. If you get a passion for Cold War games, an FN2000 is not going to be much good.

All Hail God-king of Elbonia

I'd certainly sign up for Adolf Hamster's game. I'd borrow my lads webbing mind... I think that I would nick the basic idea, but locate the game/Elbonia in West Africa somewhere around the equator. A WWI battleship would shell the bush sporadically in a random manner as an added inducement to complete terror/realism. It would be an added nod to Conrad's Heart of Darkness, as would the Hueys flying overhead playing Creedence Clearwater Revival LPs via massive speakers. Only G3s, FALs, AKs and AR10s allowed for battle rifles. Extra points awarded for rocking short shorts in Rhodesian camo. I think a smattering of bush dwelling PTSD afflicted PMCs as NCOs would be a bonus. Thousand yard stare wielding alcoholics who would make players on their toes by carrying live bladed knives that the constantly finger whilst emitting a high pitched nervous laugh. Final objective for Blufor would be to winkle the remaining Opfor from a mine complex dug by untrained locals using any old timber for props. It would be the only airsoft game with points given posthumously in some cases, at least as far as I know. The winning team gets to keep whatever the mine produces, although if its radium I'm not sure that sticking it in your lunchbox would really do the job health and safety wise. -
Sounds like a good idea. Teaching basics like good communication, team work, moving as an actual team. I am ex-SAS and even I would have a go at this. Not that I'm boasting mind, they let anyone into Suffolk Agricultural Services these days.

Serving Airsofters; Are We Annoying?
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to DRay's topic in General Discussion
Anyone who gets into the spirit of the game is a laugh to play with. I think that ex and serving blokes are generally good to be around in game as they tend to know (and show you) decent general tactics. I've thought in the past that playing alongside teams from countries with national service make a difference, but so does learning from well rehearsed and dedicated amateurs. On a vaguely similar note I have shot for years beside a couple of armed response blokes. Neither are the best marksmen or quick reacting people that I know. I expect that they keep up their mediocre skills despite massive pressure where others fall apart, but speed and accuracy are not their forte. Still enjoy taking the piss... -
The Zuckerpurge Has Begun

Inability to follow simple instructions took me here. No idea of provenance: https://www.capegazette.com/article/mr-schappert-you’ve-been-hoodwinked/210973 -
That boy is a fool. If your aim in attending any sort of game is 'upsetting people' by acting like a dick you need to either 1) grow up 2) hope someone changes your nappy and puts you in a better mood. That man is about as welcome at an airsoft site as a leaky bucket of AIDS.

Duty to pay and possibly a handling fee. Royal Mail charge about £8 for international imports.
-
Sales over £135 from the EU to GB are liable for VAT payable by the importer post 1/1/21. Under £135 the process looks more complicated with the possibility that some kind of registration on the part of the seller may be required. Have a gander at this from Question 6 onwards: https://www.accountancyeurope.eu/publications/vat-customs-duty-and-brexit-prepare-now/

Budget for the Perun if you get the G&G. I have a soft spot for CYMA AKs, they are solid, but they are basic. As said above, bucking/nub and air seal required.

Anyone Bought From Fat Bobs Paintball?
Tactical Pith Helmet replied to HuttArmouries's topic in Places to Buy
Yep. Fast service with no worries the only time that I bought from them. -
Have a look at Gunman sites. Eversley has three or so Namsoft games a year. Bravo Sierra airsoft also does two games in Kent both Namsoft. Bloody good weekends out. Any probs finding them give me a shout. I run too mate. Best of luck with half marathons. I do trackwork/crosscountry to get my Kung Fu stronger. Never tried running that seriously at all!

Cosmetically, I wiped mine over with an oily rag... Getting rather inspired by your efforts though. I might add to the list of projects I have to do. Got six rifles waiting for the local dip and strip to reopen as it is mind. Couple need a 60's BSA enameled type finish and three for re-bluing. It's the surface prep that takes the time I find. Are you playing Namsoft with the M14?

Interesting stuff. If you read Pondoro Taylor's African Rifles and Cartridges, he describes a 250gr bullet (16g) from a .375 H&H Magnum being deflected at close range by a twig. That was putting out about 4000ft-lb (5400joules). Far too many variables can effect a BBs flight for all the shouting that you sometimes hear. The reactive target idea sounds like a good idea to roll out. Maybe a shot or two at a reactive target after you chrono would teach a thing or two?

Last after the last Taiwangun order came through today. Ordered on the 15th late at night. Since I seem to lose an AK mag each filmsim weekender, I decided to get a few spares. Then I added a new 'fet for the G&G. Then I thought about a couple of spare 1911 mags. Then since i was ordering, I got some BBs....

Sounds the nuts! Far more effort than I put into mine. Sounds like a fantastic rifle. I always think that Cerakote looks like Cerakote tbh. Matt Cerakote is a nicer smoother finish than Parkerizinging. That E110 looks good on my monitor colour wise though. You could use a Duracoat home Parkerizing spray can, they ship to the UK.

Cheers mate! I sometimes watch fitting guides for stuff only to encounter problems. The Perun guide looked almost too easy to be true. Really hacked off with the G&G tbh. A few months in and it needs a new 'fet and a strip down to remove a tooth from the piston by all accounts. Compare that with the cheapo Combat Machine M4 which is unopened after four years.

Blimey, found a 'guide'' on Youtube. Easy as falling off a log. Ordered one from Taiwan Gun.

Tony Benn's stories about trying to specify the most efficient reactors when energy minister were well worth listening to. The civil service wanted Magnox, the arms industry wanted Magnox and Magnox is what we all got, and indeed still pay for. Fighting the civil service radicalised Benn. He went into politics a decidedly middle of the road kind of chap. The only state that uses Magnox now is North Korea. The last UK Magnox was only shut down in 2015. Lord only knows the extra cost over sixty years! As for the Thick of It, I remember it coming out all too well. After three decades of being involved in politics I was going for take the plunge working with one of the parties as a psephologist. My girlfriend saw In the Loop and went ballistic, claiming that everyone involved from Malcolm Tucker down was shagging each other. As for Brexit, I ordered my last TW shipment weeks ago. It weighed about as much as I do...

Anyone had any experience fitting a Perun mosfet to a G&G L85? Is it as easy as it looks? Does anyone know of anywhere which will have one in stock? My stock rifle is currently only firing on every second trigger pull on semi, and sometimes single and sometimes burst on full.

Get yourself a copy of Airgun World and learn about building safe backstops etc. Then have a look at some of the replica airguns e.g. the K98 replica by, I think Original/Diana. Far better for target practice than an airsoft sniper. If you want to do targets without running about, try practical pistol airsoft at your own pace. How about a GSG 1911 and Section 1 license at your local gun club? Some very nice M4, AK, MP40, PPSH and MP5 platforms available. As Adolf Hamster says, you can always play airsoft at your own pace on a site. If my arthritis plays up I am no racehorse I can tell you! My best kills today were from hiding until the position was overrun and blatting several players in the back as they advanced passed me. I was sitting down and got myself nice and comfy.
