Welcome to the forum. Great, you've started. Be warned - its likely your step dad will get the bug worse than you lol.

As sais elsewhere, try not to buy too much until you played a few games. Many of us have kit that we thought was a good idea at the time, but never use. If i could have my time again, I would be less impulsive.

    Where are you playing ?

Dont get worried about FPS. As long as you are shooting above 320fps, it will be fine. Using the right BB weight and setting the hop correctly is more important to range.

Honestly, you need to up your budget. If you turn up with those kind of rifles at a skirmish, there are some players who will pick you out at the safety brief and see you as cannon fodder. Being outshot is no fun and you will probably be totally disillusioned. Everybody wants to win and most settle for winning and losing. Losing all the time will get you down and it will probably put you off the game.

If you dont want to waste money renting until you know what you want, just buy something like a G&G Combat machine in two tone from the outset which will pay for itself n 4 or 5 games, allow you to compete on an even playing field and then once you have a bit of experience, you can save up for a proper Thompson or whatever it is you want at that time.

OK so you are 16 which means that you cant easily (legally) have a RIF.
If you want to buy a rifle and of course it will need to be two-toned, what is your budget range ?

Dont think that rifle has a MOSFET so NO.

Don't get lulled into the "most FPS, fastest ROF, longest range" thing that obsesses so many young airsofters. They are good rifles, you dont need a 11.1V LIPO.

Stick a 7.4V one in it and concentrate on improving your personal technique rather than squeezing more out of a new rifle.

Be careful with cheap holsters. Have had a pistol drop out when running on a cheap holster not dissimilar to that. A broken pistol means a cheap holster isn't.

There is a double page review of Okto Eight Milsim in the April edition of Airsoft Action, which is out today.

The article is on pages 34 and 35 and is a fair write up of our December milsim, Operation Claw Hammer.

We downloaded the magazine as we are too lazy to walk to the newsagents lol

    Don't rush into anything.

You're at the start of a hedonistic spending orgy, so you need to put the brakes on a little.

Play a few games and have a look (and if possible feel) of the sites rental and other players guns (with their permission).

You will yo-yo around with different ideas of makes and types until you settle, so try to resist the urge.

Snipers and DMRs are more suitable for more players who have played a while as they incur minimum engagement zones which means you are kept at longer distance from the action. Probably better to buy a general purpose rifle for now and consider S & D's as a second gun down the line.

Okto Eight Milsim got a reaction from beastmode in Facebook Bans Airsoft Gun Sales
At the moment, it's sales and trading of firearms which includes BB guns by their default. Whether it impacts on airsoft (non second hand sales) and photos of military stuff remains to be seen.

Facebook is useful in that many people have access and its really easy to post stuff up, especially photos.

However, if FB get very silly, we will just start up websites and fan forums to cover what we do and general milsim activity. At the end of the day, FB is just a type of social media which has been convenient to use.

Our sister organisation, Gunman Airsoft already have a website and forum running in parallel to their FB activity.

Okto Eight Milsim got a reaction from proffrink in Opinion on these goggles?
The second link didnt work for us.
The first doesn't mention anything about protection rating or standard compliance.
In our experience, the words budget and eye protection don't mix well.

Its worth spending decent money on rated eye protection before you worry about all the other airsoft paraphernalia.

Also consider fogging and the goggles look like they would fog easy.

    Glad you enjoy Tuddenham.

Our Tuddenham site is a great mixture of woodland, open space and CQB buildings and our Gunman brand have games there every few weeks, alternating with skirmishes and milsim lites.
The Okto Eight Milsim brand is having two full on milsims there this year.

We also have a Norwich site which is bigger but is a woodland site (no buildings).

We like them because they dont have sharp points. Although the rubber knives bend, they do have some sharp points on them.
Our rules dictate that you should lay the flat of the blade rather than stab. They are quite blunt really. You are more likely to suffer blunt force trauma with CSTK. If you hit a player that hard, there would no doubt be repercussions.

We never understand people who cheat in milsims.

They play milsim saying they want it to be realistic.

If they cheat when they are hit by pretending they weren't, then how is that realistic and surely they are only depriving themselves of the realism they crave ?

We hear really good things about CAG and they have set the bar for their level/type of milsim on their first debut game.
With Tier putting out their recent press release, it will be interesting to see what happens with Sterling/Tier/CAG and the way that type of game moves.

There are a few large weekender games each year.

AWA get about 100 players on their weekend skirmishes in Herts.
