  1. Anyone have an clue if the Tokyo Marui G3 SELECTOR LEVER SWITCH part G-14 would fit a JG? The tiny machine screw that sits in the shaft of the pin that the selector lever sits on has snapped off, and I have nothing small enough to remove it. I'd need about a 0.75 mm screw extractor to have a chance I think. Smallest I can find is 2.5mm. I don't think that I even have a tap that small. Drilling the broken screw out and helicoiling seems a bit damn much too, if they are available in that size.
  2. So many 'rare' items! A CYMA AK74 for full retail. I am too overwhelmed to go on.
  3. Why did you start airsoft? I thought that sitting in my car for about six hours waiting for the lad to finish playing would be dull, so I joined in. What do you like about airsoft ? Keeping fit. Out thinking opponents, forgetting physical pain, stretching in odd ways (helps my physio), modding rifles, collecting milsurp gear, weekend milsims, camping with mates, but mostly, that only a true tit could take airsoft seriously. It is the most immediately hilarious pastime! Dressing up like an East German conscript and shouting in terrible schoolboy German whilst running about with fellow loons in a soaking wood is huge fun. What don't you like about airsoft (not including KM or non hit taking, something more substantial please) People being aggressive. Years of martial arts have taught me respect. I don't like silliness of the wrong kind, and that includes losing an unsportsmanlike attitude. If you think you've been done badly, just move on and try to win a little bit harder. No one likes a whinger. Do you think airsoft has any health benefits I.e keeping you fit etc Definitely. My health is pretty shocking TBH. Injuries from falling from horses, motorcycles, and throws. And from punches and broken limbs has left me a right state. Airsoft make sit easy to push myself the way I used to several times a week in training/sparring. Also good for hand/eye coordination, teamwork/socialisation, learning new skills/tricks i.e. it fights brain aging.
  4. The Race Gun has a kind of 'form follows function' logic to it. Rather lose using a 1911 though... The rest lifted a lid that I would have preferred stayed closed.
  5. I would have imagined that an adjustable comb would make more sense for both eyes open snap shooting. Is the trigger also the auto/semi selector?
  6. JAC made an AR18. I'd love an SKS, and the Type 56 would be great as an AEG. I suppose that an AK47 passes the 'close enough to do' test for many though. I'd love an M44 Mosin. Not sure that anyone does an airsoft version.
  7. A friend has a Cyma CM.507. All plastic and about £60 on TG. Hard to see why you'd spend three times as much on a G&G CM. Think I've six CYMAs. The metal isn't top quality, but even the loan/spare gun that I've lent to several kids who've promptly dropped it on concrete hasn't actually broken. Touch wood they are all mechanically fine too.
  8. Inconsistent mount will cause you to miss. Consistent mount will hit the target. It will also minimise parallax error which can be induced in any scope/most optics. Gun fit, consistent mount and practice equal success. When you have those down pat, you can worry about this or that optic. Up until then, fit what you like. As others have mentioned, I also prefer a 4x mag scope, and would recommend Vortex due to the warranty if nothing else. Airsoft guns throw a pattern of BBs, they are not that consistent. If you use it like a shotgun you don't go far wrong, at least that's my theory/technique. Shotguns of course have no sights. Unless you're sniping, quick acquisition point and shoot wins. What helps you to do so, you will learn after you learn the technique, - and apologies if you know this already!
  9. I'd second the CYMA M14 but the Socom version is much handier. Still perhaps a bit too much for kids or those with back trouble. Any of the shorter folding CYMA AKs also spring to mind. Really like the look of that Specna. I can feel my mouse hand twitch at the prospect of clicking on 'Add to Cart' as I type. I'll have to lay off the beer or the keyboard tonight now...
  10. You are right Shamal. I can only talk from experience. When I first emailed that the mag didn't feed, the CS actually said that they had had a few with problems and sent me a link to buy a replacement. No offer of a return postage label. The faulty mag was the start of a catalogue of faults unfortunately. I know that all firms build the odd lemon, and all firms drop a bollock every now and then, but I found the attitude of the customer care staff was insulting. As it could only be looked at by sending it off and paying for postage etc and risking being told that non-functioning parts were fine again, I gave up. Ended up scavenging it for parts. Without wittering on, a couple of mates had similar experience. Plenty of decent retailers around to take your money off you.
  11. Their customer service was diabolical when I bought a faulty rifle from them. I sent back a non-functioning mag and was simply told that it was actually fine. Having to pay postage both ways on something that is faulty and returned unfixed is taking the piss. I wouldn't buy anything from them again.
  12. ZCI plastic rotary hop fitted to the G&G, grubscrews tightened, new stiffer spring on the hop unit.  Brilliant service and price from AK2M4.

    Rifle shoots bob on again.

No excuse for a new rifle now.

Pondering a new shell and building a 12 tooth V2 box with a hi-torque motor.  Easy enough to switch back to standard if I ever had to sell.

    Any recommendations gratefully received.

      Interesting question Skara!

