anyone recommend a relatively cheap and cheerful rifle torch
-
Nice and compact, fits on a pistol or a rifle. On/off switch (no strobe mode or multiple brightness nonsense to get in the way), or an optional momentary pressure switch. Has a fairly bright torch, or a laser, or even both together if you're feeling kinky.
Comes with 2 small li-ion batteries (16340's, I think). You'll need to buy a generic charger for 3.7V lithiums, one with a sliding contact that can charge various lengths of batteries. Typically sold as 18650 / 18450 chargers.
But £10 for the basic unit is a decent deal.

Cant believe my run of bad luck.
Ics cxp ape - piston stripped a few months ago.
2 weeks ago trigger mech fried on my kwa erg.
Today everything fine. Get home ics mars starts running away on full auto and won’t stop unless the battery is disconnected.
All 3 primaries knackered

That’s part of the hobby.
Now you have the fun of fixing them.

Good news this morning.
Filed a PayPal case against Ruoskygear on aliexpress for failing to send the fma helmet and got an email today to say a full PayPal refund is being issued! Offsets the £40 I paid for one off patrolbase in the end
-
Ics cxp ape and kwa erg both back up and running thanks to Sean at Combat Action Games. Ape needed a new piston and the erg wasn’t the trigger mech after all. Just a faulty connector.
Happy days and only £25 out of pocket.
Ics mars needs proper surgery though as main board is fried.

is silicone grease ok to use for lubricating the slides and moving parts on gas blowback pistols?
-
my PTS KWA ERG lives once more. Talk about a pain to sort in the end. Intermittent fault making it worse.
All new connectors. Still not properly fixed.
Completely rewired. Still not fixed.
New motor. Eureka finally rocking like it should. £110 on repairs ouch.

Thought of the day.
For the occasional (fortnightly) average joe skirmisher. Is the extra money for something like warrior gear really worth it over your 8fields, tmc etc.
Looking at a new loadout for myself and considering a od warrior pathfinder/plate carrier combo.

What a decision to have to make.
Krytac lvoa, ics hog or kwa rm4 scout erg. Decisions decisions decisions.

Wondering how i can run a hydration bladder with a Warrior cpc without having to wear it like a backpack

Beyond the Iceplate suggestion (not sure how well it would fit) from @SeniorSpaz87 I don't think you'll have another option if you want to avoid a backpack/bladder.
The only other option would be a canteen on your belt.

the vfc aeg rifs as bad as their rep suggests?
-
I got one second hand in a like-new condition from the classified section on here. Only skirmished it the once so far. Its my first ever aeg so am only comparing it to diabolically bad rentals, to me it feels like a dream obviously. Externals are pretty nice. I've heard reliability is iffy but can't really speak on that as I've not had the thing long enough. Trigger response seems snappy, shoots accurately and has a couple of nice bits like a maple rubber as standard. For what I paid it feels like a killer piece of kit.
But then you go and look at someone who knows their shit, e.g Negative Airsoft on youtube, and he fucking hates them from what I've seen 🤷♂️Edit: The one I have is a VFC Avalon Saber Carbine - it comes out of the box with a maple leaf rubber, tightbore barrel, basic mosfet and some nice externals. Its definitely not the best gun in town but I got it for like 270 quid or something so I really can't complain, especially with combat machines going for 200+ these days
-
It depends on which model you fancy. Some of them are shit and some of them are decent. Avalon series isn't bad at all. And then they made Sig AIR MPX/MCX which is a disgrace...
VFC defo stepped up their game regarding GBBR though. Almost everyone praises their HK 416A5 or the new SIG MPX.
I think the biggest problem with VFC is that it had very bad reputation regarding reliability and QC years ago and it difficult to change on that view especially when it's not popular in the UK compared to the States or Asia and your sample is gonna be always small because most of the people not gonna choose a VFC over a Marui/Cyma/G&G. So people keep parroting each other instead of trying one and see it for themselves. Other issue is that VFC is so freaking expensive compared to the rest.
My personal view is that it's very difficult to fuck up AEG's nowadays. Internally 99% of them is the gonna be the same....

Well @Rogerborg it would be more reliable than my gbb pistol on cold wet days like yesterday I guess.

@Albiscuit i did a review of scorpion airsoft in west raynham in the sites section (you asked about it back in september)

After McGyver-zing a mollie holder for my AI burst xl grenade. Time to put it through its paces in woodland airsoft today.

Airsoft sound hog amplifiers. Do they really make an aeg sound any better? Looking for something to jazz up my ics mars sbr.
-
any of you fine folks played at Scorpion Airsoft at the old hospital west raynham?

Any suggestions for a decent all year round pistol. Finding my green gas pistols just can’t cut it this time of year so thinking maybe c02. Budget about £150 including extra mag

@ghostwalker fixing a MK23 feeding issue is a piece of cake.
All you need to do is a light file job to the feed lips. Plenty of guides on the internet, even Noviboii made a video on it (on Vimeo, not YT, for some obscure reason). less than 30 seconds for 2 mags.
STOCK TM GBBs should be the way to go, plastic slides means more gas efficiency and less propellant used to cycle the whole thing, which results in less cooldown (given you aren't speedsofting your way through the day, in that case nothing beats a HPA tap). Placing your magazines closer to your body (in pockets for example) could also work.
-
@Skara @sonofsammo Think after much tinkering today i might finally have the asg mk23 working half way decently. Tried the filing down thing from Novs video but it didn't appear to be the fix. Then saw in another video that the little plastic rod that 'picks the bb up from the mag and into the hop' sometimes catches on the rubber valve infront of the feed lips. Filed it back a bit and hey presto. It actually managed 10 rounds in a row!
-
Any suggestions for removing 'rounded' out and possibly cross threaded bolts from a handguard. It will not budge and not a clue what to do, what size to replace it with if i ever get it out.
-
Argh I hate mk23 mags. Plug one leak, another starts.

I tried fixing mine too and they were gas tight for a game day before they sprung a leak again, plus one of my gas tight ones also sprung a leak so I just said "screw it" and gave up on them. Fortunately I have a bunch of STTI mags that have been gas tight for years, so I just swapped the feed lips and gas routers over because the STTI feed lips are wank

Arrrgh Mrs has just said she will give me the £400 for a pre owned kwa recoil with a load of mags, batteries and a hard case. Now the guy isn’t answering messages. Much finger gnawing is on
