  1. Bio's are mandated by some sites. Yes it may well be a con, but if it's an effective sop to the council / environmentalists / land owners, then it's a worthwhile thing to have to keep people from trying to ban our sport, because plastic waste is such a hot topic these days. I've previously commented that my bio BBs in the garden didn't seem to degrade and might last an awfully long time, but I've since read they're supposed to break down in 90 days. Three months is a good while. Looking at the end of my garden there aren't as many BBs lying around as I'd expect, so maybe they really are disappearing. The ones I see are in fairly good nick, so perhaps the breakdown takes most of that 3 months to occur, and then it happens rapidly? I've picked a handful up and thrown them into a corner of the garden I don't shoot in to, so they don't get fresh ones mixed in, and I'll see what happens to them. I'll drop some new ones in there too. Another vote for Geoff's as 'the best' but I've found the 'BB King' brand in their cheap-looking bottles sold at Special Ops have given me zero problems in any of my guns. I've mostly used Geoff's 0.40s in my GBBR though. When you're shooting low numbers of rounds through a gun, might as well give it the best stuff!

  4. I use one voluntarily, particularly when sniping which tends to leave me out in the middle of nowhere with a long walk back. Stick it on the side of my boonie, pull it out when walking back to spawn. You don't know how many shots it's stopping you from taking, but it's airsoft, we cling to our traditions.

  5. I got zapped at RIFT on Sunday, walked back from the front-line with my hand in the air, stopped for a breather for five minutes (the deep mud and slippery slopes made even the shortest walks hard work, and I'd just gone in and out of the quarry section). I then started walking back to spawn, and I got shot again by the same guy who'd got me before, he'd flanked around the whole edge of the game area. Needless to say, where I was, I didn't feel the need to have my hand in the air - a dead man rag might've stopped me getting shot in the arse But... would everyone know (or care) to not shoot someone with a red flag on one arm? I question that. I've been at one of the tables at Spec Ops, messing with my gun at a table with a big red 'dead man' scarf (provided by the site) draped over my head, and still got lit up!

  6. In reference to others’ comments about intentionally dazzling other players, real world application, etc… (Although the Russians probably won’t care too much!) the Geneva Convention prohibits light weapons that cause permanent blindness. Similarly, although this is only a game/sport we play, any negligence in the use of laser/light emitters that causes primary or secondary (like the eg above about somebody dazzled running into a door) injury, permanent or otherwise, would be an offence under UK law. As good a torch as it is and as diligent as the user is, I’d caution against using something so bright in close quarters to other players.

  7. How many perverts does it take to screw in a light bulb? Only one, but it takes a whole medical team to remove it.

  8. I’d tend to agree with this, and must clarify that I avoid using white light as much as possible - it’s far more satisfying to bean someone with a single shot out of the darkness. However there always seems to be a willy waving torch duel at some point. It seems to me that many airsoft deaths at night games are due to blue on blue, confusion and disorientation reigns supreme. There is an argument for not really needing a mega powerful torch, and in lieu having something to flick on and identify friend or foe.

  9. Free Fire Zone do, but is a more a mechanic to stop you getting lit up. No rag, can't complain

  10. So Camelot was certainly ‘a thing’. The first hour or so of Saturday was great, the rest of the day was… pretty shite. The age old story of too many players and a grinding stalemate that resulted in nothing much happening… for a further 2 hours. And the reward for that in the afternoon? A reverse of the same game. Woo. Sunday (today) saw many players leaving due the general not so great experience from the day prior which led to far better flow. The games being a defenders hold and fall back versus attackers. Again, the afternoon saw this reversed which given how enjoyable the morning was I was happy to see. I’d defended in the morning, I generally prefer attacking. My newly jazzed up MCX was a monster all weekend, so thanks very much Dave if you happen to read this. With how well that was performing the weekend could have been a total wash and I’d likely still come away with a smile on my face. As ever, the folks I played had a huge amount to do with everything good that came from the weekend. For those that care, I’m third in from the left. Playing surrounded by giants, I’m bang on 6’ for reference.