I'd say bob on in this case is measured in the amount of frustration and swearing avoided by the lack of wandering barrel/hop setting.

About as scientific as as 'about right' I know, but I've an idea of how accurate it needs to be for a plastic flinger.

  13. I was daft enough to let someone keep promising to send me a replacement type 56 water bottle until the time to complain ran out. Glad I lost less than a fiver, probably worth it fr the lesson tbh. Had a lens honeycomb arrive damaged ad misdescribed. When I asked for a returns label the pillock kept pretending to be different people in the 'sales team.' I knew from the address that he was selling stuff from his back bedroom. Finally sent the thing back. Merely irritating. Rec'd a scope once and didn't have a clue about ordering it. Looked at the time the auction finished and to no surprise it was about 1am on an a night I'd been to the pub. No real worries, a chap I vaguely know did the same thing with a £1500 human skeleton...
  14. UPS delivered one of my TG orders to a school. Different postcode and address, but my surname is similar to the name of the school. Cue much head scratching from staff who opened the parcel along with a myriad of others, only to find it full of quote, 'machine gun parts.' Helpfully they also lost one of the damn mags and damaged an inner barrel. A bit of thinking led me to call in and ask if they had it because I rec'd a text saying that it had been delivered. The only time in 20+ years that any mix up between the addresses has occurred. UPS also managed to leave a large order outside my neighbour's front door. Only spotted when I took the hound for a walk. Again the text told me to keep an eye out locally. If we don't tell TG just how awful UPS's service is, they will stick with them. On a similar note, I received two parcels from the US the other day, both free from any import charge, via RM. Both should have had charges attached. One I had ordered in October and reported lost. Wife's £400+ US order via RM had £150-ish slapped on it. The handling charges were ridiculous. Even RM is overwhelmed and making mistakes/missing things. Not surprising given the last minute nature of the duty announcements. UPS must be like a bloody madhouse.
  15. I have the CYMA. It's solid reliability wise, and it shoots well. The spring is much stiffer than an actual Rem 870. I use .25g and have not noticed any problems regarding over hopping. A chap I play alongside reckons that you can mod the hop, but his gun seems no better than my standard version tbh. Range is certainly less than an AEG. Got mine from Taiwan Gun. The best thing about it is that it is often my spare gun. I rely on it, and an ultra cheap DE sawn off as back up in terrible weather, and since all military outfits use shotguns for breaching etc. it's good for cheating at milsims if you haven't a suitable rifle. Well worth £60ish or whatever they cost now. Great for CQB. The stud on the stock requires a decent sling attachment, I had an Uncle Mike's hanging around, but it would add to the cost if you are without one.
  16. Getting fed up with the lack of accuracy with my G&G CM16.  FPS wise it's consistent.  The decent tightbore and bucking are fine, but the plastic build lets the barrel move.

The super low weight and ergonomics have made it my lazy go to for years, but frustration is setting in.  Shame as I really like the super reliability, fit, ease of maintenance and pointability.

Suppose a new M4 is on the cards.   What to get?

Isnt plumbing tape the airsoft trick for this people wrap it round the barrel and the hop for airseal. I had severe accuracy issues with my specna arms E11 a while ago, bought a zci hop unit, madbull tightbore and maple leaf bucking and nub, then i sent it off to The cage airsoft techs. They fixed it real good it shoots like a laser atm.

If you want a no frills M4 that just runs and runs, TM M4 CRW high cycle.

      A teammate has one and it's retarded 25 rps on a 7.4...

Factor in a zci hop unit with a maple leaf rubber to lift them heavies and you're golden.

Cheers fellows.  I'll try a new hop and tape it if it's still loose.

If I get no joy tinkering I'll have a gandar at the TM.

It was frustrating on Sunday to get hit by the lad shooting my el cheapo CYMA AK as my shots spanged around him at random.

Seriously, it was very slightly loose from the box, albeit years ago.  A wobbly receiver is never going to be the base for an accurate rifle.

  17. If you could make the average airsofter look like Lena Miculek, I'd pay your entry fee to my local...
  18. Proper hit and runs, rather than hit and get bogged down are my favourite tactics. Difficult to persuade people to do mind. BTW, I rec'd my copy of The Line. Great game but the last thing I played was Medal of Honor Resistance on the PS1. Fucking hell, the XBox controller is complicated. I kept pushing the button to strafe like in Doom. After an hour of laughing/swearing/blowing myself up I let the lad have his chair back, and he's up there now, gaming away. I feel like a proper fossil...
  19. Nice set up! Looks good and functional. If you fancy something else, I bought the cheapest hard plastic paddle holster on E-Bay for my 1911. It came marked IMI and is indistinguishable from the 'real' thing. TBH, I suspect that whoever IMI gets to produce them just sells a few as unbranded. If you get a selection of mounts, i.e. trouser belt, waistband, molle for a few quid a pop, you're sorted for loads of loadouts. IIRC holster plus mag pouch about £8, mounts £2 each.
  20. Arclight Nam games have had stationary M60s set up at various points. Great fun to get the other side following you towards one...
