  1. Sorry, somehow I thought this was the one in general discussion and the other one was in media. Got a little confused (at 4:30 am).
  2. Didn't you already post this thread?
  3. So, as airsoft lacks wiki, and I cant find many sites dedicated to airsoft, most of the resources are buried in forums and youtube. Generally the characteristics of a forum (ignoring quality) are: Total posts/threads/members and how many members online in last hour/24 hours and most users online ever. Anonymous browsing can also be a telling feature. A lot of people think you go to a forum and ask a question, but often times looking where someone else has asked that question can be much more useful and quicker, albeit slightly more time consuming - and not consuming of others' time. I am looking for useful resources, are there any missing from below (looking for general resources in english)? Here is a list of Forums for airsoft I have located that are primarily in english(uk/usa) and are NOT obscure or tied to a specific skirmish site/club/team (retailers excluded). Note I have not included forums below a set size (recent visits) unless they are in the UK. They are ranked in order of usefulness to me (no other way). 4. Mores the point, where, we can all rush off there and get registered before they get kicked off the register... oh wait that wouldn't help us.
  5. Thanks for the rec, but £22 vs £12 cant be beat, i'll be going integrated next but a £12 option gives me lots of time to research.
  6. I can now confirm evike truely are dicks, a second package I ordered containing no rifs, no rif parts, nor anything else remotely related to rifs - only clothing, was filed under this harm code - I've let UPS know I refuse to fill in this form, I will see what happens. It is my understanding that UPS charge £11 to clear packages through imports - I believe this packages should not even be stopped, just charged VAT and moved on to delivery.
  7. Rather than necro this thread: I am going to play my first 3+ games with Wolf Armouries Bunker 51 Skirmish over a 6 week period, however, and this is where it gets confusing, they wont allow me to have any RIF until 59 days after my first game (and after the third). What I don't understand is this, they are the ones who will add me to the database on the 59th day but they wont let me have one between day 43 and 59. It's not like database rejections occur, its a done deal the moment you have proved to them you have played 3 games in 2 months. Please note this thread is about wondering why THEY wont sell me anything, not why I cant be put on the database. I want to go to skirmishes between day 43 and 59 - that's right I want to spend money on the industry!
  8. Before getting into airsoft I checked whether I could store them in my current accommodation, Nerf guns were allowed last year so I checked the details and concluded that it would be okay. Whatever people reply is not going to change my mind, it's not like they will ever be uncovered anywhere other than MY room and skirmishes but I do wonder if you guys agree with my interpretation of the agreement I have signed: I am confident to argue that airsoft RIFs are not firearms or air pistols, but not so sure about offensive weapons. In my opinion an offensive weapon is highly subjective, a table leg is an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife is an offensive weapon, it's not the object but the user, however this is offensive weapons under their firearms category. If I ignore what they have wrote and examine the definition of "realisic imitation firearm (under 1J)" by the home office definition: because the home office classifies them as RIFs they are by the government's definition not firearms and thus not applicable to this rule in the contract I have signed - which would I believe arguably at least protects me for as long as it would take the UNI to redraft their rules and get everyone to re-sign. I only ask because they are allowed to enter our rooms when we are out as long as they give us notice (I currently do not possess a RIF, so I have not actually risked breaking this rule at this time).
  9. I am loath to lie about anything, but if you don't know the velocity what do you do. I doubt they would or even could test an airsoft gun, but if you put the wrong thing or lied and got cought... Not to mention if you put "don't know". I suppose you could put, "don't know, it's brand new but if its above 1 joule I know how to reduce it".
  10. Please delete this if it is already in a thread here, but I don't see it. UPS asked me to fill this out when I shopped at Evike, (https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff/commodities/9305990000). Supposedly Evike flagged items in my order with this code. Update: Seems evike use this harm code even when they ship something which has nothing to do with airsoft. Lazy bastards. Date………………………………………… This document will be attached to the Import entry to aid the clearance of the shipment through UK Customs Anyhoo, I don't have UKARA, nor was I importing a RIF, so after arguing on the phone with the UPS rep for 2 minutes (he basically said "I don't care, you fill in the form or we return to sender"), I took the form by email wrote NO in every relevant section and sent it back, it cleared customs no problem. UPS charged me £11 to print out this form and hand it to a customs official - lost for words how horrible that is. On top of that, they ransom your package back to you with threats to return to sender - not that i've ever charged back but makes me glad I paid by credit card.
  11. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll let you know how it works out (saves me dropping £60 on good multicam trousers and the time to research it further).
  12. What are good brands for knee pads and/or trousers (multicam) with integrated knee pads? I wanted to kneel a lot at my first airsoft game. I am not on a limited budget for this because I have problem with one of my knees and need to give it specific protection. That said, I would prefer to be cost effective. Also, I know nothing about integrated knee pads, though I've heard can be removable. (I also don't know where to shop, but I assume I can just google the brands once I have the information.
  13. Well I asked because I only want 1, but if a good portion of the money goes to the site i'd grab two. People here have been very helpful.
  14. In my first game last night I noticed that the mags would not come out without being pulled, what can I do to make them just drop/fall out if the mag release is pressed?
  15. Wow, that's blazing contrast, I think ill go for the green one and rub some chalk or something white over the letters. That said, my hat looks like this: The base colour is: So perhaps i'd be better with both. How much of the money goes to running these boards? I assume someone bought so many of these way back when that they cost mere pence?
  16. Necro..... But on topic. Which patch goes best on the standard tone multicam? I went to my first game today and a fair few people did not know there were (any) forums.
  17. Edit the first post. Indeed, you should have talked about your channel, yourself, the fields you play, made it interesting rather than shamelessly spamming and nothing else.
  18. And it's not in the best interests of the retailers to hate on products, because even if they say "lets stop stocking it" (like wolf armouries do with G&G) in certain environments that's a potential attack on the sales of retailers that continue to sell them - there's literally no reason to talk down on them when you can talk up more expensive stuff instead.
  19. What are/where can i read, the medic rules?
  20. The funny thing is, when I started researching airsoft I wanted to only buy the best because I was terrified of something breaking down, when I was in wolf armouries they said they had over 2 months waiting list to fix breakdowns - apparently bioBBs are a major reason for this. I have now spent 20-25 hours reading about the technical playing side of airsoft (admittedly I only figured out what the tappet plate did 10 minutes ago) and I think now I am happy to just buy the cheaper brands and fix any breaks myself.
  21. So my post started out "I was going to let this thread die off, but as I have no one to talk to and i'm not done with my plans, im giving up on P90 because I cannot find a cheap enough starting platform..." and then I saw your post that the forum failed to notify me about. At this point I don't even want to play airsoft (with an AEG), just want crack open(not literally) a pair of identical TM p90 clones and get to work. Perfect would be one which the lower receiver is not glued. Grateful to know platforms are available at affordable rates. Does that site de-list out of stock items? Just found this (fairly sure its KSP): youtube.com/watch?v=jepla1oofhs Looks like the KSP is a great starting platform - now to find it on sale in two months time :( .
  22. Is this ban a UK only thing, because I noticed when browsing stores airsoft stores that they accept paypal, or is it just that theres no buyer protection they will still take your money.