Word to the wise.... Fed ex and TNT are merging, but they haven't updated their paperwork. I've just spent and exhausting 45 minutes going round in circles trying to find out what was going on and pay for a invoice for shipping some work related stuff from Poland. Turns out my invoice with FedEx all over it, actually comes from TnT. However they don't seem to have an online payment portal and i couldn't get out the Indian call centre whether or not the BACs details on the invoice are correct. Bloody Brexit. What a shyte idea that was! None of this was even a consideration before that omnishambles.

  15. Yep, that was the first step in the set up 😁 Bit of Google-Fu and I found this: ”Make sure AB is set to off. Same goes for precocking, perun made their precock feature use ab rather than overspin delay. Brushless doesn't know how to handle it.” Yeah, that would do it! Guess the burst mode has similar AB during the cycle and gives similar conflicts. Tempted to throw the original TM motor in and see if that plays nice. But that is a job for another day.

  18. I'm another advocate for Geoff's... I use .36's in my mws and .28's in my mp7 and G19... All of them shoot really nicely. Having said that, as previously mentioned, my shot count is very low. (probably only used about 150 rds over the Saturday.)

Selling some duplicate guns. I'm a collector so these have a very easy life! This GHK AKM is superb and has had very little use. Looks brilliant, especially when compared to a shiny new GHK! It has been aged professionally buy the props department of a TV production company and was bought by me via a friend who worked for them. Folding stock is stiff with no wobble. Magazine holds gas and everything works exactly as it should. It has a genuine RS grip and muzzle break. £560 including post by PF48.

  20. Really depends what you want to achieve. You don't need to do anything until something breaks, but as you say it's a massive rabbit hole and ends up being far from an £80 pistol. If you want to make a start with some solid basics, I would recommend changing the hop rubber (I like 50 degree flamingos) and some kind of short-stroking. Waldo Customs do a pretty good spring and buffer set for this, but there plenty of others around. Oh and you may want to install a flat/adjustable trigger if the long pull bothers you. I've done all of this plus added a 150mm maple leaf crazy jet inner barrel, Black Mamba upper receiver, AA rotary hop unit and CNC magwell. I can now hop whichever weight of BB I want at 1.1J.

  21. Hi bud, it pretty simply slips into the rear of your PC , in the area you would fit a Plate. I was using swimming floats to give my PC some structure, which it did but was also kinda hot and sweaty So this does the same job but stops me having to have bottles in my dump pouch or Mini MAP Pack on the back (I had to ask other players to get my water out for me) Pain in the ass! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004599214864.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.5f651802VEAWRI

  33. I've been using The Odin LEP for over a year now, so know a little about its capabilities. It's a great unit, if a little specialised. I run it purely for night airsoft, in conjunction with bino NVG's and a Jerry C5 thermal ecoti overlay. I don't run an IR laser, and just use passive aiming with a Eotech XPS3. On the rare occasions I use white light the LEP is pretty devastating, and wipes out the targets natural night vision, or causes their NOD's to autogate. You can get this effect with many weapon lights, but the Odin LEP really spotlights the target at medium to long airsoft ranges. It's especially useful for designating targets to other team members, whether they have NOD's or not. It reminds me of a stage follow spot in a theatre. The light isn't a nice white high colour temperature, but more of a piss coloured yellow, which is disappointing, but acceptable. It's not so great at short distances, as you can struggle to cover the whole target with the spot of light. It's also pretty bulky, much more so than a Surefire Scout for example. Battery life is very good, as are the mounting options, remote switch and value. It's also great at reducing spill from your firing position, if you can mount it as far forwards as you can. I've had it shone at me whilst messing about, and I didn't go blind - I think it's safe. I have seen brighter torches, and I am more concerned over the various Russian lasers and full power IR designators out there damaging peoples eyes and kit. It emits light at a frequency we can see and react to by shutting our eyes, unlike IR/red/green lasers. It's a cool airsoft toy, but not really a game changer, IMHO. I'm lucky and daft enough to enjoy all of my NVG kit, but none of it is guaranteed 'pay to win' when up against decent teamwork and moderate NOD's/thermals.

  36. They absolutely can be used as weapon lights and are being sold as such, but my point was that unless you're trying to hunt small game in the woods at night, such a tight beam is a bit pointless.

  37. That had crossed my mind. He seems to have been a bit quite lately. Other than the fact it was clearly my photo, there were other things that stood out about the advert. Mainly that it was described as being a Tokyo Marui. Obviously, TM don’t do a GBB MP5, (although I wish they would, because it would be awesome). So, if you know your airsoft guns it’s possible to pick out some of the scammers. The problem is these people are mainly praying on people who don’t know a great deal about airsoft, or are new and just want a gun.

  38. I understand torches in darkened CQB hallways etc (even then power should be restricted), but intentionally dazzling people in woodland games is considered airsoft now?

  40. Was at RIFT in Barton today. I'm not going to give a verdict as the place was a quagmire so the gameplay was exhausting. I think the open area could be great if they were able to have barricades erected, but I suppose that is not conducive with the 4x4 side of the business. Chrono was a bit weird as you were shooting parallel to the main road with no barriers, also no gun tagging to prove you had been through - just a name check. First game was defending/capturing several flags, which was good fun. I really felt sorry for the poor bastard that went full send through a waste deep puddle jumped into a good cover spot only to be taken out by a grenade 10 seconds later. I tried to "help" by attempting to shoot the nade into the puddle, but it was in vain. Some player had a gun capable of insane ranges as well. Several of us thought we were safe on a ridge line only to be picked off by this dude sitting in no man's land. We had a couple of good pincer manoeuvres against a guy with a riot shield who was leading a line of players up a path only for us to pick them off one by one from the back of thier line. The newly fixed Specna was on form shooting 280 fps on 28bbs. Honey Badger was much less fussy this time too, but binary firing mode seems to eat batteries and bbs like nobody's business. I also went for a tumble down a steep hill after being shot, twisting my toe and knee. At least I held the objective by myself for a long time before that only being shot by two players flanking me from two sides. I've decided that the Rapax M7 is not the gun for me. It's just too damn long. So I'll likely be putting it up for sale and looking for another Bullpup DMR to go with my SVU... Maybe an L86? Have to agree with @RostokMcSpoons (good to see you again chap 👍) about the brief being too long, but the staff were indeed very helpful and fair in their marshaling. I wasn't to impressed with having to stage from the car park either, which lead to me having a flat battery in the van. Next time though I'll take a table so the doors don't have to be opened and closed all the time. So, my main moans were because of the wet weather making the gameplay too exhausting and genuinely dangerous at times. A bit better planning on my part, and making sure that the weather has been dry for a week beforehand will get rid of the main issues. The boy had one of his class mates have his first try of airsoft and absolutely loved it. Seemed to be a bit of a natural as well as he was very selective with his shots and threw himself into the game, jumping for cover and pushing objectives. He's certainly left us with a job of cleaning the pews next week LOL. Will certainly go back to give the place a fair crack, especially as its only ten minutes from home. But its got steep competition with our other regular fields. To give you some idea of the mud: The infamous hill that I was - some 20 minutes later - going to be rolling down very unceremoniously.🤣

  41. Its definitely a bonus for guns with tiny battery space, but TBH its a lot of cash, you could run any quality 25k brushed motor for half, if not a third of the cost. They are nice dont get me wrong, but a bit of ballache to fit, i think their ideal usage is in DMRs / 400+ guns.

    The TM AKM thread

Jeez relax SBoardley. You might break your keyboard mate. I wasn’t having a go at you. We’re all just here chatting about toy guns. First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a “fan boy”. I don’t know why folks get a hard on by using that phrase as an insult. I love TM. And what. Secondly. I bought it with my own money. Even if I was gifted an item, I thoroughly test said products and reveal all and any issues surrounding that particular unit. If you happened to have caught any of my videos where I was given free items you’d know that. Reviewers aren’t all alike you know. Thirdly. One of my AK mags struggled to take on enough gas to produce results which I was expecting. My other mags seem to have a better appetite and produce the performance I was looking for. This is a prime opportunity to test out varying levels of the Green Gas Mod to get the best out of that troubled magazine. Also remember that’s not a review. Overview containing my opening impressions on it. I’m still building experience with their latest AKM, and I’ll be making the review once I’ve grasped a good understanding of it. It’s a constantly evolving process that never ends. Reason why I’ve revisited the M4 MWS a few times over the years with its progress.
